Then he hurried back to the cottage and Karan locked it from behind. Then Anjani spoke up.
"What happened? We were getting some really good data…but we'll share our findings after you share yours."
Ishar took a deep breath in and said, "Well, you know that singular spot in the Arabian Sea-",
"Of course we know it. It's why most of us are here."Naren interrupted in his usual annoying voice.
Ishar calmed himself down, and said in a gentle tone,
"For once in your life Naren…listen. We found a witness saying that she saw a green light beam hit that exact spot, and then gradually turn invisible. Seeing that this type of behavior is most commonly present in weapon devices and nuclear stuff, Pratap and I have come to the theory that Pralaya-1 isn't an asteroid at all…it's something else entirely."
There was some uncomfortable murmuring in the room.
Then, hesitantly, Naren said in a gentle voice as if talking to a child,
"Look, Ishar. I know I've always considered you to be my enemy and considered you to be stupid, but now I'm actually concerned about your mental well being. Have you been eating and sleeping properly lately? Taking any pills? I know an army doctor who can-",
"-I'm fine Naren." Ishar said dryly,
"But come on. Don't you think that it's a tiny bit weird that a random object shows up and starts messing with everything, unlike any other stuff we've known?". Anjani sighed and nodded.
"You know," she started,
"I am beginning to have my doubts too. Have you wondered why the fishermen were scared? The 2 meter radius of the singular spot is completely devoid of any fish- any life for that matter. And…Gargi saw something too, I didn't believe her then, thought it was a trick on eyes, but now it might be true."
Gargi shot Anjani an I-told-you-so look and then started saying,
"Well, as we entered the 2 meter radius, I…felt or maybe saw something that I might've ignored that day with Nivedhan. It was like a translucent green wall that I entered, invisible from the outside, invisible from the inside. It can only be seen at the right time-when entering through it. I think that was the laser beam or communication screen - something that the girl saw as well."
The possibilities of it being a mass murder weapon were increasing faster than Ishar would've liked.
