Chapter 6 - Genesis Rift: A Novice Dungeon

"Do you think this is a good decision? I feel like… they're hiding something from us."

In an elegant and luxurious meeting room, decorated with fine wood and shining lamps, a middle-aged man asked the woman opposite him, sounding slightly worried.

"We have no choice. Now that your father is ill, we must attach ourselves to some power. Otherwise, do you think the title of nobility alone will save us from the coming war?"

The woman opposite, wearing a deep emerald gown that matched her sharp eyes, replied and continued,

"You and I both know money without power is a curse. With our limited strength and unreliable outside aid, how long can we really protect ourselves? Sigh… someone has already started attacking our fleet at sea."

She furrowed her brows as if worried about the growing threats closing in on all sides.

"Besides, the Edoria royal family has even given a quota for our son. I think there shouldn't be any problem. It'll be a good investment if Lucien manages to awaken his class."

Only when talking about her son did she finally show a beautiful smile on her face, lighting up the entire room.

She, Seraphine Goldveil, didn't care about this little money as long as her son could awaken his class.

His low talent had been a pain for her for a long time already.

"Haha, you're right. As long as our son awakens the class, everything will be worth it."

When it came to Lucien, even Viscount Cedric showed a big smile on his lips.

Both parents were spoiling their kid with abandon. No wonder Lucien turned prodigal.

"Dad, Mom, did you ask me to come?"

Just as they were deep in discussion, the door to the room quietly opened, and a tall youth dressed in fine, luxurious clothes stepped inside. His eyes were sharp with confidence, and his looks could make you turn twice.

It was none other than Lucien.

"Son, you finally came? Did you go into that Golden Hearth Inn again? How many times have I told you not to go into that shabby place? Look, you have become thinner."

As soon as Seraphine saw her son, she stood up hurriedly and hugged Lucien without giving him a chance to react.

Since she used mana, the poor guy didn't even manage to see his mother's figure before his head vanished into the valley below.

"Mom! Can you be a little serious?"

Lucien shouted from the warm embrace inside, barely managing to get out. He was already a head taller than her, and she was still treating him as a child.

But he had to admit that even after transmigration, he felt no qualms about his relationship with his parents—perhaps because of having a similar name to this body or something else, he felt no aversion at all.

"What? Are you embarrassed? Look, Lucien's father—it seems my son has grown up now!"

Seraphine saw the embarrassed look on Lucien's face and laughed heartily while signaling to his father.

"Haha… now he is of age, and about to awaken his class. Of course, he has grown up."

Cedric laughed and patted Lucien's shoulder as if to show how proud he was of his son for basically no reason.

"Yeah, yeah, I heard he even began to invest nowadays. He has become smart."

Mother Seraphine said with a proud look, causing both Cedric and Lucien to twitch their mouths speechlessly.

Well, a mother's love is blind, and she couldn't be blamed.

"Ahem, anyway… so, why did you ask me to come?"

Feeling awkward, Lucien quickly steered the conversation back on track. He knew how much of a smartass he was for investing.

Was there a need for anyone to remind him?

"Oh, yeah. Sit down first. We have something to tell you."

Viscount Cedric remembered their discussion just now and immediately became solemn. Seraphine also reined in her emotions and began to talk after seeing Lucien sit down next to her,

"Well, you already know why we came here, right?" she asked first, her voice calm but laced with gravity.

"Yeah, to enter the Genesis Rift dungeon and awaken my class."

Lucien nodded, as he had already more or less digested the information from his memories.

Surprisingly, the world he'd transmigrated to was indeed a medieval realm filled with mages and magic, just like the novel he'd once read.

Yet it was unique in one crucial way, as countless dimensional dungeons were scattered across the land.

The Genesis Rift he just mentioned was a Novice dungeon that was helpful in class awakening, owned by the Royal family, Edoria.

"Umm… that dungeon is indeed helpful for your class awakening."

Seraphine nodded at Lucien, then showed a reluctant expression on her face,

"Well, although after entering Genesis Rift you can awaken your class, there is a small chance of failure. After all, your talent is too low, and there is a high chance you might not awaken any class at all."

While saying that, Seraphine looked at Lucien as if to see whether he would react. After all, he used to get upset whenever someone mentioned his talent, no matter who it was.

"I know, Mom. No need to look for my reaction. My talent is low, and there is a chance that I might not even awaken the class."

Lucien saw her look and waved his hands to show that he didn't mind.

Actually, even with the Minor Mana Sensitivity skill he got from Alchemist Devan, he was unsure if he would be able to awaken his class.

That's why he was eager to leave after dealing with them here.

If he could suck some blood from those scammers, he should have no problem tomorrow. Only, he was unsure where to find a reliable target like Devan.

"Well, it is good that you know. Haha… my son seems to have really grown up." Hearing his words, Seraphine visibly breathed a sigh of relief and continued,

"Since we know your chances are slim, we finally decided to do something. Do you know that, unlike other Novice dungeons around, the Genesis Rift has its own Awakening Altar?"
