Chapter 3 - The Great War

hope I didn't get here too late.

What is this? No, no, no, no, no!

My family… they're all dead!

Noooooo!

In this world, the weak are preyed upon while the gods play chess with these wars for their own enjoyment.

This cannot be. I will not let it be!

System, how much to resurrect my family?

SYSTEM: Huh?

How much?

SYSTEM: All your points. But it will also drain your cultivation progress.

Do it!

SYSTEM: Beginning resurrection…

Mom, Dad! You're alive!

Thank the heavens!

What happened, Mom?

Mom: The Golden Elephant Sect attacked us while we were fighting our rivals, the Blue Viper Sect.

Another war might start, son. We may need your help.

*Okay, Mom. Just rest and heal. I'll train and gather information to gain the advantage.

Looks like I'm back to the Body Refining stage. That drained a ton of my cultivation progress.

At least I still have my family.

I've learned a lot more about this world—actually, not just this world, but how the universe supposedly functions as a whole.

First off, there are dimensions that destroy concepts. Supposedly, these dimensions predate existence itself.

There are also dimensions that create concepts. These are described as realms of pure creation, and they're believed to be trapped timelines from when this specific universe was first formed. As for the other universes—no one knows.

I may have also gotten more information from the System about this universe. Apparently, this universe doesn't require concepts to function. In fact, it transcends concepts entirely—including space, time, and dimensionality. The only reason those things even exist is to allow lower lifeforms like us to function.

There are also dimensions where demons exist. These, too, are said to predate creation entirely. Supposedly, the demons created a separate universe, fully independent from this one.

As for how time functions—well, it's strange. Each timeline is infinitely overlapping and knotted. But it's not just one timeline—there are over a null number of timelines, each completely separate from the others. Every one of them holds a different fate for each cultivator, depending on how far they transcend into the layered realms of cultivation.

I've learned a lot about this world but there's still much more I can learn.

System take me into the void.

System: Transporting host to void.
