Chapter 51 - Chapter 50: A Tempting Offer

After the arrival of Marcus Irving, Leah hoped for an ordinary evening yet the White Dawn Alpha arranged otherwise. The man moved towards her with a relaxed confidence that stemmed from having everything he wanted except for his new target Leah. The strong emotion in his intense blue eyes remained a mystery to her.

He spoke in a smooth tone with gentle quietness when he said "You don't belong here."

The expression on Leah's face tightened when she turned to look at him.

"What do you mean?"

Marcus let out a deep breath, as though he was picking his words carefully. "You don't deserve the doubt Jacob casts on you, and you were never intended to be just an Omega." His eyes met hers as he leaned forward a little. A better life than your current situation exists for you. A life where people respect you fully because of your genuine self.

Leah's heart was racing. She knew about Marcus's recent activities. The instability of her and Jacob's relationship allowed him to plant seeds of mistrust and exploit their bond's weaknesses. The way he spoke reflected a genuine conviction about his words.

Leah displayed firm resolve as she announced."I have a home here."

Marcus confirmed, "you do have a place to call home." Do you have an authentic place where people see you as you really are?

She struggled to formulate an answer because she was uncertain about her response. Marcus continued, exploiting his advantage. White Dawn would honor you with the rank of my Luna if you joined my pack. No uncertainty, no rumors of inadequacy. By your side I would keep you protected as you rise to become a respected Luna.

Leah gasped for air. Being a Luna with everlasting respect so great she wouldn't need to fight for it had previously been unattainable to her. From deep inside she felt an ache that perpetually linked her to Serafina along with Jacob and everything she built at Barduff Castle.

Marcus noticed her reluctance and reached for her hand. "Leah, give it some thought. This continuous battle does not match who you are."

"You deserve to be cherished."

Leah withdrew her hand gently, standing off the bench. "I appreciate what you're saying, Marcus. However, I can't make this decision hastily. He got up and nodded. "Obviously. Nothing less from a woman with your strength is what I would expect. His smile was endearing.Consider the opportunities I am extending to you. The truth will be there for you when you are prepared to accept it."

After Marcus walked away Leah experienced internal conflict. Was she struggling to win something that would forever remain out of her reach? She had worked tirelessly to maintain her position at Barduff Castle. She tried to dismiss her feelings but inside her gut grew increasingly doubtful.
