The hallway outside Vyne's room was quiet. She hesitated before knocking twice, waiting for that lazy, amused voice to call out. Nothing. She frowned and tried again. Still silence.
She turned the handle gently. The room was dark, the faint glow of computer monitors the only light. The soft hum of machines filled the air, lines of code streaming across one of the screens.
