Chiyu quickly caught wind of the chaos brewing within the Whitebeard Pirates.
Blackbeard—Marshall D. Teach—had betrayed his crew, killed his comrade Thatch, and was now being hunted down by Ace. Not even Red-Haired Shanks showing up in person could stop this massive turn of events.
But Chiyu already knew what was coming next.
The War at Marineford.
A major turning point for the entire One Piece world.
Of course, with Chiyu's presence already shaking the global power structure, it was hard to say if things would still unfold the same way.
For instance—
Blackbeard's original plan was to capture Ace and hand him over to the Navy in exchange for the title of Warlord. That title would give him access to Impel Down, allowing him to bust out powerful criminals and form the core of his own pirate crew.
But now? Not only was the Warlord system abolished, but most of the inmates in Impel Down had already been slaughtered by Chiyu. Even if Blackbeard managed to capture Ace, that plan was already dead in the water.
Still, it didn't mean he couldn't make a different deal. Blackbeard could very well trade Ace to the Navy for some other personal gain.
That sounded exactly like something he'd do.
Which meant… the War at Marineford could still happen.
Chiyu didn't hide his thoughts. He laid out his prediction for everyone to hear—making it clear it was just a hypothesis.
Zephyr frowned. "Ace, Whitebeard's second division commander, hasn't been at sea that long but already has a 500 million bounty. Word is, he's a real monster in battle… But this Teach guy? Nobody even knew his name. Just because he got the Dark-Dark Fruit, he can take out Ace, who has the Flame-Flame Fruit?"
Chiyu replied calmly, "I'm afraid the ending's already set in stone."
"The Dark-Dark Fruit is one of the most bizarre and dangerous Logia powers. And Blackbeard… he's not just strong—he's manipulative and deep. Ace can't match that."
Smoker took a long drag of his cigar and blew out a thick cloud. "If what you're saying is true, and Blackbeard defeats Ace and hands him over to the Navy—would Whitebeard really go to war against the entire Marine force just for one guy? That seems… extreme."
Chiyu smirked. "That's because you don't know two key secrets."
"Oh? What secrets?"
"First—Whitebeard's health is failing. He's been planning to step down. And the person he's chosen to succeed him… is Ace."
Everyone was stunned.
Zephyr nodded slowly. "That makes sense. That old bastard has been sick for years. It's just that he's so damn strong that people forget he's not immortal."
Chiyu continued. "Second—Ace's true identity. He's actually…"
"…the biological son of the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger."
This time, even Zephyr looked shaken.
"What?!"
"Gol D. Roger?!"
That name alone sent a chill down everyone's spine.
Zephyr muttered, "There were rumors that Roger had a son when he turned himself in… but the Marines and the World Government searched everywhere and never found him."
Chiyu said, "Of course they didn't. The boy was taken in by Garp—the Marine hero—on Roger's personal request."
Nami frowned. "But why Garp? He's a Marine legend and Roger was the Pirate King—they were enemies. Why would Roger trust him? And why would Garp agree?!"
Zephyr chuckled. "Nami, you're still young. People are more than just their allegiances. Even mortal enemies can share respect… or even friendship."
Nami nodded thoughtfully.
Chiyu continued, "Garp raised Ace, trying to turn him into a Marine. But maybe because of his bloodline, Ace still ended up becoming a pirate. By fate or coincidence, he joined Whitebeard and eventually became second division commander—calling Whitebeard his 'Old Man.'"
"Maybe it was just destiny playing tricks."
"Because of who he was, Whitebeard saw in Ace not just power and talent, but also influence. That's why he chose him to inherit his legacy."
"And that's exactly why—if Ace gets captured—Whitebeard won't hesitate to go all in to save him."
Zephyr nodded. "If Ace is Garp's foster son, then Sengoku and the top brass definitely know all of this. And based on how Sengoku operates, your prediction, Chiyu… it actually makes perfect sense."
"If this war breaks out, it could completely reshape the world. History itself might change."
Chiyu nodded. "That's why we prepare. Build strength. And wait for the spark."
"This war at Marineford—it's going to be the biggest variable yet."
Off to the side, Trafalgar Law frowned. "Chiyu-sama, your eyes… it's like you can really see the future. Is that your power?"
Chiyu just smiled faintly. "Maybe."
Smoker asked, "Chiyu, if that war really does happen, what should we do? We still owe Whitebeard a favor…"
Chiyu sighed. He never wavered in his ruthlessness—but even he had principles.
A debt is a debt.
"A warning wouldn't help—Whitebeard wouldn't believe me."
"And stopping it? Even Shanks couldn't. What chance do we have?"
"But I'll still do what I can. I'll pass my predictions to Jinbe. What Whitebeard does with that info… is his call."
"That's all I can do."
Smoker nodded. "Do our part… and leave the rest to fate."
Chiyu kept his word. He gave Jinbe the full rundown.
Jinbe was shaken and immediately brought the news to Whitebeard. At the time, Shanks hadn't left yet, and he heard Chiyu's prediction too—his expression turned grim.
"Uchiha Chiyu…"
"He said all that?"
Jinbe nodded.
Shanks looked even more worried. "Then that confirms it—this situation is really dangerous."
