It took three full days for Regigigas's injuries to mend completely.
By the end of that time, the titan had made its choice. It was willing to follow Jiang Chen and become one of his Pokémon; Jiang Chen's words about companionship had truly touched its heart. Although it spent the vast majority of its existence in deep slumber, Regigigas did not actually enjoy being alone. It, too, yearned for companions.
"Regigigas was actually quite easy to win over," Jiang Chen remarked to himself.
In fact, it had been much easier than Zapdos. After he had beaten Zapdos into submission, he still had to expend a great deal of effort to keep it in line. With Regigigas, he had barely broken a sweat during the negotiation phase.
"Enter your Poké Ball, Regigigas."
Jiang Chen produced a Master Ball and pulled the titan inside. The fact that Regigigas was willing to follow him was partly due to their successful communication, but there was another undeniable reason: he possessed the strength to defeat it.
If you lacked the power to win, no amount of flowery language or "persuasion" would matter. Regigigas wouldn't have agreed if he were weak. To put it simply, one needed both overwhelming strength and a high level of Talk no Jutsu to make this work.
The Master Ball wobbled once, then fell silent. Regigigas was now bound to the ball. Of course, a Master Ball could never truly imprison a being like Regigigas; if the titan ever decided it wanted out, it could break free at any moment.
"Rayquaza, take me home," Jiang Chen said to the dragon beside him.
With a leap, he landed on Rayquaza's back. Gardevoir followed him up, while Mew perched itself comfortably on his shoulder.
Jiang Chen chose to return on Rayquaza because he wanted to keep a high profile. It didn't matter, really anyone with any real power or influence already knew that Rayquaza belonged to him. There was no point in hiding it.
Rayquaza's flight speed was formidable; it wasn't much slower than Mew's Teleport. Within seconds, they had crossed the Pacific from the isolated island and arrived back at his home in Tianhai City.
"You're finally back! How did it go?" Ling Wanqiu asked as soon as he stepped inside.
"Is there even a need to ask? It was obviously a success, otherwise, he wouldn't have come home today," Xiao Luoxue guessed.
When they had contacted Jiang Chen the day before, he had told them he was confident. Those who knew him understood that Jiang Chen never said he was confident unless he was absolutely certain of a hundred percent success rate.
"You guessed right. Regigigas has been captured," Jiang Chen said, releasing the titan from its ball.
"So this is Regigigas... It really looks like a robot," Ning Ya remarked, sizing up the massive creature.
Its appearance was somewhat plain and unassuming. No one would guess by looking at it that this creature possessed the power to threaten entire nations. Actually, its strength could threaten much more than just a single country.
"From now on, you'll stay on the back mountain. There are plenty of Pokémon there, so if you ever feel bored, you'll have others to talk to," Jiang Chen told Regigigas.
Even after capturing it, Jiang Chen didn't plan on carrying Regigigas around everywhere. The titan loved to sleep, so letting it stay home as a guardian was the perfect arrangement. If anything urgent happened, he could simply wake it up.
Regigigas didn't seem dissatisfied with the arrangement at all. To the titan, it didn't feel like it had been "captured" as much as it had simply moved to a new place to nap. It had been completely charmed by Jiang Chen's logic.
"Ning Ya, I'll need you to arrange for a team to build a dedicated area for Regigigas to sleep in," Jiang Chen said.
"Understood."
It was a small matter that Ning Ya could handle easily. With Pokémon assisting the construction, it wouldn't take long at all to finish.
"You're really just going to let Regigigas sleep at home?" Ling Wanqiu asked, her expression a mix of confusion and amusement.
"Yeah. I don't usually need Regigigas to fight for me. If I ever do, I can just come back and get it."
"Fair enough. It's not like you only have one Legendary Pokémon."
Ling Wanqiu finally understood. When you had as many Legendaries as he did, you could afford to be indulgent. Legendaries you didn't need daily could just stay home.
