Jiang Chen called Mew over. When it came to traveling, nothing beat Mew's Teleport. After giving Mew the coordinates, the Pokémon grabbed Jiang Chen and vanished instantly.
"Gardevoir!"
Gardevoir huffed in annoyance. She hadn't even followed them yet!
That meddlesome Mew had actually left her behind. Just as Gardevoir's temper was about to flare, the duo reappeared before her.
"Let's go, Gardevoir."
At Jiang Chen's words, Gardevoir ran over with joy. Her master was still the best; he wouldn't forget her.
Jiang Chen brought her along specifically because he knew she would throw a tantrum if he didn't, though he didn't actually expect her to be of much help in a fight of this scale.
South Korea. This was the first time Jiang Chen had set foot in another country. Finding Regigigas was a simple task; they only needed to sense the fluctuations in energy.
Mew could clearly perceive Regigigas's power signature.
At that moment, Regigigas having not been attacked by anyone for a while was planning to find a cavern to return to its slumber. Fortunately, Jiang Chen had arrived just in time; otherwise, once the titan went to sleep, finding it again would have been a nightmare.
"Regigigas!" Jiang Chen called out to the massive body.
Looking at the titan's height, Jiang Chen estimated it to be over four meters tall. It exuded a terrifying aura, heavy with a sense of overwhelming pressure.
Sensing a threat, Rayquaza proactively emerged from Jiang Chen's Master Ball. Its sharp, fierce gaze locked onto Regigigas.
The moment Rayquaza appeared, the auras of the two Tier 1 Legendaries collided. As the saying goes, one mountain cannot hold two tigers. Tier 1 Legendaries rarely went to war with one another, but they were never harmonious when forced into the same space.
The indicator-like eyes on Regigigas's face began to flicker, while a shimmering luster rippled across Rayquaza's emerald scales.
"I want to subdue you," Jiang Chen said, staring at the Holy Pillar King and voicing his intentions plainly.
Regigigas shifted its massive body slightly, signaling its refusal to follow him.
"Well, there's no helping it then. We'll have to fight first." Jiang Chen shrugged. "Rayquaza, it's best to take the fight elsewhere. Not here," he commanded.
He knew force was the only way. Only after defeating Regigigas could he negotiate subduing it.
Rayquaza nodded. Its body blurred, appearing before Regigigas like a bolt of lightning. Regigigas was visibly a step too slow.
With a thunderous impact, Rayquaza slammed into Regigigas, dragging the titan with it as they tumbled away toward the distant ruins.
"Mew, track Rayquaza. Keep up with them," Jiang Chen said immediately.
Mew gave a small nod, then used Teleport to bring Jiang Chen and Gardevoir along to follow the battle.
They arrived at a small, uninhabited island in the middle of the sea. Regigigas's body crashed into the ground, causing the entire island to fracture and split apart.
An injury of this level was not serious for Regigigas. The Holy Pillar King was no weakling; after all, legends said it had created five other legendaries. There were even myths of it towing entire continents with ropes.
Assaulted and provoked, Regigigas grew furious. It began to get serious. Facing Rayquaza was an entirely different matter than facing mere humans.
It raised its hands, unleashing a devastating Hyper Beam. Rayquaza mirrored the move, firing its own Hyper Beam in retaliation.
Two pillars of destructive energy collided. An aura of pure annihilation began to spread, making it difficult for Jiang Chen to even breathe the moment he arrived.
Suddenly, a strange power of rules enveloped and protected him. The one releasing this power wasn't Mew, but Rayquaza. Even in the heat of battle, Rayquaza had the presence of mind to protect its master.
Mew was also quite startled. If it were hit by the aftershocks of that energy collision, even it would likely be knocked out instantly.
"Gardevoir!" Gardevoir gripped Jiang Chen nervously. If danger truly came, she was prepared to protect him even at the cost of her own life.
