"No." My voice echoed through the council chamber, firm and unyielding. "I refuse. You've had years to tell me the truth about my father. Now you try to barter with it?"

The council chamber fell silent. All eyes turned to me as I stood before the elders, my body trembling not from fear but from rage.

Lennox stepped forward, his face a mask of desperation. "Olivia, please. This isn't about bartering. There are things you don't understand—"

"Don't I?" I snapped. "I understand perfectly. You're trying to manipulate me again."

Elder Grant cleared his throat. "Lady Olivia, while the council respects your decision, there is another matter we must address before proceeding with the rejection."

I tensed. "What matter?"

"A prophecy," Lennox interjected before Elder Grant could continue. "A prophecy concerning your safety."

I laughed bitterly. "A prophecy? Really? That's the best you could come up with?"
