Chapter 2 - Waking up in someone else's body Part 2

been two days since I last saw my sister, whose name I've learned is Elena, and I've learned a few things about this world. First of all, the name of the owner of this body is Dan Noctine, the current heir to the title of head of the Noctine family, which is the second greatest family after the royal family. I thought this world was medieval, but I was wrong. This world has modern devices, perhaps even more advanced than those in my world.

This world seems to contain non-human races of elves and dwarves, and they come from other worlds.

There is a race of demons, and this race is hostile to all other races. I've heard that there are spirits that can be contracted, but it depends on who has the talent for contracting.

Speaking of talent, I seem to have an A-rated talent. It sounded great at first, but then I learned that there are S, SS even SSS talents. The A talent might be great for others, but since I'm the next head of the family, it's considered low. I have to wait for the system to show up or something.

It seems that people who have the talent are called awakened and the awakening begins at the age of fifteen and starts with rank E, I really began to think I had stepped into a world within a novel.

There's a lot of opposition from family members to me being the next head of the family, and there are those who are demanding that the older sister become the head of the family, but she keeps refusing and supports me even with all the opposition. She seems to really care about her little brother even though he doesn't seem like a good person at all. It's enough that one of the servants accidentally dropped the tea cup, and he's crying and begging for mercy. Only, what kind of person is the owner of this body that others are so afraid of him?

Then someone came up to me, the same girl with short black-colored hair and the same maid's uniform.

Good morning, young master.

Yes, good morning, Tia.

The knight who hit me is called Tia, and while still wearing the maid's uniform, and she's a Nocturne knight ,she is a rank A . The big Sister removed her from her position as a knight and made her an official maid. In fact, I asked her to commute the punishment, but the look on her face made me shut my mouth.

If you love your brother so much, why did you beat him? After all, she became my personal maid as punishment for her actions.

Sir, I brought the measuring device as you requested.

Tia grabbed a fist-sized device and left the room. The device measures the talent of the elements. In this world, there is more than one element, and a single individual has multiple elements they can use. He can focus on one element or more than one element, and each element has a talent and talent grades from E to SSS with the highest talent in an element determining the talent.

There are several types of them. There are basic elements such as fire, wind, light, and darkness, and branching elements such as iron, ice, sand, shadows, and many others.

Now let's see what my talents are. I put my arm on the device and pumped a little bit of what is known as Mana, which at first I thought was difficult, but it turned out to be easier than I thought. Then, a holographic writing appeared above the device, and for a moment I thought the system had finally appeared, but I was quickly disappointed when I realized it was from the device itself, and my talent stats were as follows:

Darkness: 60%

Shadows: 75%

Blood: 74%

Fire: 62%

As said before, I seem to have a weak talent for Darkness, and my highest talent is for Shadows. There's Blood, which sounds interesting, and Fire as well. But there was more. When I saw it, I froze. There were two more elements. One was the 40% time element, and the other was what shocked me:

Space: 100%

This is an unexpected surprise. I've heard that there's another type of element called special elements, and they're extremely rare. It's really strange to have two such elements, but the fact that one of them is 100%, doesn't that make me a genius? Then why all these doubts about my lack of talent? Maybe I should ask Sister about it.

Well, maybe there's something in the diary of the owner of this body. What surprises me is the diary book I found in the room. It contains information about the names of the people in the palace. At first, I suspected that the owner of this body knew that I was going to replace him, but when I saw on one of the pages in large print just one word, "I'm sorry," I began to realize that he knew I was coming. But why would he know that, and why would he leave me this diary? I hope he didn't take over my body.

Okay, let's put the diary on hold. I have to prepare myself for the meeting Sister told me about.

The reason? It's not hard to guess... surely their objection to me being the head of the family.

I let out a long sigh as I open the wardrobe. I chose a black coat with silver trim and a dark navy shirt, and I wore a simple bracelet that I used to see on Dan's hand in pictures.

I looked at myself for a moment... the face was his, but the soul was no longer his

"Young sir, the car is waiting for you."

It was Tia's voice from behind the door.

"That's good, what about the older sister?"

"I was told that she will join us in another car as she has some work to do.

We went outside and what I saw was a limousine, a fancy, modern limousine like I've never seen before. Well, it's not like I've ever seen a limousine before.

The limo was cruising down the road, strangely still, the sun touching the horizon.

I sat silently in the back, while Tia sat across from me, looking out the window with a concentration I didn't recognize.

"Tia?"

She didn't answer right away. Her features were taut, wary.

"This way... it's not the usual route to the family elders' hall."

I raised my eyebrows. "You mean the driver changed the route?"

I nodded. "Yes, and the road we're on now... it leads to a deserted area. No one comes here."

I whispered, looking out the window: "Is it a mistake... or a trap?

Our conversation was interrupted by the sudden stop of the vehicle.

"Stay behind me." Tia said quickly as she took her sword out of her belt, her tone not the one I was used to.

Then came the voice:

"Open the door and get rid of them."

The doors slammed open, and the first person rushed into the carriage, his face covered by a leather mask, his sword pointing straight at me.

But Tia was faster. She blocked him with her sword and ran with him out of the carriage, screaming:

"Run, sir!"

I remained frozen in place, but before I could move, a second entered from the opposite side, his eyes filled with coldness.

He raised his dagger high. I didn't have time to think.

But he didn't reach me.

A scream... then blood.

Tia.

She had lunged again, her body in the way of the dagger.

She was stabbed.

A scream came out of my mouth without me realizing it:

"Tia!"

She turned to me slowly, blood dripping from the side of her mouth:

"Sir... survival... is more important..."

She fell to the ground.

I don't know exactly what happened next. My vision became blurry, and my body temperature rose suddenly.

Then I felt something in my neck, and I looked up in shock

"Blood?"

My neck is covered in blood, my blood?

"Accept my apologies, young master, but the family elder refuses to let you stay. If you want to blame anyone, blame the young lady.

The voices of the assassins became distant... very distant.

The earth was swallowing me, or so I felt.

Tia...

Tia died because of me.

Everything began to disappear... light, sound, sensation.

Is this… the end of me?
