Chapter 12 - The boss has another woman

As soon as Martin Riley arrived at the office, Henry noticed a different scent on him than usual. Martin also seemed more refreshed than he typically did.

"Sir, did you sleep well last night?" Henry asked.

"Yes," Martin nodded. "I got a new aromatherapy diffuser at home and finally had a good night's sleep. Go ahead and let everyone know about the morning meeting."

In the conference room, Martin sat at the head of the table, listening to everyone's reports. As he adjusted his suit jacket, which was caught on the chair's armrest, something fell out of his pocket. He looked down to see a sachet he'd never seen before.

He frowned immediately. Where did this sachet come from?

A colleague glanced over and saw Martin pick up the small sachet, which was embroidered with elegant bamboo leaves. It looked stylish enough that even a man could carry it without it seeming out of place.

Henry also noticed it and felt a surge of curiosity. Why would Martin have such a sachet with him?

Though puzzled, Martin put the sachet back into his pocket, scanning the room to gauge everyone's reactions. A slight cough from him quickly quelled their curiosity.

"Let's continue," he said.

Once the meeting finally ended, and Martin left the room, the rest of the team immediately started gossiping, pulling Henry into their circle.

"Henry, do you know where our boss got that sachet from?" one asked.

"Yeah, why would he suddenly have a sachet? Are we getting a new boss lady?" another chimed in.

"Really? Are we getting a new boss lady?"

As soon as those words were spoken, Henry felt like he was surrounded by a swarm of mosquitoes, buzzing incessantly and giving him a headache.

"Alright, alright, stop focusing on gossip about the boss and start concentrating on your work. If the boss finds out, you won't be in for a treat," he warned.

The girls' gossiping skills were truly unmatched, and Henry could only shake his head in resignation. "Okay, back to work, everyone. No more idle chatter in the office."

After Henry's warning, the chatter quieted down, but the whispers continued behind closed doors.

When Hazel Morgan arrived at the office, she immediately heard the rumors. The mention of a "sachet" caught her attention.

"Ms. Hazel, you spend a lot of time with the boss. Do you know where that sachet came from?" a colleague asked.

Hazel smiled softly, a hint of shyness on her face. "It must be from someone very important to him. Otherwise, he wouldn't keep it with him.""That makes sense. Someone like the boss wouldn't carry a sachet unless it was from someone special," the colleague said with a knowing smile before walking away.

Hazel quickly pulled out her phone and ordered a similar sachet, just as described by her colleague.

The next day, she slipped the sachet into her bag and headed to work. Casually, she opened her bag, making sure the manager caught a glimpse of the sachet inside.

The manager's eyes widened in surprise, as if he had just uncovered a huge secret.

Hazel smiled gently, her lips curving softly, but she said nothing more.

As soon as Hazel left, the manager eagerly pulled a colleague aside to share the gossip.

"I just saw a sachet in Ms. Hazel's bag, and it looks just like the boss's. Do you think Ms. Hazel gave it to him?"

"Really?" The colleague's eyes widened in shock. Could it be that their new boss's special someone was Hazel Morgan?

"Why would I lie to you? I saw it clearly just now. Honestly, I think they make a great couple—he's talented, she's beautiful. It's like they were made for each other," someone said.

As Henry walked by the door, he asked curiously, "Who's made for each other?"

The manager quickly grabbed Henry's arm and pulled him in. "We're talking about Ms. Hazel and the boss. That sachet the boss has? It was a gift from Ms. Hazel.""Ms. Hazel?" Henry frowned. "How do you know? Did Ms. Hazel say that herself?"

"No, but I just saw a sachet in Ms. Hazel's bag that looks exactly like the boss's. I mean, who carries a sachet these days unless it means something special?"

Henry thought that made sense and couldn't stop thinking about it on his way to the office.

When he saw Martin Riley, he blurted out, "Sir, is that sachet from Ms. Hazel?"

"Hmm?" Martin looked up at him, a hint of confusion in his eyes. "Who's Ms. Hazel?"

"The sachet you're wearing—isn't it from Ms. Hazel? She has one just like it."

"This is from Ms. Hazel?" Martin was surprised. The sachet had appeared out of nowhere, and he had no idea where it came from, but wearing it made him feel good.

Martin took out his phone and texted Hazel Morgan, "Just found out the sachet is from you. Thanks."

When Hazel received the text, she didn't feel happy. Instead, she felt a sense of caution. Even Martin didn't know where the sachet came from.

Her intuition made her wary, but she decided to go along with it. "I'm glad you like it."

Henry watched as Martin Riley put down his phone. "Sir, there's a gala tonight. You'll need a date."Martin immediately thought of Sylvia Byrne. In the past, he would never have considered taking her to any public event. But after spending more time with her, he realized Sylvia had changed a lot.

"Bring Mrs. Riley. Get her a dress and a stylist."

Henry pressed his lips together, trying to understand Martin's intentions.

Meanwhile, Crystal Foster received a call just as the stylist arrived with the dresses.

"Mrs. Riley, these are the latest dresses from our store."

Seeing the array of dresses before her, Crystal set aside her tablet, realizing she couldn't refuse.

"I trust your judgment. Go with your ideas."

Crystal smiled, her eyes sparkling like stars. Her smile was so radiant that it made everything else fade away, even without makeup, she was stunning enough to impress the stylist.

"Your skin is so fair, and this red dress will complement it perfectly. It will ensure you stand out at tonight's event."

The red dress he held was a backless mermaid gown, which required a great figure.

Crystal changed into the dress, and the red fabric made her skin look even more like snow. Her face, untouched by makeup, had a natural, healthy glow. Her slightly curled long hair fell casually over her back, revealing glimpses of her snowy skin as she moved. Her curvy figure was accentuated by the red gown, and every smile and gesture exuded charm.

"Perfect! Mrs. Riley, this dress is practically made for you. I can't wait to create a flawless makeup look for you. You'll definitely turn heads tonight."
