Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

David awoke from the cold of deep space that radiated from the window of the cargo ship. As he looked out the window, David could see the planet Framlet, a light gray planet about 2.3 times the size of earth.

"There it is," he says to himself

"AT LAST!" cried Pandora, her patience all but spent. "I had thought we should be trapped within this vessel for a full decade!"

"You don't need to yell, you know, also for a dragon you're pretty impatient." David replies, mocking her child-like attitude of the trip.

"Since we now dwell within the selfsame vessel of flesh," she answered with a huff, "mine own sense of time hath altered to match that of thy kind, ye fleeting mortals."

"Huh, well that explains your behavior for the whole 16 hour trip from Earth to here." he says, a bit amused by this revelation.

As they conversed, one of the military battleships that revolved around Framlet opened one of its hatches and let two fighter ships guide the cargo ship to their destination. As the space crafts enter the planet's atmosphere, a magic shield is deployed around the ship to prevent combustion, the ship vibrates as it begins to stabilize as it finishes entering the atmosphere.

Once the landing zone was visible, the fighter ships left and intercept a different cargo ship leaving the planet to escort it out. As the ship landed an automated message of Lord Glenn Juvnet began broadcasting on the ship.

"Gr'tings, visitors, n'w and old r'sid'nts." The message began as David and the other passengers began to exit the ship, the cold air rushing into the ship as they left, filling the ship with the smell of damp metal. As he left, David put on a pair of glasses that his sister gave him before he left Earth and activated them. A mini hud appeared on the lenses and he checked to see who was active, only Diego was.

"looks like they haven't arrived to their destinations yet" said Pandora with sombreness in her voice.

"Yeah it looks like that's the case" David replied as he left the spaceport and entered a cab.

"Wh'r' to?" asked a middle aged man, in Framlet's dialect, in a brown coat on the driver seat.

"motel, please" David said as he put his suitcase and bag in the seat next to him, he looked out the window to see a light train depart from the spaceport.

When he arrived at the motel, a neon sign that read "MOTEL 3" was at the entrance. David went inside to the front desk, there was an old woman there watching the holo-news,

"continued rumors of a possible global civil war in Kerdic raise concern for the people in Lord Victun Ing's rule who begin to question his position."

"Excuse me" interrupted David, the old lady moved her head in his direction

"May I h'lp you?" she said in annoyance and disgust

"I would like a single bed room please" David said,

"That'll b' 62 Infinium" she replies, barely acknowledging him as she returns her focus on the screen.

"Is that not twice what they would ask of thee upon Earth?!" Pandora said, outraged.

"Well there's nothing we can do about that" David thought as he put an obsidian colored coin with the "Lord's of Humanity" crest on it and 100 on the back side of the coin, the lady grabbed the coin and picked a keycard numbered "361" and tossed it at David.

"Your room is on th' third floor" she said.

"Um, what about the change?" David asks politely

"Consid'r the r'st, tip for m'." the old lady snaps back, disregarding David

David could feel his body heating up by Pandora's rage, he started walking swiftly to the elevator speaking softly to himself, calming Pandora.

Once he reaches the elevator he presses to go to the third floor as he did a notification comes up on his lens, a call from Diego. David answers.

"I'm about to do some investigation soon, but I wanted to call you since I saw that you've arrived at Framlet." Diego responded out of breath.

"He must be arriving at his appointed place." Pandora commented

"Has mother finally calmed down after that breakdown at the departure?" David asks.

"Yeah, and dad has been trying to get her out of her gloom once she finally calmed down, but that might take a while."

"Have thee been in contact with someone else?"

"It looks like Dani and Deby are having a chat right now." The elevator door opens to the third floor and David walks in search of his room.

"I see, and Dylan?"

"I talked to him about a few hours ago, he seem super hype in Soth which is no surprise."

"Let's just hope he hasn't done anything simpletone yet; anyway have you been able to get thy demon to help thee?"

"Ichabod? Well, he helps when he feels like, which is better than what he was doing a few years back."

"Aye, I do recall—'twas most vexing to bring unto submission." said Pandora with a weary sigh. As David arrived at his room number he saw a light coming from inside, he paused and whispers.

"Hey, I shall return to you later, Something has come to pass."

He Ends the call as he sees a shadow walk past the doorway. David is about to touch the door until a shock of lightning comes from the door.

"magic seal?" he thinks

"Nay, too great an offense—it is a magic barrier," said Pandora with a serious tone.

"It appears the best course of action is to just power through, can't risk using mine power, who knows what kind of enhancement 'tis might have."

"I do concur," agrees Pandora, "yet I doubt thy frame shall endure such lightning. Knowest thou not that magic barriers may bear up to five hundred thousand volts, if thy caster be in possession of a grand enough lightning stone and the mana to sustain it."

"Well, there's no time such as the present to increase mine limit. But there is a very low probability that whoever lies beyond yonder door has the means to weave so mighty volts." David argues.

"Aye, but even the feeblest of such barriers carry no less than five thousand volts—that doth press most perilously upon the edge of thy strength." David exhales before raising his hands in front of him and shoves them on the door, the lightning from the barrier begins to surge through his body, absorbing as much as it could. David grunts and his body begins to shake all over as numbness begins to form at his feet.

"It seemeth thy body doth begin to falter, and I reckon we are not yet halfway through." Pandora says as David begins to lose balance and falls to his knees, numbness rising from his legs with each second passing. He lowers his head to the ground and sees the shadow of whoever is behind the door being still right in front of the door anticipating his entrance, as David tries to focus on the shadow as to ignore the ongoing shock of the seal. He noticed that the shadow was shaking slightly, though he can't tell if that is his eyesight blurring by the lightning pumping in his body or if the person behind the door is afraid. His right arm has turned numb and limps down, and his left arm is growing more numb as his nerves begin to shut down all around his limbs,

"Thou art already stricken with temporary palsy! Shouldst thou press on, thy very mind shall suffer grievous harm!" Pandora cried in anxious dread.

"Just a moment more, we're almost done!" David says, trying to keep himself motivated and Pandora less tense.

His other arm goes limp, falling by his side, David hits the floor unable to move. Sparks begin exiting his body as he slowly tries to release the stored up lightning so as to not cause a complete blackout on the whole building. As his consciousness begins to fade, he hears the door open and could make out a feminine figure with hair the length of their shoulder, standing above him, as his eyesight goes black.
