Wednesday marked the start of the ocean summer camp.
The typhoon got blown away in one go by Lugia, and not long after, the sky cleared up and the sun came out in full force.
Even the weather forecast the next day had the newscaster sounding amazed as they announced several days of perfect sunny weather ahead.
Early that morning, several buses gathered at the school gate, and the second-year students showed up bright and early.
This summer camp was only for second-years.
Third-years already went last year, and the first-years would have their turn next year.
"Alright everyone, ready to go?" Shichen called out loudly after roll call was done.
"We're ready!"
"Then let's move out!"
"Woohoo!"
The students boarded their buses in an organized line. Shichen joined one of the buses, and along with him was Yami—now wearing the Sainan High summer uniform.
He'd prepared the uniform for her a while ago, planning to find a good time to let her try out school life for fun.
Est didn't come along—still sleeping in. Lala got way too hyped about the trip and ended up staying up late messing around.
Once on the bus, Shichen tried to sit with Yami, but she immediately walked off to sit with the girls.
So he ended up sitting next to Ryoko Mikado instead.
"Principal," Ryoko said with a gentle smile as he sat down beside her.
"Mikado-san."
"Not sitting with her?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
"It's just a short ride. Besides, she's got her friends," Shichen replied casually.
"Fair enough."
"By the way, Mikado-san—remember when you said I owed you a favor? Anything you want me to do?"
"Hm… Haven't thought of anything yet. Getting impatient, are we?" Ryoko teased, tapping her chin with one long finger and flashing a playful smile.
"Not really… just figured I'd check. Let me know when you've decided."
"Hehe~ Don't worry, I won't keep the principal waiting too long."
"Cool. I'm gonna catch a quick nap." Shichen leaned back and shut his eyes.
"Huh? You're just gonna sleep like that?" Ryoko looked at him in surprise.
She'd been observing Shichen for a while now—she was pretty sure he was a flirt. Not that he didn't have the right to be, being heir to the King of the Galaxy and all.
Honestly, she figured him sitting next to her might've meant something. After all, she was gorgeous, and pretty easygoing too. Most guys would make a move.
But instead, he just… went to sleep.
"Well… Lala got way too hyped about the camp last night and wouldn't settle down. It got pretty late," Shichen mumbled with his eyes still closed.
"I see…"
"If anything happens on the ride, wake me up, okay?"
"Sure."
The ride went smoothly. By the time Shichen woke up, they had already arrived at the destination—and he realized he had fallen asleep leaning on Ryoko's shoulder.
"Ah—sorry about that, Mikado-san."
"It's fine," she said with a smile. "You must've been tired."
"Yeah… let's get off."
He got up and led the way off the bus, with the students following behind.
"Welcome, everyone from Sainan High!"
As they stepped off the bus, the inn's owner—wearing a traditional kimono—greeted them, flanked by four middle-aged staff.
The owner was still elegant in her own way, but definitely not Shichen's type.
"Takami-sam, are the rooms ready?" Shichen asked as he approached.
"All set, Shichen-san," she replied.
"Thanks—appreciate it."
"Of course."
The inn was called Fushou Inn and had a long-standing partnership with Sainan High, so there wasn't much Shichen needed to do.
The students were assigned five per room. They grabbed their luggage and followed the staff to get settled in.
Teachers had two per room. But as the principal, Shichen had a room to himself—well, sort of. Yami was staying with him.
And Est could pop out at any moment too.
"Yami, can you help make the bed?" Shichen asked, sitting comfortably on the tatami floor.
"Why don't you do it yourself?" she shot back, frowning.
"You were gonna make yours anyway—just do mine too while you're at it."
Yami sighed, shook her head, and got to work without arguing.
Shichen sat by the low table, watching her. He had to admit, the uniform really suited her—golden hair, petite frame outlined by her tank top, and those long legs under the skirt…
She looked fresh, young, and full of energy.
Yami ignored his gaze, calmly making both beds with her back to him. Even with a skirt, she wasn't worried—she had shorts on underneath.
"All done."
"Nice. Come sit and chill for a bit," Shichen said, patting the spot beside him.
"I'm not tired."
"Just come here already."
Yami pressed her lips together and walked over. But before she could sit down, just as she expected, Shichen pulled her into his arms and sat her on his lap.
"What are you doing?" she asked flatly.
She wasn't bothered by it anymore. He hugged her all the time, and it wasn't like he ever did anything else.
"I just wanted to," Shichen said, resting his chin on her shoulder and holding her tighter.
"?"
"Hehe~ Don't worry about it. Let's just chill for a bit. It's almost lunchtime anyway."
"…What's even so great about hugging?"

"Yami..." Shichen suddenly called out to her, gently turning her around so she was facing him.
"I... I don't like stuff that's too intimate," Yami said with a flushed face, her voice barely audible.
"Is that so?" Shichen replied casually, as if he hadn't heard her, then slowly leaned in and kissed her.
"Mm!" Yami's eyes flew open in surprise.
But before she could react, Shichen drew even closer, deepening the moment.
Her eyes widened even further as a strange, tingling sensation overwhelmed her senses, leaving her mind in a blur.
Shichen kept his eyes open, a playful smile at the corner of his lips, locking eyes with her ruby-red gaze as he gently guided her.
Yami, however, couldn't respond or follow his lead at all. It was as if she'd lost control, simply moving along with him without conscious thought.
In the quiet room, only the soft rustling of movement could be heard now and then.