"Whitebeard, you must feel it too, right?"
"I couldn't change your mind—but what about me and Chiyu together?"
Jinbe added, "Old Man, you've seen what Chiyu can do. He knows more about this world than anyone. He's predicted the future more than once—his words can't be ignored."
But Whitebeard—Edward Newgate—just kept gulping down sake and laughed heartily.
"Gurararara!"
"You're all too cautious!"
"Shanks, you're one of the Four Emperors, but you're still young. You're worried about something that hasn't even happened. And even if it does—what of it?!"
"You think I'm scared of a fight?!"
Shanks went pale.
"As for Chiyu…"
Whitebeard slammed down his sake bowl.
"I've heard of him. They say no secret escapes him—but he's no god. How could he possibly see the future?"
Jinbe pressed, "Even if he's not a god, his logic is flawless. If Ace really is in danger, and we don't act—we'll lose him forever!"
Whitebeard finally paused.
He took a deep drink.
"…Jinbe, what do you think we should do?"
"Let that bastard Teach run free?"
Jinbe replied firmly. "Absolutely not. He murdered a crewmate—he deserves to die."
"But letting Ace go alone is too risky. We need backup—strong ones."
Marco stood up. "I'll go."
Whitebeard shook his head. "I still need you here."
Jinbe said, "Then I'll go."
"You can't either—Fish-Man Island needs you."
Vista stepped up. "Let me go, then. After what Shanks and Chiyu said… I'm really worried about Ace."
Everyone knew Vista and Ace were close.
Jozu added, "If that's not enough, I'll go too."
Whitebeard thought for a moment, then nodded.
"…Alright."
"Vista, Jozu—you two go."
"Bring Ace back. And bring that bastard Blackbeard back with him."
"Yes, Old Man!"
Shanks breathed a sigh of relief and raised his drink again.
"Uchiha Chiyu… he really is capable of changing everything."
Whitebeard watched the two men depart, his worries eased.
Then he looked at Shanks.
"I heard you've met Chiyu?"
Shanks gave a dry laugh. "We didn't just meet—we fought."
"Oh? How'd that go?"
Everyone leaned in.
Shanks laughed. "Let's just say… I didn't win, but he didn't lose either."
Whitebeard frowned. "What's that mean?"
Shanks explained what had happened—including how Buggy was killed right in front of him.
Whitebeard's expression hardened. "Buggy… wasn't he that guy you and Roger trained with?"
"He died right in front of you… don't you hate Chiyu?"
Shanks smiled faintly. "Chiyu's the type of guy who sees pirates like me as walking targets. I was always going to die in his eyes."
"So no, I don't hate him."
"Someday, he and I will have our final showdown."
"But what about you, Whitebeard? I heard you helped him once. He owes you, right?"
"Was this prediction him repaying that debt?"
Whitebeard nodded. "Yeah, I guess so."
"But that kind of guy… he won't let a favor get in the way of his principles. This warning? Just a down payment. When the time comes, he won't hesitate to kill me either."
"Gurararara!"
Jinbe quietly listened. He knew both men were telling the truth.
But deep down, he felt torn.
Whitebeard had saved him. But so had Chiyu.
If they ever fought, what was he supposed to do?
And Chiyu… somehow he'd pissed off not just Kaido and Big Mom—but Shanks too.
Surviving in the New World with enemies like that? Nearly impossible.
Unless… he joined Whitebeard's crew.
But that wasn't going to happen.
All Jinbe could do now was hope… that things wouldn't play out the way Chiyu predicted.
…
Meanwhile, far away in East Blue…
In Foosha Village, a rubber-powered boy was getting ready to set sail—slightly ahead of schedule.
But he couldn't wait any longer.
Makino, the bar owner, looked worried. "Luffy, you really want to head out now? Isn't it a bit early?"
"The sea is dangerous!"
The boy, Luffy, laughed.
"I'm not scared!"
"I'm gonna be King of the Pirates!"
"If I die on the way, then so be it—but I'm going!"
The villagers came to see him off. Makino just sighed.
"It's all that damn Shanks' fault. You're only doing this because of him…"
"Shanks, huh?"
"Maybe. But honestly, even without him, I think I still would've become a pirate. Hahaha!"
He pulled out the straw hat Shanks gave him, spun it in his hands, and placed it firmly on his head.
A memory of "that man" flashed through his mind…
Makino sighed again. "You're lucky, you know… If you had gone out two years earlier and ran into Uchiha Chiyu, you probably wouldn't be alive right now."
Luffy's eyes lit up. "Uchiha Chiyu?"
"Yeah, I've heard of him. The God of Slaughter of East Blue—wiped out all the pirates here."
"But I'm not scared. Hahaha!"
"In fact… I actually hope I run into him. I want to fight him for real—see who's stronger!"
"If he tries to stop me from becoming Pirate King, I'll punch him into the sky!"
Still laughing, Luffy hopped onto his tiny boat and sailed toward the endless horizon.
Just then, a massive Sea King surfaced, making everyone gasp.
But Luffy didn't flinch. He unleashed his Devil Fruit power with a grin.
"Gomu Gomu no…"
"Pistol!!!"
