Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Shared Moments

The knock on the door wasn't just one this time—it was two, staggered, like an awkward rhythm section. David opened it to find both Reika and Seika standing there with matching smiles and matching grocery bags.

"Surprise," Reika said, holding up a pack of beef like it was a bouquet.

"I brought miso," Seika added quietly, cheeks already slightly red. "I thought we could, you know… cook?"

David blinked, then laughed. "Sure, come in. I was just about to burn dinner anyway."

Reika shoved past him first, kicking off her shoes and heading straight for the kitchen. Seika followed, more polite, glancing at David like she was trying not to trip over her own heartbeat.

They started cooking almost immediately. Reika took control of the stove like she owned it. David peeled carrots. Seika stirred miso soup and accidentally spilled it, flinching like she expected someone to yell.

"No worries," David said quickly, grabbing a towel.

"Thanks," Seika whispered.

Reika glanced over her shoulder. "Careful, or he'll think you're cute."

"Too late," David muttered without thinking.

Reika snorted. Seika blinked and went back to stirring.

Dinner turned into a mess—but the kind of mess that made the room feel alive. David's dorm never had so much noise. Plates clanked. Laughter bounced off the walls. Reika told dumb stories. Seika giggled at them in between spoonfuls.

After eating, they moved to the couch.

They played games. Seika somehow won the first round and looked guilty about it. Reika lost and blamed the controller. David didn't care who won—he just liked having them both here.

But as the night wore on, things shifted.

Reika ended up leaning against him, her legs over his lap. Seika hesitated, then nestled on his other side, their shoulders brushing.

He was in the middle of a sister sandwich, and for the first time in his life, he was too stunned to joke.

Reika tilted her head toward Seika. "We've both… been thinking."

Seika nodded, slow but firm.

David blinked. "Thinking?"

Reika sat up a little. "About us. About you."

Seika added, voice small, "And each other."

David opened his mouth but couldn't find words.

Reika smirked. "That's a first."

There wasn't much talking after that.

Only soft touches, shy glances, and then bold ones. Reika moved first, pulling him close with that usual confidence. Seika followed, hesitant, but wanting.

Their kisses tasted different. Reika's fiery, teasing. Seika's soft, unsure.

Their hands wandered.

The world blurred.

Clothes slipped away like water.

Heat rose, not just from their skin, but from something deeper—years of built-up tension, connection, unspoken feelings.

David didn't know if it was right.

But it felt real.

The bed creaked under shifting weight, laughter fading into gasps.

The three of them moved together like a rhythm they didn't know they knew. No jealousy. No awkwardness. Just warmth, closeness, the kind of intimacy you don't plan for—it just happens.

"David…" Seika whispered. Her fingers squeezed his.

Reika groaned, breath heavy. "You better not hold back."

He didn't.

David saw the glowing system screen in the corner of his vision. He blinked, but didn't move.

Only he and Airi could see it.

Reika and Seika… they didn't know.

And maybe that was better.

Later, all three of them lay tangled in his small bed, limbs draped lazily, the scent of sweat and leftover miso still lingering.

Reika stretched with a tired sigh. "That was... not how I expected tonight to go."

Seika flushed, hiding her face in David's shoulder. "Me neither…"

David chuckled, arms wrapped around both of them. "You two are dangerous."

Reika grinned. "Yeah. And you love it."

They rested like that for a while.

Eventually, Reika sat up, yawning. "We should get back. Before Airi starts poking around."

Seika nodded, slowly rising and fixing her shirt.

David walked them to the door.

No awkward goodbyes. No weird tension.

Just warmth. And a look in their eyes that said this wasn't the end of anything.

"Get some sleep," Seika whispered.

"Next time, you're cooking," Reika added.

They left together.

David shut the door, leaned against it, and let out a long breath.

His body was sore.

His heart was full.

And his system… was buzzing.

System Ping: "Would you like to enter Slot C now?"

David stared at the option.

Not yet.

There was still more left here.
