"Keal"she called out "Kael!, don't go help me! "
When she get no reply she lie there writhing in pain,slowly the pain becomes unbearable,her body is getting heavier, her breathing becomes more shallow,as a last resort she fumble though her dress pick up her phone and call her best friend.
"So–sophie "she said with difficulty
"Selene what happened "
But Sophie get no reply she only heard her shallow and heavy breathing
"Selene talk to me !!"Sophie shouted through the phone
"he-hel-help-help me I can't –" Selene try speaking but strength leave her body and everything went blank.
"Selene-selene-SELENE !!"Sophie yell but she get no answer
"Selene don't scared me am calling ambulance now "sophie said through the line.
Inside ward 402 Selene eye fluttered open and what greet her was a white ceiling of the hospital and the constant beeping of the heart monitor machine,a drip is attached to her hand, she was clothed in the hospital gown.
"What happen "she asked her voice hoarse
"Selene you are awake "Sophie sprang up from her chair excitedly upon hearing Selene voice,
"What happen?,how did I get here?,"Selene ask again
"I brought you here Selene "Sophie answer
"My baby,is my baby okay "Selene asked,her heart beat racing,she fear the worst.
"Selene um..why don't you eat something first "
"Don't divert the question Sophie "selene said agitatedly
"Selene–The doctor said you have a– miscarriage "Sophie answered reluctantly.
Selene become dazed , unconsciously she started patting her chest with her right hand,tears streams down her already messy face, silently she sobbed while clutching her chest hard,she started murmuring unclear words,her body went numb and she started trembling.
Immediately the machine in the ward started beeping wildly,alarm went off in the room.
"DOCTOR! DOCTOR!!!" Sophie yell out loud she didn't know what else to do.
"Selene stay with me-stay with me "Sophie now by Selene side hold her hand tightly afraid she would disappear from there.
The door burst open, the doctor and his medical crew rush in,and they immediately went to work.
After stabilizing Selene condition and making sure she is fast asleep, the doctor turn to Sophie asking her to recount the situation.
After hearing what happened the doctor decide to call Selene– Keal.
Keal sitting on the chair in his office looks at the letter and the picture attached to it,the letter looks weary and old,its had been three years since he received this letter from an anonymous sender.
"Your wife is having an affair " that is just the sentence in the letter with an attached picture of Selene intimately holding hands with man she was smiling affectionately at the man,they look like an old couple taking a walk in the park,the man face though was blurred,he couldn't recognize him no matter how much he look.
He had tried investigating the source of the letter secretly but there is no result yet,he had even consider confronting her directly, but he didn't want to expose the letter yet.
Being the ceo of the company,the pressure was enormous,couple with suspicion of his wife affair,and the ever growing threat from rival companies.All this left him frustrated.
Selene is really in pain this morning,maybe i pushed her too hard, I really don't want to be too harsh on her but i can't seem to get that picture out of my mind.
The ringtone of his phone break off his train of thought, looking at the phone it's was unknown number.
"Hello who is this? "he asked
"Hello this from the hospital"
"How may I help you "
"Am calling to inform you that your wife is currently hospitalized in our hospital "
"WHAT!!"he roared through the phone, spranging up his feet,he grabbed his car keys and rushed out.
"Which hospital is it ?where is it located?tell me now!!"
"Our hospital is located at—".
Inside his mind is all over the place, is it because of the push? he thought to himself, running through .any red light,he arrives at the hospital.
Selene open her eyes and seeing the white ceiling of the hospital,memories rush to back to her accompany it is pain and the sudden emptiness in her stomach.
So it's not a bad dream.
Before she recover from her thought when the door burst open and Keal rush in.
"What happen"he asked the nurse attending to Selene with unhidden concern written all over his face.
"Am sorry to say this but your wife had lost her baby ,she had miscarriage "the nurse replied.
Hearing all this all the concerns in his face disappeared,the atmosphere become heavy,his jaw tighten,he clench his fist hard.could this be my child,we didn't have this month at all how?,could it be that man in the picture, it's has to be.
"Who is the father "he bark at Selene,the picture and the latter from three years ago kept reappearing in his mind.
"What did you mean by who is the father?of course it's your–". selene try to explain.
"Shut up!!!"he cut her off.
"That is definitely not my child "
"So it's true,I can't believe this"furiously Keal yell at selene
"How can you be saying this to a woman that just lost her pregnancy". Sophie tried to reason with Keal.
"Mind your business bitch". Keal yell back at her,"this is my family matter ".he continue.
"I think you are making this worse mr kael "the nurse chime in."I think you should leave here "said the nurse.
"You are the one that should leave this is my family"he shouted at the nurse.
Hearing this the nurse leave the ward and Sophie follow, leaving selene alone with Kael.
"Now we are alone you can talk freely "Keal said.
"I don't understand what you are saying,did you think I'm having an affair!!"selene replied
"Meet me at home if you are better "Keal said,and walks off.
The door open and Sophie enter the ward,"are you going to be okay" she asked concern written all over her face.
"Don't worry it's fine he is just stressed from work "
Sophie drop Selene at home,she had been friends with Selene since childhood,and she had never see her so silent and weary like this,she just hope she will be okay.
When Selene enter her house Keal was already sitting on the couch waiting for her.
Upon seeing her he stood up,put a document on the table and said to her "let's get a divorce ".
