Chapter 61 - Meant To Be

"Vicky, what the hell are you waiting for? Go after her!" Dianne shouted, panic in her voice.

"Don't let her go!" Jimmy echoed.

"Yeah, man—move!" Jake pushed him forward.

Without another word, Vicky took off running. Jake followed close behind.

At the airport, Mirabel stood at the boarding gate, her suitcase by her side, eyes distant. Her heart pounded in her chest like a warning bell.

"Mirabel, please… you don't have to do this," Annabelle said, standing beside her. "Vicky didn't do anything wrong. It's been cleared up. Don't punish yourself like this."

Mirabel shook her head slowly. "I've made my decision, Belle. I need to leave. For me."

"But you love him. And he clearly loves you. If he didn't, he would've hidden the truth. He would've moved on—but he didn't."

"I can't turn back now. It's too late…" Mirabel whispered, blinking back tears.

Then she heard it.

"Mirabel!"

She froze.

That voice—raw, desperate—cut through the noise of the terminal. She turned, slowly. There he was. Vicky. Breathless, broken, eyes red with emotion.

"Please wait!" he gasped, pushing his way through the crowd. Jake was right behind him.

Mirabel turned back quickly, but Annabelle grabbed her arm gently.

"Just hear him out," she urged softly.

"Belle, don't—"

"Please," Annabelle said again, her eyes pleading.

Vicky reached her. "I love you!" he cried, his voice cracking. "I love you more than I've ever loved anyone in my life. I messed up—bad. But I'll never stop fighting for you."

People around them slowed down, some watching, others whispering, moved by the emotion unfolding before them.

Vicky dropped to his knees, right in front of her. He reached for her hand.

"You're my everything, Mirabel. I know the truth is out, and yes—I didn't cheat on you. But I still failed you. I should've never put you in that situation. I was weak. And I am so, so sorry."

Mirabel stood frozen, eyes full of tears, lips trembling.

"Say something, please," Vicky whispered. "I can't lose you. If you leave… I swear, Mirabel, I won't survive it. You're my life."

The terminal held its breath, waiting—just like him.

Mirabel stepped forward, her hands gently covering Vicky's mouth. She held his face, eyes locked with his.

"Don't ever say that again, Vicky," she whispered, voice trembling.

She dropped to her knees beside him. Two broken hearts, now whole—reconnecting in front of a stunned and emotional crowd.

"I love you, Vicky… with everything I am. Leaving you would've destroyed me," she breathed, then leaned in and kissed him—deep, honest, healing.

The terminal erupted in applause. Strangers clapped, some with tears in their eyes.

"Oh my God… I never thought I'd see a love story this real at an airport," a woman said, dabbing her cheeks.

Still holding her close, Vicky looked into her eyes.

"Mirabel… will you marry me?"

Her smile widened through her tears. "Of course I will… nothing's standing in our way anymore."

The crowd roared with joy.

Moved by the moment, Jake turned to Annabelle, gently took her hand, and dropped to one knee. Annabelle's face shifted from delight to stunned disbelief.

"Jake… what are you doing?" she asked, eyes wide.

"I wasn't going to do this now—I had a plan for next week. But this moment… it's perfect. I can't let it slip away."

"Jake—"

He raised a hand with a smile. "Don't say anything yet. Just answer one thing—Annabelle, will you marry me?"

Annabelle broke into a beaming smile, tears welling in her eyes. "Yes… yes, I will!" she exclaimed. She pulled him to his feet and into a tight embrace.

Two couples. Two proposals.

One airport, now wrapped in the magic of love and second chances—witness to a love story most people only dream about.