"Don't worry, we're safe for now," Jiang Chen reassured her.
The energy shield Rayquaza had placed around them was incredibly potent. Jiang Chen estimated that even a Tier 2 Legendary attacking with its full strength wouldn't cause a ripple on its surface. This blue-violet shield contained the power of rules; only an equal level of power could hope to break it.
Beneath Regigigas's feet, the already fractured island finally collapsed. Rayquaza's Hyper Beam suppressed Regigigas, blasting the titan deep into the ocean floor.
The sea vibrated violently. Massive waves swept outward, far larger than the waves caused by the Dragon Pulse Rayquaza had used before. This time, Rayquaza was truly going all out.
"Can Regigigas withstand this kind of destructive power?" Jiang Chen peered toward the seabed. He wondered where Regigigas had landed and more importantly, could Regigigas even swim?
Just as he was pondering that question, the surface of the sea surged again. Water shot thousands of meters into the air as Regigigas erupted from the depths.
As it descended, it unleashed an Ice Beam. The entire sea surface was instantly entombed in ice, locking the surrounding waters in a frozen grip.
"This Ice Beam... even Articuno would have to bow its head in shame," Jiang Chen murmured, looking at the frozen expanse.
"Gardevoir!" Seeing such power, Gardevoir felt that she could never be that strong. To freeze a radius of hundreds of kilometers so effortlessly was beyond imagination.
On the other side, Rayquaza continued its assault.
Though Regigigas had an ability that brought negative effects, that Slow Start only hindered it at the very beginning. By now, its attack power and speed had returned to normal.
Facing Rayquaza's lashing tail, Regigigas reached out with both hands and caught it with sheer brute strength. Its body slid back across the ice, carving deep rifts into the ten-meter-thick frozen surface, but it actually managed to hold onto Rayquaza.
It wasn't simple. No Tier 1 Legendary was ever simple.
Regigigas was the titan that could drag landmasses; its physical strength was terrifying. Even against Rayquaza, it could hold its own in a contest of power. Regigigas swung a massive fist, slamming it into Rayquaza's body.
The punch forced Rayquaza back a considerable distance, but in the blink of an eye, a Dragon Pulse roared toward the titan.
Boom!
The Dragon Pulse exploded against Regigigas. The titan was injured again, but its physical frame was incredibly durable, and its legendary recovery speed was immense.
In the critical moment, Regigigas even generated an energy shield to block part of the attack, a barrier similar to the one Rayquaza had given Jiang Chen.
Suddenly, a massive slash that seemed to blot out the sun fell toward Regigigas.
"Was that an Air Slash?" Jiang Chen watched, feeling skeptical. He suspected it was Rayquaza's Air Slash, but could an Air Slash really be that huge?
The ice sheet Regigigas had created was cleaved in two, and the titan's body was once again sent crashing into the sea. This was the second time Regigigas had been knocked into the depths, but Jiang Chen didn't believe for a second that it would lose its combat capability that easily.
It was clear now that this Regigigas was among the stronger of the Tier 1 Legendaries. Although it was currently at a disadvantage, and its punch to Rayquaza hadn't done much damage, the fact that it could trade blows with Rayquaza at all was a testament to its might.
What Jiang Chen didn't know was that their battle had already been exposed. With a disturbance of this magnitude, it would be abnormal if the world's governments hadn't noticed.
The battle had left global observers completely stunned.
"Wasn't Regigigas in South Korea? Why is it here? This should be the Pacific Ocean, right?"
"Which Pokémon is that fighting Regigigas? It's actually suppressing it... it has to be a Tier 1 Legendary too!"
"I never imagined Regigigas was this terrifying. It seems it was holding back when it was in South Korea, otherwise, that country would have ceased to exist long ago."
Whether it was Rayquaza or Regigigas, their performance was hauntingly powerful. This was true, disaster-level strength. Compared to them, Zapdos and Articuno weren't even fit to carry their shoes.
