Chapter 10 - 5. DO OR DIE

AUTHOR'S POV

I need a divorce and your resignation from my father's company. Now.

"Haaaaaaaaaa!"

Vinesh's rage echoed as the car screeched on the road tumultuously against the road.

Misha came running down her apartment the moment she heard the tires screech.

Without uttering a word, she yanked open the door of the passenger seat and slipped into the seat besides him. Her hands immediately moved to the side of his shoulder to massage his tensed shoulder.

"That bitch wants a freaking divorce now!!!"

He roared slamming his fists against the steering wheel repeatedly. His entire face was red, dripping anger from its every cell.

Misha didn't flinch.

She cupped his face between her palms, forcing his wild eyes to meet hers.

"Vee, breathe. Think clearly. You cannot mess things up. You've-"

"She is messing things up. A bitch of a woman! I swear to god! I'd have killed her hadn't the papers been a problem!"

He snarled, trying to jerk away his face out of her grip but she forcefully tightened her grip, fixating his face just in front of her. Only she could tame him.

"Look at me."

She ordered and dabbed her eye lids in a slow, calming rhythm. Instantly his eyes softened. The muscles of his shoulders began to relax and the colour of his face started to return, gradually.

Slowly, she leaned in and brushed her lips against and without holding back even for a second, he wrapped his lips around hers.

He rage began melting like ice as he closed his eyes to feel her love seep through him.

After what felt like an eternity, they finally pulled apart, gasping for air. Their breaths were heavy and the fire in Vinesh's eyes had cooled down, momentarily.

He heaved a sigh.

Running a hand through his disheveled hair, he explained.

"Misha, I've worked so hard to get where I'm now. And, at this point, I cannot let things get ruined."

"Could you not bring your daughter into this, Vee? She might have changed her mind..."

"I did that too!"

--

"God! Chhavi! We've a daughter for God sake!"

"Don't try to manipulate me, Vinesh. I won't fall for this. Not today. Never again!"

"Ten years, Chhavi...galat kar rahi ho, Chhavi."

--

"Well, gift it her, then. Throw it all in her face. We can finally marry if she divorces you."

"But the property, Misha. I-"

She traced her index finger on the curve of his lips to silence him up. A sly smile formed on her lips reflecting the sinister thoughts running in her mind.

"When the thorn graces your path, you rip the thorn off, Vinesh. Clean."

His hands slipped to her thighs, massaging them firmly as his eyes darkened. Without breaking the eye contact, he growled with the same intensity in his voice.

"And how exactly do we do that, Misha?"

She leaned in closer, her lips just a breath away from his.

"By using the right connections at the right time, Vinesh."

"Oh baby! Stop calling me Vinesh. 'Vee' sounds to good from your mouth."

She bit her lower lip and replied in a husky tone.

"Uh huh. 'Vee' sounds better when I moan it out."

He leaned in, brushing his nose along her cheek and whispered.

"Let's make you do that, hmm?"

She chuckled pushing him away.

"The plan first, Vinesh."

He groaned in frustration but nodded.

"Fine. Get in touch with whoever can get her out of my way. I don't care how. I just need her gone."

Misha smirked and stated.

"Hmm, just get it out of your mind and relax. I'll handle it."

"Good. But listen..." He grabbed her wrist and in a serious voice he warned. "Keep my daughter out of this mess."

She waved him off nonchalantly.

"Yeah, yeah. Fine. So...now..."

She started undoing his buttons while seductively dragging her words.

"Lets get down to business, hmm?"

He smirked, grabbing her waist and pulling her top off in one swift motion and starting eating her lips like a hungry lion.

--

On the other side,Chhavi's hands trembled as the conversation on the audio clip striked her eardrums, with panic setting into her.

Get in touch with whoever can get her out of my way. I don't care how. I just need her gone.

Her fingers shook, head spun. It felt like she was on the brink of her demise and if she doesn't take as step now, she'll be gone forever and nobody will bother to know what had actually happened. Without waiting anymore, she rushed to her daughter's bedroom.

Only an hour ago, she had put Aahana to sleep but now, she shook her vigorously.

"Aahana, baccha, utho jaldi. Please jaldi utho!"

(Aahana, child, please wake up. Wake up, please!)

Aahana stirred awake and asked in an irritated baby voice.

"Kya hua, mumma..."

(What happened mom...)

"Baccha, we need to go to the airport right now. As soon as possible!"

For a second, her face reflected confusion but in the next second, it gleaned wiht excitement.

"Is father taking us to the Ladakh trip?"

"Yes? Yes...yes, yes. We're going to Ladakh. We need to reach the airport in...in an hour."

Chhavi felt a pang in her chest as she forced a smile, hiding the fear in her voice.

"Is papa waiting for us there?"

Her throat tightened as she nodded.

'Yes. Yes!"

I hope he's not.

She somehow managed to convince sleepy daughter to pack a small suitcase while she gathered the essentials.

But, to her dismay, she couldn't find the property papers and she knew for sure that Vinesh has misplaced them.

Her heart sank but she knew at that moment, saving herself and Aahana was more important than any piece of paper or property. Hastily, she packed the jewelry her parents had gifted her, important documents, bank details and the savings she had tucked away from her former life as a professor. She crammed all of them into a small suitcase.

Her hands fumbled as she booked a cab on her phone. Her mind had frozen long ago yet she pushed herself to stay focused for her daughter's sake. Sweat covered her body as anxiety threatened to drown her.

The house was silent. Her in-laws were fast asleep and her husband was nowhere to be found. This was her only chance. If she didn't leave now, her next destination could be her grave.

As soon as the cab arrived, Chhavi quietly tiptoed down the hall with Aahana, who was wide-eyed with excitement about their supposed trip to the mountains.

"Mumma!"

"Shh... Aahana, dada-dadi are sleeping. We need to be quiet, okay?"

The eight years old nodded and tip toed alongside her mother to the cab and settled down in the back seat quietly, like a good girl.

The scarce moonlight didn't let the ladies get a sight of the driver's face and they hardly cared. One was fighting for her survival while the other was lost in the excitement of the trip her mother had promised her.

Twenty minutes later, they reached the airport. After passing through the security check, Chhavi released a shaky breath, nearly breaking down right there in front of her daughter. She had no idea where they would go, but staying at the Joshi bungalow was not an option. If necessary, she'd spend days at the airport, anything to avoid returning to that house of horrors.

They aimlessly walked into the lounge, Aahana clinging to her mother's pinky finger, still asking about her father. Chhavi's mind was spinning, trying to form a plan but she had no answers.

As they neared the cafeteria in the corner of the lounge, Chhavi suddenly stumbled into a hard chest. Her dazed thoughts shattered as she looked up to apologize, her words catching in her throat.

"Sorr—Drishye?!"

"Ma'am!"

"Hey... umm... hi."

She stammered, trying to compose herself.

"Hi, ma'am. It's been long. How are you?"

"Not...not good. Drishye..." She hesitated, then rushed out. "Can you...can you help me get out of Lucknow?"

Drishye's expression turned confused.

"Out of Lucknow...?"

"My daughter and I... we're not safe here. We... we might get killed."

"Oh god!"

Drishye gasped.

"Please help me, Drishye."

She begged joining her hands in front of him.

And without missing a beat, he replied.

"Of course, Ms. Rosy."
