The group launched attack after attack against Ooze, but nothing seemed to be working. Every time they thought they had him cornered, he would shift and flow out of the way, his liquid-like body making him almost untouchable.
Cain's flames just seemed to roll off Ooze's body, like water off a duck's back. Sylvia's lightning-fast sword strikes were dodged with ease, as Ooze seemed to anticipate every move. Glenn's dragon fire was met with a wave of liquid that extinguished the flames and sent them stumbling back.
David's werewolf claws swiped through Ooze's body, but he just reformed and came back at them, like a never-ending nightmare. Echo's psychic powers were disrupted by Ooze's unpredictable movements, making it hard for her to land a hit.
The group was getting frustrated and exhausted, their movements slowing as Ooze continued to adapt and counter their attacks. Carmella watched with a mixture of amusement and interest, seeming to enjoy the group's struggles.
"You see, Ooze's powers are not just about manipulating liquids," she said, her voice dripping with condescension. "He can also change the state of matter itself. You're not going to win this fight with brute force alone."
The group knew they had to think fast, or risk being overwhelmed by Ooze's abilities. They needed a new strategy, and fast, if they were going to survive this battle.
The group finally managed to gain the upper hand against Ooze, thanks to Cain's desperate gamble. With a Herculean effort, Cain summoned a massive fire vortex that engulfed Ooze, evaporating the liquid monstrosity into nothingness.
