Enzo's Pov
"Guess folding my hands did pay off afterall." I thought, my conscience holding me responsible. I always knew how to handle Lucian, thanks to him my curiosity would be cleared.
My eyes turned away from him, prepared to listen, pretended to not. That was the easiest way to get him to talk. If anything, Lucian was one power driven bastard who never gave in to defeat but keeps losing, which brought me to the conclusion that he was just a sore loser that never learns.
"You know, Hayley was supposed to be mine. She was betrothed to me but your father gave her to you while I was out of town. She was really pretty and sweet though. Her colourful eyes and mute lips that only moves when I'm around. I was her safe place." He paused, sat on the ground and waved his hands dismissively.
The guys gathered around us finally left and it was just us in the hallway. "Hayley should be at the safe house by now." I thought, my mind swirling in believing the truth. It felt nice knowing I could trust Camilla, Stella would probably sell her off before I got what I wanted.
"So, you see… she was mine, Enzo. You should hand her over to me silently. I don't mind if you've touched her, she was never one to talk back anyways but I've seen she has grown, thanks to you. I wasn't expecting you to love her, she's just a mere daughter to the Alpha. Let me take her and you can back off with no issue." He patted my back and leaned in, "hmm?" He said. What was he expecting? An approval of what he was going to take by force?
I smirked and pulled his hands off, broke his finger and twisted his arms. He yelled, I kept my legs on his back that was already on the ground, his face pressed to the floor.
"You're just as foolish as you've always been." I said, "you can't handle me alone, yet you dismissed your hoodlums. What a stupid act!" I added, pressing his already broken finger. He yelled out, powerless at the moment, he began pleading.
As expected, loads of shit from a sore loser. "Listen, Hayley is mine and I'm not letting her go. You walked into my pack to destroy my things and think I'll let you go easily?"
"Just let go of my arm, you freak." He groaned. I wasn't giving him the excruciating pain he deserved, not at the moment.
Letting him go was the wisest thing I could do, he would be back and he'll fall again. To the face of the world alone that my true form would be kept away, I couldn't risk anyone knowing I had the blood of the true Alpha King. To Lucian, it was just a position for the most influential and strong, but my Rhea made me promise not to sell it out for no reason. I wasn't planning on breaking the promise.
I pulled off from him and he stood up like nothing happened, cracked his neck and fixed his broken finger. He turned away and cursed at me. I couldn't care less.
The whole town would freak out if news went round that I killed Lucian, he had an influence and it would only hurt my pack and my family to kill anyone just like that. The world has a weird sense of not keeping the truth to be exactly as it is.
I took out my phone and dialed Camilla's number. She picked up at the first ring. "Yes Enzo."
"How is she?"
"She's fine. She fell asleep after taking a cup of coffee."
"Thank you. You both can stay safe there while I clean up Lucian's mess."
"Sure. I wasn't going to leave anyways. This place is so much better than the pack itself." She chuckled.
"Take care of yourselves, I'll pick you up in the morning."
I took a deep breath and pulled Zane out of the way, he was probably drunk and weaker after clearing the party all by himself. I had to call in Josh to take care of everything. I needed a nice sleep after all that went on.
The morning sun that filtered through the opened windows I probably forgot to close, penetrated my eyes. I felt sore all over and took my bath.
"Get breakfast ready before I get back. And make sure Josh gets everything he needs to secure the pack. If what happened last night repeats itself, I'm not sparring either of you." I warned, making sure everything was perfect before I left.
Zane nodded and watched as I drove out of the wide mansion, the secured home for my likes. My hands on the steering wheel only gave me more consciousness that my claws were sick of staying hidden, and keeping Kai hidden too. He doesn't talk much and has always listened to me, he gave more reasons for me to be on the safe side especially with Lucian.
I alighted from the car and the first thing I got in the morning was a slap. "Why did you leave me alone all night with someone like that?" She asked, pain dripping from her voice. "I expected you to show up, why did you bring me to such a devastating atmosphere?"
"Isn't it better you weren't almost killed?" I asked.
"Who said I'm scared of death?" she answered. I took a step back and rubbed my cheek still feeling hurt.
"Get in the car." I ordered.
"No, I'm staying. Camilla's making breakfast." She argued.
"What!? You just called her a bitch! Did you suddenly change your mind after feeding my face on your fist?"
"I didn't mention it was Camilla who gave me a hard time." She peaked and turned back into the house.
I pulled her hands back and left no space between us. "Who else is in the house?"
"You didn't know? Stella arrived almost immediately after we got here." she responded.
I didn't realize how tight my grip was until she sniffled. "Let go of me now. You're hurting me."
I only gave Camilla access to the safe house, because the car could only drive to the safe house and nothing else. How did Stella get into the house?
