"I—I can't just leave Vyne alone—" Blazar's voice cracked as she pulled against Vesper's iron grip.
Vesper stopped mid-stride, his tall frame turning with deadly grace. Those unnervingly calm crimson eyes fixed on her friend like a predator sizing up prey. "Vyne." His voice cut through the dining hall chatter. "Do you mind?"
Vyne, chicken leg halfway to his mouth, froze. Grease dripped down his chin as he blinked in confusion. "Huh? Oh." He waved his free hand dismissively, completely oblivious to the tension crackling around them. "Nope. It's cool. Go get wined and dined by your scary vampire boyfriend."
Blazar's eye twitched violently. Traitor.
The whispers erupted like wildfire before they even reached the stairs leading to the upper level. Hundreds of eyes followed their every step, phones appearing like magic to capture the moment.
"Since when does Vesper drag people to his table?"
"What did he even see in Orion?"
