Chapter 15 - chapter 15;SPARK OF ATTRACTION AND ANNOYANCE

Chapter 15

As he closed in on me,Suddenly, he was right in front of me, his tall frame looming over mine like a shadow. My back pressed against the shelf, and his hand rested on the shelf beside me, trapping me in a cage of his presence. The air seemed to vibrate with tension as he leaned in, his face inches from mine.

I gazed up at him, my heart racing with a mix of surprise and attraction. Up close, he was breathtakingly handsome, his features chiseled and refined like a work of art. His scent wafted through the air, a heavenly aroma that left me weak in the knees.

"If you are going to try to make an impression, you might want to start growing a few more inches..some things just can't be fixed and your height is one of them!" He whispered, his breath caressing my skin.

As he turned to leave, his movements were fluid and confident, like a predator stalking its prey. I felt my senses reel, my mind struggling to keep up with the whirlwind of emotions that had taken over. But I wasn't about to let him get the better of me.

"Wait, what did you just call me? A shorty? Oh, my god, no, I am not taking this!" I exclaimed, my voice rising in indignation like a tempest. My eyes flashed with annoyance as I glared at him, my hands planted firmly on my hips. The audacity! "Excuse me? You think you can just insult me like that and get away with it? Newsflash: I'm not exactly thrilled about being called 'shorty' by someone who's basically a giant," I spat, my words dripping with venom.

I took a step closer to him, my anger and embarrassment simmering just below the surface like a pot about to boil over. My voice was a low, deadly whisper. "You know what's even taller than you? Your ego!" I barked at him, the words tumbling out like a challenge. I gazed at him, and he was clearly shocked, his eyes widening in surprise like a man caught off guard.

A sly smile spread across my face as I continued, my tone dripping with sarcasm. "So, you're trying to intimidate me with your giraffe impression? Sorry, I'm not intimidated. Is this how you go around intimidating everyone? Because, honestly, it's not working on me." My voice was firm, unwavering, as I stood my ground, refusing to back down.

"I don't think I've done anything to deserve this kind of treatment," I said, my words a quiet accusation. "So, either apologize or... well, I'm not sure what the 'or' is, but I'm ready for it." The air was thick with tension as I waited for his response, my eyes locked on his, daring him to make his next move.

I wasn't going to let anyone intimidate me, least of all this handsome stranger who seemed to think he could just swoop in and claim the book – and maybe even my attention.

He stood speechless, his eyes blank as he turned to walk away. I breathed out, feeling a mix of relief and annoyance. By now, students had already gathered, their faces a picture of shock and curiosity. I didn't care; I was still fuming.

Just then, Jo rushed towards me, his face etched with concern. "Hey, are you okay?" he asked, gently turning me around. "What happened?"

I raised an eyebrow, still simmering with anger. "I'm fine, Jo,what are you doing here?"

Jo's eyes scanned the area before focusing on me. "I came to collect some books. What happened?" he asked, his voice low. I waved my hand dismissively. "It's nothing. Just some guy who thinks he's above everyone else."

Jo's expression turned serious. "You need to be careful. He's not someone you can mess with." I snorted, rolling my eyes. "Does he think he's a god or something? He just came in and took the book I was about to take." Jo's grip on my arm tightened. "Just avoid him, okay? His father owns this school. He's not really someone you can mess with."

I raised an eyebrow, intrigued despite myself. "So what? Does he think he's above everyone just because his father owns the school?"

Jo looked at me "he's got an attitude to match."

I scoffed, still fuming. "Well, he's got a lot to learn about humility. And what's with the 'he's handsome' act? Does he think he's god's gift or something?" Jo just shook his head, his eyes warning me to drop it.

Jo escorted me out of the library,we walked to a particular spot,he said he had to leave for music class.

As Jo bid me farewell, his fingers danced in the air, pointing towards me with an air of casual familiarity. "Tonight, right? Tonight," he said, his voice laced with an unspoken understanding. I nodded, a silent acknowledgment passing between us. With a fleeting smile, he turned and disappeared into the crowd, bound for his music class.

I stood alone, the fading sunlight casting long shadows behind me. The world seemed to slow its frantic pace, and for a moment, all was quiet. I pulled out my phone,My fingers hovered over the keypad as I prepared to dial my mother's number, though I doubted she'd answer. She was always chasing the horizon, her travels taking her to places both familiar and unknown.

Before I could initiate the call, two girls materialized in front of me like specters. One of them reached out, her hand closing around my phone with a gentle yet firm touch. The device was wrested from my grasp, leaving me feeling momentarily disoriented.

"What's this all about? Who are you?" I demanded, a mix of confusion and annoyance swirling in my chest. One of the girls regarded me with an unyielding gaze, her eyes like two stones set in an unyielding mask. "You need to come with us," she declared, her voice devoid of emotion.

I laughed, the sound bursting forth like a challenge. "Oh, wait, did that guy... whoever he is... did he send you all to me?" The girl who had taken my phone spoke up, her tone as unyielding as her gaze. "You need to come with us and stop blabbering."

I studied them, searching for some glimmer of humor or humanity. But their faces were as impassive as stone, their eyes revealing nothing. A shiver danced down my spine as I wondered what lay ahead. "If I don't come with you, what will you do? Will you beat me up?" I asked, a hint of bravado creeping into my voice.

The other girl leaned in, her breath whispering against my ear. "Just come with us to avoid trouble." I shrugged, feigning nonchalance despite the growing unease in my chest. "Fine, I'm not scared of anyone of you. I'm going to come with you. I'm not scared at all."

With a sense of reluctant curiosity, I followed them.
