Zeth awoke from the noise coming from outside the wagon. Their four-day journey to Hidden Valley City is almost at its end. Today is the morning of the fourth day.
The Long Road provided relative safety in their travels. It is aptly called as such because it is just one straight road that connects the Great Cities.
Along the Long Road, there are walled towns or villages. Depending on their prosperity, it can sometimes be just a watchtower with a house or two. Their spacing was strategically placed. No matter what terrain, their distance to each other can be roughly translated to 2 kilometers, because they serve as signalling beacons that send messages and alarms along their stretch.
Its purpose was to also cultivate resources in the surrounding lands of the Great Cities. Some towns and villages specialize in mining, quarrying, lumber, and most importantly, farming.
