Chapter 2 - “Beginner’s City” :2

Ethan stared at the floating system window which was in front of his eyes, his expression turned into disbelief and anticipation. With his shaky hands, he focused on the golden and black text and opened the [status] panel.

The interface flickered in front of him for a few seconds before it revealed a detailed breakdown of his character.

He was staring at the system window quietly. "Wow…it's actually like a game, this feels so real, it can't be a dream." He started smiling wildly.

His stats… were garbage. Bottom-tier, if some level 5 goblin slightly pinched him, he'd probably die.. he stretched his arms a bit and rolled his shoulders. His body didn't feel weak, though—at least it was not like before. It was leaner, taller and trained. It felt like he had been gifted with him a body that belonged to a certain prodigy.

But that SSS potential… that single line made everything meaningless.

He wasn't strong enough now. But, in the upcoming future, he could become something no one else could.

He was not just a player, not just a hero. He was an Overlord.

His excitement levels were reaching the skies. "What the fuck man, Overlord? This is some epic shit, it was not even in the actual story."

He turned to the open plains which were stretching around him. There were jagged rocks, dead trees, floating blocks in the distance…

Ethan opened the [Map] tab. A blinking marker guided him:

[Ember's Hollow – Beginner Town].

"Okay. Step one—let's go and find the town first. I should survive and learn about this system. And most importantly, I should level up."

He began walking, the journey wasn't too good. There were tons of stones beneath his feet, thin mana was filling the air, and there was a sense of tension that someone might be keeping an eye on him.

As he was moving further closer to the town, the reality started to hit him. Now he was confirming that he was here, that this is real.

This was the world that he once used to escape the reality of his useless life. Now he was in here.

The moment the wooden walls of Ember Hollow came into his sight, by then he was more determined than he had ever been in his whole life. This was his new life, there were no second chances, no logout button, just the grind.

The gates slowly creaked open. The hawkers yelled over at each other, selling cheap gear and roasted monster meat. A trio of mages argued over mana crystal prices, they were near a fountain. A blacksmith was pounding at a dull iron sword.

It was way too much chaotic, it was loud and noisy. Ethan loved it.

He made his way towards the Adventurer's guild—it was a two-story building, which was made out of dark oak and reinforced stone, its doors were wide open for people to enter. There were too many people around the adventurer's guild.

He entered the guild. Inside, the scent of iron, sweat and old parchment filled in the air. There were tons of quest boards on the wall. A line of rookies was standing before the red-haired receptionist. The place buzzed with shouting and laughter.

Ethan was a nobody in here. But, not for too long. He knew that he would rule over this world, he just had to start the grind to become the Overlord.

The moment when he was about to reach the front desk—

His eyes froze on someone, and his jaw dropped. "Holy shit!"
