c90: Sun God vs Marshadow
"Solgaleo, Gardevoir, Latias — come out now! Gardevoir, use Black Gaze don't let it escape!"
Chen Xiaoxiao swiftly pulled out an energy cube from her spatial pouch and hurled it out through the window of the Pocket Space.
(Note: Inherited from her system-born Ralts, Chen Xiaoxiao's Gardevoir possesses the rare psychic suppression move Black Gaze, a spiritual-binding technique that prevents dimensional or shadow-based escape.)
As Marshadow grabbed the energy cube, it suddenly froze mid-motion three immense auras had just emerged nearby.
Sensing danger, it prepared to phase into the ground using its innate ability to melt into shadows. But it found itself suddenly paralyzed a chilling, suppressive gaze clamped down on it like a vice.
Gardevoir's Black Gaze had locked onto it.
A unique sensory feedback loop native to mythical Pokémon triggered in Marshadow's core — not just one, but two legendary Pokémon stood before it!
And... the alluring scent of the energy cube still lingered, tempting its instincts further.
Marshadow froze, hesitating.
It slowly turned around and found itself encircled: Solgaleo, the Radiant Sun Pokémon, glowed with cosmic heat to the north; Gardevoir, cloaked in Psychic grace, floated ethereally to the west; Latias, her red-white body shimmering, hovered silently to the south.
"Marshadow, how about a friendly talk?"
Chen Xiaoxiao emerged with a calm smile, raising two packs of energy cubes one pure Ghost-type, the other a premium Fighting-type infused with PokéBlock-grade berries.
Marshadow's eyes twitched with suppressed excitement. Divine or not, even Mythical Pokémon got tired of eating dry Sitrus Berries and wild Pomeg leaves.
"Let's battle, Marshadow. What do you say?"
Chen Xiaoxiao had seen through its weakness. Battle before treat a simple trade.
Marshadow hesitated. Its instincts screamed to flee, but it couldn't Gardevoir's Black Gaze locked its escape, while the other two legends closed the distance.
A tactical decision: if there's no escape, fight and earn the cube.
Eyes still fixated on the cube, it slowly nodded.
"You want this?" Chen Xiaoxiao smiled knowingly. "Then win it in battle!"
Marshadow's eyes gleamed with fighting spirit.
"Now then... who should I send out? Latias hasn't yet reached Champion level. Gardevoir has the type advantage and with Mega Evolution, she'd be a good pick. Solgaleo… hmm, also Champion tier, high defenses, and not weak to Ghost-type moves because of Steel typing..."
She weighed her choices carefully.
(Xiaoxiao! Let me go!)
Solgaleo's voice echoed in her mind, radiating eagerness.
It had been too long since it faced a worthy mythical opponent!
Chen Xiaoxiao grinned.
"All right! Marshadow your opponent is Solgaleo! Solgaleo, open with Zen Headbutt!"
At her command, Solgaleo charged forward, Psychic energy surging to its metallic forehead.
Despite its naturally cautious nature, Marshadow didn't back down. Instead, it cloaked its fist in blazing red energy — a Fire Punch attack, countering Solgaleo's Steel typing.
BOOM!
The two clashed in midair Psychic and Flame exploding against one another both Pokémon were thrown backward by the impact!
But Marshadow recovered instantly, gathering dark energy into its palms and hurled a Shadow Ball straight at Solgaleo!
Chen Xiaoxiao narrowed her eyes. "Such fast move-chaining... this Marshadow is trained!"
"Solgaleo, Teleport, then apply Pressure!"
Solgaleo vanished in a blink, and the Shadow Ball crashed violently into the forest floor, blasting a crater nearly ten meters wide.
Reappearing behind Marshadow, Solgaleo released a wave of psychic suppression the oppressive energy of Pressure immediately increasing Marshadow's mental load.
But Marshadow, as if sensing the move instinctively, twisted mid-air, narrowly dodging the incoming Psyshock.
Its shadow suddenly writhed beneath it, Shadow Sneak shot out like a viper, curling around Solgaleo's flank!
A direct hit.
Solgaleo's body, though protected by its Full Metal Body ability and natural durability, reeled slightly Ghost-type moves were super effective against its Psychic typing, even if mitigated somewhat by Steel resistance.
Still, Solgaleo endured it and responded.
"Solgaleo, Metal Burst!"
(Metal Burst: Reflects damage taken dealing 1.5x the last move's power back to the attacker.)
The absorbed damage surged out in a radiant counterstrike, crashing into Marshadow with a tremendous concussive force!
Marshadow let out a pained cry as it was blasted backward, its body trailing smoke as it skidded across the field.
"Now! Flash Cannon, fire!"
Solgaleo roared and gathered light at its core — a focused beam of compressed photons surged outward, targeting the staggering Marshadow!
But then...
Something changed.
Dark mist began to rise around Marshadow's body, its form flickered, and a powerful Ghost aura surged visibly around it, swirling like storm clouds!
Its fists glowed black with raw emotion Shadow Punch after Shadow Punch slammed forward, colliding mid-air with the Flash Cannon beam!
The explosion of light and darkness rippled like a thunderclap.
A shockwave burst outward trees bent under the pressure, and Chen Xiaoxiao was forced to shield her eyes.
Her vision temporarily obscured.
Then—
WHAM!
A chilling energy surged.
From the darkness emerged Marshadow, fists pulsing with corrupt power — it had silently closed the distance and now stood behind Solgaleo.
"It's using Sucker Punch...!"
Chen Xiaoxiao gasped, her Psychic sensitivity alerting her to the sudden flux of evil-type energy behind her legendary partner.
"Solgaleo teleport, now!"
Too late.
Solgaleo had sensed it too, but before it could act, the hit landed.
The Dark-type Sucker Punch struck its flank hard bypassing its usual defenses and launching it hundreds of meters away!
"Solgaleo!!"
Chen Xiaoxiao shouted, eyes wide.
Solgaleo's body crashed through several layers of terrain, carving a trench in the earth before skidding to a halt.
It groaned, staggering to rise.
Chen Xiaoxiao clenched her fists.
"Marshadow… that was so strong!"
Even for a mythical Pokémon, that tactical awareness and timing were exceptional.
She'd underestimated just how skilled this shadow warrior was and now Solgaleo was hurt, the battle entering its most dangerous phase...
