Crystal Foster's health was improving day by day, and everyone finally felt a sense of relief. After much persuasion, they managed to get Martin Riley back to the office to handle work. Mrs. Hart visited daily; initially, she was in tears every time she came, but after several talks with Matthew Hart, she finally started to show some smiles.
"I spoke with the doctor. In two weeks, you'll be discharged, and then you can stay with me. You've been through so much, and I need to take good care of you," Mrs. Hart insisted.
Crystal's cheeks were rosier than before. She appreciated Mrs. Hart's kindness, but she knew Martin wouldn't agree to it.
"Godmother, we have a housekeeper at home, and Martin won't want to leave," Crystal replied.
"Having a housekeeper isn't enough," Mrs. Hart protested. "There's Otto at home too. A child and a patient—how can one person manage all that? If you don't want to come over, I'll just visit you every day. You know I can't stop worrying about you."
