The days passed, and Sarah grew more comfortable with Marcus's presence in their lives. He was a valuable ally, and his knowledge of the supernatural was unparalleled. Emily seemed to thrive under his guidance, learning new spells and rituals with ease.
But despite the sense of security that Marcus brought, Sarah couldn't shake off the feeling that they were being watched. She would catch glimpses of something out of the corner of her eye, a shadowy figure that seemed to vanish into thin air.
One night, as she was putting Emily to bed, she saw it again. A dark shape looming in the doorway, its presence seeming to fill the room with an unspeakable malevolence.
Sarah's heart racing, she slammed the door shut and leaned against it, her eyes scanning the room for any sign of Marcus. But he was nowhere to be found.
Suddenly, Emily sat up in bed, her eyes black as coal. "Mommy," she whispered, her voice low and menacing. "It's coming for us."
Sarah's blood ran cold. The entity was back, and it was more powerful than ever. She knew that she had to protect Emily, no matter what.
With a surge of adrenaline, she grabbed Emily and held her close, whispering a protection spell that Marcus had taught her. The words seemed to hold back the darkness, but only just.
As she looked around the room, she saw Marcus standing in the corner, his eyes glowing with an otherworldly light. "I've got this, Sarah," he said, his voice low and reassuring. "I'll keep you and Emily safe."
But as Sarah looked into his eyes, she saw something that made her question everything. A glimmer of darkness, a hint of malevolence that seemed to lurk beneath the surface.
Was Marcus truly their ally, or was he something more sinister? Sarah didn't know, but she knew one thing for sure: she would do whatever it took to protect her daughter, even if it meant facing the darkness head-on.
