After a tender moment, Crystal Foster lay exhausted in Martin Riley's arms. Martin's breathing echoed above her, and Crystal felt her eyelids growing heavy.
"Martin, stop thinking about those things," she murmured.
Martin gently patted Crystal's back. "I know, it's just..."
"You feel uneasy, right?" Crystal sat up and kissed Martin softly on the lips. "If it makes you uncomfortable, don't dwell on it. It's all in the past. They made mistakes and pushed you out of the Riley Family. Whatever happens to them now has nothing to do with you. You don't need to feel guilty."
Martin understood all of this, but knowing and feeling are two different things.
"Alright, I won't think about it anymore," Crystal said, kissing him again. "Let's sleep. I'm so tired."
Martin smiled and held her closer. "Sleep well."
When Crystal woke up, it was already broad daylight. Martin had gone to work, and Otto climbed onto the bed, coming up to her. "Mommy, wake up!"
