Chapter 4 - Episode 4: whispers beneath the celestial veil

The Moon Gate had accepted her.

Yuexin stood taller now — glowing sigils floating behind her like wings made of runes and light. The six princes remained silent, but their gazes followed her like planets pulled to gravity.

Prince ran took a step forward.

> "What did you see in there?" he asked, voice low.

Yuexin met his eyes. "Not what… who."

His golden aura flickered.

> She remembered me… didn't she?

Scene: The Celestial Garden – Nightfall

Yuexin wandered alone through the starlit garden of the temple, surrounded by glowing spirit blossoms. Her fingers traced a floating sigil still hovering over her palm. Her mind buzzed with memory fragments:

— her past lives,

— the feeling of burning wings,

— and a golden aura that had always stood by her.

> Why do I feel safest near him?

Why does my soul… remember ran?

She closed her eyes.

And then —

she heard it.

A whisper from the trees.

> "Saintess… they are not all who they seem…"

She turned sharply, but nothing was there — only wind.

Scene: The First Clash

A loud crack split the air.

Yuexin and the six princes ran to the temple gate, where a black mist had begun seeping into the realm. A monstrous spirit beast, corrupted and twisted, burst from the mist — eyes glowing red.

The priests screamed. The barriers trembled.

Without hesitation, the princes leapt forward.

l ignited the ground with fire.

Ayen sent thunder crashing.

Feng froze the air around the beast.

Zen protected the wounded.

Yin vanished into shadows.

But it wasn't enough.

The beast charged toward yuexin.

And then—

Ran stepped in front of her, his aura blazing gold.

"Don't touch her," he growled.

With a burst of divine energy, he struck the beast down — just as yuexin's hand instinctively rose, glowing with raw, forgotten power.

Together, they cast the finishing blow.

Aftermath: The Glance

Breathing heavily, yuexin and Ruo stared at each other.

She touched his arm. "You protected me… again."

He lowered his eyes, struggling to hide his emotion.

> "I always will. Even if… I wasn't supposed to."

Her heart skipped.

Something in his voice — familiar, aching — told her he remembered more than he said.

But in the distance, a shadow watched from a crumbling realm…

And smiled.

> "So the moon shines again. Let's see how long before I eclipse it."
