Chapter 29 - Minato’s Burden… and a Village That Won’t Forgive

Minato used Flying Thunder God and flew back to the living room of his house.

"Sir! You are here!"

Minato was delighted and was also very happy to see Kai.

"Hey, Yondaime its that your here."

"Sir, are you alone? Where are the First and Second Hokage?"

"They didn't come."

"Oh. Kushina, what's wrong with you? How is your body?" Minato quickly came to Kushina's side and asked hurriedly with concern.

"I'm fine. Come and eat something. You've been up all night too."

"Ohh, thank you so much!"

The two then looked at each other affectionately, and a sour smell filled the air. Fortunately, it was not enough to cover the aroma of the bone soup.

Kai completely ignored it.

He doesn't want to talk about any romance right now.

He just wants to eat! He just wants to complete the main task as soon as possible!

Kushina's cooking skills are indeed good.

The ramen is average, but the bone broth is really rich and full of flavor.

Kai ate two servings and felt warm in his stomach, feeling very satisfied.

Kushina only ate one portion and still looked a little weak.

But Minato directly shoved off three servings, he was really good at eating.

Firstly because of the series of battles last night and being busy all night, he was indeed exhausted and hungry.

Secondly, he was so happy and excited, because he was a now father, and his wife and children were safe and sound!

Minato finished the last bite of soup, put down the bowl, and smiled at Kai.

"Sir, I hope you like the food."

"It's alright, Kushina's cooking skills are truly excellent! Thank you for the hospitality."

"Thank you. I love all the dishes Kushina cooks! Hehehe"

After eating and drinking, Minato then talked about business.

"So why are you here this time, sir?"

"Oh? Ahh wait let me finish this first." Kai then eats big mouthfuls of it and finishes it with a big gulp of the soup.

Minato was even more delighted. Although there were mountains of government affairs in the village, in Minato's view, nothing was more important than talking to Kai.

If, as the First and Second Hokage said, this person could be compared to the [Six Paths Sage]…

Then any information he gave was of immeasurable benefit to Konohagakure.

His teacher, Jiraiya, has been chasing a vague prophecy from the Great Toad Sage for more than ten years, and he has gained very little of it.

But now this mysterious figure is telling directly what will happen in the future and what to do!

The key is that this person also has the grace of saving him and Kushina. This grace is so great that Minato will try his best to repay him without harming his family and the village's interests.

A meal and a chat?

He can chat every day if asked!

"Yondaime, judging from your condition, the village leaders have already started to cause trouble for you, right?"

Minato was startled for a moment, then sighed softly, feeling as if a heavy burden had been lifted from him.

"Have you really seen through it, sir?"

The sharpest knife often comes not from the enemy, but from those closest to you. Only they know your weaknesses best. After inserting the knife, they still have to leave a relationship. The knife is not deep enough to kill you, but it is deep enough to make you hurt.

"What!"

Kushina immediately became furious: "Those old fag and hag! Are they starting to give you trouble again?"

Since Minato became Hokage, she has seen how much exclusion and restriction he has suffered and how much hardship he has endured. To think that immediately after the Tailed Beast Rebellion, they were already targeting Minato?

This is too shameless!

If it weren't for Naruto, she would have rushed to the Hokage Building by now.

Minato looked a little helpless.

"The village suffered a huge loss this time. Someone must be held responsible."

"But why!"

Kushina roared: "You sealed the Nine-Tails for the village! It was their poor protection that led to the attack! In the end, it was thanks to you and the previous Hokage that we saved the village and re-sealed the Nine-Tails. Why are they still blaming you?"

She yelled, and her emotions became more and more intense.

"Kushina, don't be angry, your body hasn't recovered yet!"

Minato quickly tried to comfort her.

"Minato, what do they want? They don't want to force you out of the position of Hokage, do they?"

"The chances of that are very low. And I will not resign or abdicate."

Minato still stated firmly.

"But Lord Danzo and the two advisors are probably using this as an excuse to pin the blame on me and seize some of the Hokage's power."

Minato is not a fool, he easily saw through their intentions.

It is unrealistic to remove him, a Hokage who ascended through absolute military achievements, just because of some tailed beast rebellion. They clearly aim to damage his reputation and consolidate more power for themselves.

It's a very bold and audacious move.

Kushina was still raging, and her hair was about to stand up.

"What? How can they be so shameless? They played no role at all during the riot last night. Now they are the first to jump out and target you. How despicable! How despicable!"

Minato looked a little helpless.

"It's not good indeed, but that's just the way they are. I can't just turn against them, can I?"

Danzo and the others are old foxes, having served under three Hokage, and are disciples of the Second Hokage. Given Minato's youth and seniority, directly confronting them would be incredibly difficult. Such a move would not only embarrass the Third Hokage, Sarutobi, but could also lead to the Daimyo Kingdom cutting off economic aid, blaming Minato for internal strife.

"Minato, you can't compromise, you can't admit defeat!"

Kushina grabbed the him of his clothes and shook him gently.

If she were Hokage, she would have already fought those old men. Saying one more word would be a loss!

And she didn't want Minato to become a sinner in Konoha, criticized by the villagers he had saved.

At this moment, Kai spoke.

"He can choose not to compromise. But for you and the child, he will choose to compromise."

Kushina immediately turned to him.

"Sir, what do you mean?"

"A tragic [Tailed Beast Riot] will result in casualties and losses, which will inevitably give rise to hatred."

Kai explained calmly.

"If there is a clear enemy, then this hatred can naturally be directed against the enemy in a unified way."

"Unfortunately, this time the enemy is too mysterious and almost no one has seen or knows it."

"So, after the loss of their beloved ones last night. It will be difficult for the Villager's to focus their hatred on a vague enemy; they will only focus on the more specific Kyuubi, which is the Kyuubi Jinchūriki!"

"If Minato doesn't take the initiative to bear this guilt and attract this hatred—"

"Then the villagers of Konoha will focus their hatred on you, Kushina, of course, the Uchiha clan, who are suspected of controlling the Nine-Tails, will also be indirectly affected."

"In this way, you and Naruto will live in an environment full of malice and hostility for the next few years or even decades."

"This is what Minato doesn't want to see, and this is the real reason why he wants to take the blame."

"Minato, am I right?"

Minato was startled, then laughed:

"Sir, you have a keen eye. I can't hide it from you!"

Kushina stood there in a daze, then her eyes quickly turned red and tears welled up in her eyes.

She was still angry about the village's unfair blaming and targeting.

But Minato had already thought about the future and was even willing to take all the blame for her and Naruto.

But this guy still looks happy!

Hidden beneath the gentleness and kindness is love and responsibility.

"Minato, you can't..."

"Kushina, for you and Naruto's sake, I must bear this..."

The two looked at each other, and the air, which had just been filled with a sour smell, became even more sour.