Jiang Chen now possessed a total of five Legendary Pokémon. Although only Rayquaza and Regigigas had the strength of Major Legendaries, Articuno and Zapdos were more than enough to handle most daily situations.
Furthermore, capturing Regigigas had another benefit. If he ever encountered the other Regis, he could just send Regigigas out to easily convince them to join him.
Jiang Chen had actually wanted to ask Regigigas where the other Regis were, but unfortunately, even their creator didn't know. Although it had brought them into existence, Regigigas hadn't placed any restrictions or tracking on them. That said, the other Regis still held their creator in the highest regard.
"Regigigas has such a good temper! It didn't mind me touching it at all," Xiao Luoxue said with delight after cautiously patting the titan's body and seeing no reaction.
It was the complete opposite of Rayquaza. Whenever she even thought about touching Rayquaza, its fierce, piercing gaze would lock onto her. That glare was far too much for her to handle, and to this day, she hadn't dared to even brush against Rayquaza's scales. Regigigas, on the other hand, was completely indifferent. Its personality was wonderful.
"It does have a mild temperament," Jiang Chen nodded.
Although Regigigas had killed quite a few people in the past, those humans had been the ones to provoke it first. Compared to other Legendaries, the titan was actually quite reasonable.
"What type of Legendary is it?" Xiao Luoxue inquired.
"It's a Normal-type. It also has five 'sons'—the pillars of Rock, Steel, Ice, Dragon, and Electric."
"Five sons?"
"One is an Ice-type?"
Ling Wanqiu was surprised by the number, and Gu Shuangyue was intrigued to hear about another Ice-type titan.
"Are its sons Legendary Pokémon too?" Xiao Luoxue pressed.
"Yes. However, they are all Tier 3 Legendaries, quite far behind Regigigas in power. They were all created by it," Jiang Chen explained, giving them a brief rundown of the family of Regis.
"I didn't realize there were other Ice-type Legendaries besides Articuno," Gu Shuangyue admitted. This was news to her; previously, she had only known of the one.
"Besides Articuno and the Ice Titan, Regice, there's also the dragon Kyurem. That one is a true Major Legendary."
Kyurem held a massive advantage among Major Legendaries because of the abundance of Dragon-types in that tier. Furthermore, Kyurem could use the DNA Splicers to absorb the power of Reshiram or Zekrom, evolving into White Kyurem or Black Kyurem.
"An Ice Dragon?"
It wasn't just Gu Shuangyue who was stunned; Xiao Luoxue and Ling Wanqiu were equally shocked. Could Dragon and Ice types even coexist in one body? Ice was supposed to be the perfect counter to Dragons.
However, after thinking about Volcarona, it didn't seem so impossible. Fire countered Bug-types, yet Volcarona embodied both perfectly.
"If you want to keep looking at Regigigas, go ahead. It won't mind. I need to get something to eat—I haven't had a decent meal in three days."
Jiang Chen had spent the last three days obsessing over how to capture Regigigas, eating only the bare minimum while racking his brain for a solution.
Until he was sure Regigigas was fully won over, he hadn't dared to bring it home. If the titan had been unwilling and suddenly attacked, it would have leveled his house. Only after the capture was complete did he feel safe bringing it into his private domain.
"Young Master, I've already prepared everything for you."
Ning Ya had known he was coming back even before he arrived.
"Thank you, Ning Ya."
"Young Master, saying 'thank you' to me is almost an insult," Ning Ya said softly as she served up all of Jiang Chen's favorite dishes.
Toward evening, Jiang Yuan returned home.
"Did you come back just to see Regigigas too?" Jiang Chen asked his father.
"Where is it?"
Jiang Yuan was indeed curious. Although he had seen Regigigas through monitors, seeing a Major Legendary face-to-face was an entirely different experience.
"It's on the back mountain. I've settled it there," Jiang Chen replied.
Jiang Yuan looked puzzled. Why hadn't he kept such a powerful creature inside its Poké Ball?
