Chapter 262: Wang Dong'er's Embarrassment
"But what is this colorful ball of light?"
Lin Qinghan summoned his martial soul, which now possessed the three elements of thunder, ice, and fire. As he did so, a colorful glow suddenly appeared on his palm.
Previously, when his martial soul had only reached the three elemental attributes, what manifested was a tri-colored halo. But now, within the center of that halo, a colorful ball of light had emerged.
Lin Qinghan could clearly sense the aura of seven elements within it. The sections corresponding to thunder, ice, and fire were subtly connected by faint energy threads to his martial soul.
He recalled that during the God Test, when he fought against ten opponents carrying the Silver Dragon King bloodline, a colorful orb of light had entered his body upon victory.
The orb he had absorbed then should be the same one now present in his martial soul. Yet, despite probing it with his spiritual sense, Lin Qinghan could not perceive anything unique or active within it.
"Forget it. I'll ask Gu Yuena once she returns. Since this likely relates to the Silver Dragon King, she might know more."
Unable to figure it out for now, Lin Qinghan decided not to dwell on it further. At the very least, it didn't appear to be harmful.
Although Electrolux might have known, Lin Qinghan couldn't contact him at the moment.
Electrolux had long been in seclusion within the Undead Demiplane, aiming to further repair his spiritual power and strengthen his compatibility with his current body. He had been out of contact for some time now, but Lin Qinghan estimated that once he emerged, Electrolux's strength would have reached the god level.
Finishing his cultivation, Lin Qinghan exited the training room.
Thanks to his powerful spiritual power and the synchronization of his physical body with the spiritual realm, all of these developments—while massive—had actually taken less than two hours in the outside world, since they were below the god-level threshold.
---
"Big Dad, Second Dad, where did you take Qinghan? You told me to wait for a bit, and now he's just gone. Did you drive him away?!"
As Lin Qinghan walked into the living room, he overheard Wang Dong'er sounding anxious and upset.
Apparently, after hiding in her room for two hours, she had completed her meditation. Noticing the time, she wanted Lin Qinghan to rest in her room with her for the night. But returning to the living room and finding him missing, she immediately assumed the worst—that Niu Tian and Tai Tan had chased him off.
"Dong'er, can't you trust us a little? I said Lin Qinghan went to the training room. He had some things to work out. Just wait a couple of days—he'll be back."
Niu Tian was a little exasperated. If he had known, he would've asked Lin Qinghan to say goodbye first. But regrets were useless now; they could only try to pacify this "little ancestor."
Given Wang Dong'er's headstrong personality since her time in Shrek, Niu Tian and Tai Tan had clearly spoiled her. She wasn't so easygoing with others as she was with Lin Qinghan.
As such, neither of them had the heart to scold her for being unreasonable, nor did she give them a chance to explain properly. They could only hope Lin Qinghan would finish his training quickly.
---
"Ahem, I've finished."
Lin Qinghan, seeing the aggrieved look on Wang Dong'er's face, quietly stepped into the living room and gave a soft cough to alert her.
"Qinghan! I thought you were gone!"
Hearing the voice she had been longing for, Wang Dong'er turned around in surprise. When she saw Lin Qinghan, she instantly threw herself into his arms in excitement.
She had vaguely sensed that her two adoptive fathers didn't like Lin Qinghan. And Lin Qinghan wasn't the kind of person who tolerated being wronged. A conflict between them felt inevitable.
Even if they didn't fight, what if her fathers had simply told Lin Qinghan to leave?
Considering his astonishing speed, he could be anywhere on the Douluo Continent in no time. If he had truly left in frustration, she would have no way to find him—only wait helplessly at the Sun Moon Royal Soul Instructor Academy or Shrek Academy.
"Of course I didn't leave. I just had to handle a cultivation issue. Didn't they tell you?"
Lin Qinghan was puzzled by Wang Dong'er's extreme reaction. Hadn't they only been apart for a few hours?
"Huh? So it was true… I…"
After hearing Lin Qinghan's explanation, Wang Dong'er realized she had been mistaken. Tai Tan and Niu Tian had told her the truth, but she hadn't believed them—and even accused them of being unfair.
If Lin Qinghan had really been driven away, her anger would have made sense. But now that he hadn't, she realized she'd been throwing a tantrum for no reason.
"I'm sorry, Daddy, Second Daddy. Qinghan and I are going to rest first—you two go ahead and talk."
Wang Dong'er's face turned bright red—not from flirtation this time, but pure embarrassment over her own behavior.
She didn't dare look directly at Niu Tian or Tai Tan, and quickly dragged Lin Qinghan back to her room.
---
The two men didn't comment on her reaction or on her pulling Lin Qinghan away.
"Brother… do you think Lin Qinghan really likes Dong'er?"
Watching their retreating backs, Tai Tan asked thoughtfully.
They both understood Wang Dong'er's nature well. She was very self-respecting, and would only act so boldly with someone she truly loved.
Even toward them, after she grew up, she had kept her distance—no hugs, no contact. The last time she'd hugged either of them was years ago.
In fact, ever since she turned ten, the only man Wang Dong'er had interacted closely with was Lin Qinghan.
"I think so. But Lin Qinghan's emotions are restrained, and his power is unusual—I really can't see through him."
Niu Tian thought about it and gave his assessment. He couldn't say for certain whether Lin Qinghan's love for Wang Dong'er was sincere.
But since Wang Dong'er chose Lin Qinghan, and Lin Qinghan promised to save her, there wasn't much more they could do as her adoptive fathers. Other matters weren't theirs to question.
