"Emerald, maybe you should wait until…"
"No. I need to talk to Adrien. I need to get him back."
She walked toward where Adrien and Seraphina were sitting, but Lucien caught her arm before she could get far.
"Stop," he said firmly. "You're not thinking clearly right now."
"Let me go, Lucien."
"And say what, Emerald? Say what exactly?" His voice was low but intense. "That you're seeing him with Seraphina, and it's making you feel jealous? That you suddenly can't stand watching them together when just yesterday you could barely look at him without contempt?"
"That's not…"
"It is exactly that," Lucien interrupted. "Something is wrong with you. This isn't how you were acting before. Whatever's happening to you, this isn't you. You need to calm down and think about what you're doing first."
Emerald wanted to fight him, to push past and get to Adrien, but something in Lucien's eyes made her pause.
