He didn't had any money problem in the initial phases because, all of the savings of his father was left to him by his father.
3 years later. That's at the age of 21, he reached the peak of Dou Disciple then he tried to breakthrough into the Dou practitioner rank, and may be due to luck, he successfully managed to breakthrough in one go.
In normal case, if you are not lucky or have no good background, it might even take 10 attempts to breakthrough into the Practitioner level.
At the young age of 21, he became a Dou practitioner. He might not be the most talented person in Jia Ma empire but he definitely wasn't simple.

At that day, they both fought like a mad dog. Han Sen was a peak Dou Practitioner, which was no match to a Dou Master but due to the Wolf's breakthrough just a day ago. The Wolf's realm was unstable. He even had some injuries, which forced it to only use half of it's actual strength.
Both the wolf and Han Sen fought fiercely. Despite the wolf could only use half of it's strength. The wolf beat him to pulp. But Han Sen wasn't idle, he also inflicted heavy damage on wolf. Almost bringing it to the death's door.
After that he retreated, found a cave and decided to heal his wounds, but alas.... his injuries were too serious and in a retreat, he just passed away.
And like this, a world lost a potential candidate to an Emperor...or...
