Chapter 34 - Chapter 33: The Rescue of Serafina

The rogue camp displayed complete destruction because debris covered the entire area. The open space showed the thick smell of blood and ash which the Night Wind warriors monitored while the losing outlaws screamed to no avail. His one priority became getting to Serafina. He continued toward his goal through broken enemies using his resolve despite being out of breath.

Running toward the shack holding Serafina he brought his rogue-bloodmarked sword. He got nearer and then caught the minimal noise of struggle that came from Serafina as she fought against the ropes tying her down. He charged with speed then broke the door frame open with a powerful kick that sent a deep growling sound from his chest.

Serafina remained inside the shack on the floor with her wrists damaged by the ropes. As soon as Serafina saw Samuel standing at the door he appeared like a guardian who filled the entrance with his presence her eyes sparkled with relief.

"Samuel!" Her voice expressed intense feelings as she shouted to him.

Samuel said, "You're safe now, Serafina," as he approached. He swiftly used his knife to slash the bonds, releasing her.

When the ropes were removed, she instantly collapsed into his arms, trembling with terror and fatigue. Samuel embraced her warmly, giving her a firm, consoling hug. "Can you walk?" he inquired, gently pushing aside her matted hair.

She gave a feeble nod, very exhausted. "I think so," she said, attempting to regain her strength.

Still, not wanting to take the chance of her falling, he gathered her into his arms. The rest of the soldiers made sure that no rogue remained standing as he carried her out. Outside, Jacob greeted them in his human form once more, his expression strained with emotion. Relief filled his face as soon as he saw his daughter secure in Samuel's care.

"Father!" Reaching for him, Serafina whispered.

Grasping her tightly, Jacob removed her from Samuel's embrace. He whispered, "You're home now," in an emotionally charged tone.

Samuel took a step back and saw the embrace between the father and daughter. He was aware that this was not the end, despite the relief that pervaded the air. Rogues captured Serafina as they worked for the larger scheme and Alpha Edmund Boris remained a threat at large.

Jacob grew stern while checking on Samuel as all the flock members arrived. "This is not the end of it. We need to establish measures to shield my daughter from ever being targeted by rogues.

Samuel tightened his grip on his hands before he nodded. "Then we prepare for war."
