Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: Tarquin

"If there is nothing else, you may leave."

It was still that familiar, emotionless voice. Upon hearing Snape's words, the five members of the Potions Club immediately got up and left the classroom.

Perhaps because he had the least fear of Snape, Sean was always the last to leave each time.

Holding his things, Sean stood up, nodded slightly to Snape in greeting, and turned to leave.

But at this moment, Snape's voice suddenly sounded from behind him.

"Sean, don't get too close to the Savior, if you don't want to die young."

At this moment, Sean knew that Snape must have seen him that day during the Quidditch match.

Turning to look at Snape, he still had that vacant-eyed, indifferent expression, but Sean knew very well that Snape cared about him; otherwise, he wouldn't have said these words.

"Professor, I understand," Sean replied. "My interactions with Harry are limited to that of ordinary friends. As for other things, Harry is a Gryffindor, and it's impossible for him to communicate with a Slytherin like me, isn't it?"

It's impossible for a Gryffindor to communicate with a Slytherin…

This sentence echoed in Snape's mind. Pondering something unknown, he just nodded slightly and said to Sean, "It's good that you understand."

"Additionally," Snape continued, "you should have finished reading the book list I gave you last time. This is the next book list. I will give you a new list in half a month. It would be best to finish reading all the books on this new list before then."

Sean took the book list Snape handed him, swallowed, and said with some difficulty, "Professor, I haven't finished the books you gave me before. I've only read half so far. I…"

Before he could finish speaking, Snape's disapproving gaze shot over sideways, a cold sneer appeared at the corner of his mouth, and he said, "You have time to think about those unnecessary things, time to take risks for the Savior, but no time to read? Since when has your brain become as stupid and idle as a Gryffindor's?"

The venom spewed by the Slytherin Snake King was something even Dumbledore couldn't handle much of. Sean took the book list with a bitter expression, secretly deciding to wake up an hour earlier in the morning to try and finish the books within half a month.

Walking out of the classroom where the Potions Club was located, Sean sighed, preparing to return to the common room to read.

However, before Sean had walked far, an unfamiliar voice suddenly sounded from behind him.

"You are Sean Bulstrode?"

Hearing this sudden voice, Sean instinctively reached for the wand at the back of his waist, turned to look in the direction the voice came from, and said, "Who are you?"

"Very alert," the voice said. "Very good. You do have the qualifications to be a Slytherin."

Sean looked at the person who walked out of the darkness. It was a pale-faced young man of medium build, probably in his sixth or seventh year. He had medium-length hair and an ordinary appearance, but his eyes were full of scrutiny and aggressiveness, which made Sean very uncomfortable.

"Who are you?" Sean asked again.

Hearing Sean's repeated question, the person grinned and said, "My name is Tarquin. I heard you've been getting quite close to Andy lately?"

Sean looked at the other person and suddenly understood. This person must be with those who had poached Andy's former partners. Coming to find him now, the purpose was self-evident. Sean hadn't thought much of it before, but now it seemed someone was indeed deliberately targeting Andy.

"Andy is a very interesting person," Sean replied coolly. "We talk very well."

"If I were you, I wouldn't get that close to him."

Looking at the other person, the expression on Sean's face also turned cold. If he could see his own expression now, he would probably immediately realize that, perhaps influenced by Snape, his own cold expression had a bit of Snape's look about it.

Sean might not have realized it, but he was quite good at mimicking others.

"If you have nothing else, I need to go back and rest."

Having said this, Sean was about to turn and leave.

Seeing Sean's action, Tarquin immediately stepped forward, saying in a low, angry voice, "If I were you, I wouldn't be so ungrateful!"

Ignoring him completely, Sean continued to walk forward.

But at this moment, Sean suddenly felt a chill. Without the slightest hesitation, the wand already held in his hand was immediately raised.

"Protego!"

A translucent blue-white glow rippled behind Sean, and it was at this moment that a white light struck his Shield Charm, causing it to shimmer.

His pupils constricted, and Sean's wand waved again, a grey-white light shooting out from it.

"Petrificus Totalus!"

"Stupefy!"

The grey-white and crimson lights collided, exploding like fireworks.

Sean and Tarquin looked at each other. Sean's face appeared calm, but it was like the calm before a storm, the sea before a tsunami. Tarquin, on the other hand, had a sinister smile on his face, not at all bothered by his sneak attack.

"Do you know that your actions just now have violated Hogwarts' school rules?" Sean stated, his voice low.

"So what?" Tarquin sneered. "What can Hogwarts do to me? Deduct points? My family is a member of the Hogwarts Board of Governors. Hogwarts has no power to expel me! What's more, I'm already in my sixth year. It's only one year left whether I attend school or not, so even if I leave Hogwarts, I don't care."

Looking at the other person, Sean slightly moved his limbs.

Giant Strength gave him monstrous strength far beyond ordinary people, and Giant Hide gave him quite impressive defense, especially resistance to magic. This was enough for Sean to take Tarquin's magic and still be able to punch him. What's more, he still had his wand in hand and could use magic.

Sean slowly raised his hand, intending to cast another spell.

The opposite Tarquin did the same, but just as the two were about to fight, an angry voice suddenly sounded in the corridor.

"What are you two doing here?"

Sean was very familiar with this voice. Upon hearing it, Sean immediately knew that this fight was going to end without a conclusion. It was a pity; if this fight could have continued, Sean might have been able to extract abilities from this Tarquin more than once.

Snape walked out from behind a corner. He glanced at Sean, confirmed that he was alright, and then looked at Tarquin, saying, "Tarquin, I told you before that if you ever attacked any student within Hogwarts again, I would make you pay. It seems you didn't take my words to heart, or perhaps you think you no longer need to obey me."

Tarquin looked at Snape, and after a long while, he lowered his wand and said with a forced smile, "Of course not. This was just an accident. I'm truly sorry, Mr. Dean."
