Chapter 5 - Volume 2: Chapter 2, A Reunion Between Friends

Four and a half years ago, Kiliano, Nyleah, Nazeem and Lura were separated by Solomon in order to optimize their time training. Kiliano went north with the Fire God, Nyleah went east with a master bowman, Nazeem went west with an Emperor tier mage, and Lura stayed in Karth. One day, after Lura woke up, master Gannon was waiting for her in the inn's lobby. Lura walked over, "Hello master. May I ask why you're here instead of the castle?" Gannon turned to face Lura and smiled, "Yes, well I guess I have some good news for you." He handed her a piece of paper tha read,

Dear Ms. Lura, I apologise for being unable to tell you this in person, but I have already made my way to The Thirteen Kingdoms. I have made you this letter to inform you that your friends will be arriving back in Karth in about a week. I must ask all of you to head over to Sumerst and join our allegiance. A war has started between the North and South, and we need your help. Take care. Solomon.

Lura's eyes lit up, which made Gannon smile. "Oh my god! Finallyyyy!" She was jumping up and down with excitement. "Master, aren't you excited!?" Gannon giggled, "Well of course. I'm looking forward to seeing how much they've grown in the past few years." Lura stopped jumping and walked over to Gannon, "Master… would it be okay if we took a few days off? Just until my friends make it back." Gannon's face went stern, "No, absolutely not. It is a crucial time for you, and we cannot afford any slacking." Lura began slouching, "Aw, alright then." The two of them started heading over to Solomon's castle.

Farther West, a letter was being delivered to a small shack in the middle of a forest. The forest itself was dense in some places, but it was also scattered with dozens of giant craters, nearly the same size as a house. A postman knocked on the shack's door, put a letter next to the door and walked off. After a few moments, the door opened. Nazeem was standing in the doorway, looking around. He glanced to the ground and found the letter. Nazeem picked it up and started opening it as he walked back inside. Once he took out the letter his eyes widened. "Master!" Suddenly, a short man with a long beard peeked out from another room, "What is it, Nazeem?" Nazeem held out the piece of paper, "It's a letter from master Solomon."

In an Eastern village of Vraldeen, Nyleah and a master bowman were walking down a plaza, on their way to the inn they were staying at. The master bowman reached in his pocket and pulled something out of it, a letter. He tapped Nyleah on the shoulders and said, "Oh hey, Nyleah. I received this letter from master Solomon." He gave her the letter and she read it. Once she did, her eyes widened.

And then, in the Northernmost region of Vraldeen, Kiliano and his master, Vencer were walking down a giant rocky cliff. "Hey Kiliano…" Vencer said, "...I believe there is going to be a turning point soon. Don't you think?" Kiliano turned to face Vencer. His face had grown more mature, and he carried a faint aura around his entire body, "Well… I'm not sure. But I can say this… When I meet up with my friends again, I'm gonna blow them away!" He said with a smile. Vencer nodded with a grin, and the two of them continued their journey down the rocky mountain.

Back at Karth, Lura continued training with master Gannon. Her skills had improved considerably. By the end of the day, both of them were nearly out of breath. Gannon walked over to Lura and said, "I'm impressed. You've grown a lot these past few years…" He held out his hand, "...I name you, Lura Zuri'el… an Overlord tier Masterswordsman." Lura's eyes widened, as her surroundings seemed to have blurred out. "W-wait what… what are you saying?" Gannon walks closer to her, "You are now Overlord tier." Lura began crying, "Oh my god. I did ittt!" She was hopping up and down. Gannon watched while smiling as he thought, "Heheh, I wonder how much stronger Kiliano has gotten. He always had a lot more talent than Lura, and he's been training with a God. But still, I'm truly proud of you… Lura." Gannon headed back inside the castle, and Lura made her way to the inn. Once she made it back home, Lura sat down on her bed, doing absolutely nothing but think. "I wonder what everyone's up to. I wonder if Kil's stronger than me still. I wonder if Nyleah's fixed her crappy diet… I wonder if Nazeem is doing alright without all of us. I doubt his idiotic ass could function without one of us there, heheh." Lura laid down in bed, and fell asleep.

One week passed by, and Lura was called to master Solomon's castle after a day of training. She made her way there, opened the main doors and walked into the throne room after master Gannon opened its doors for her. She was expecting all her friends to be there, but instead it was just Nazeem. Lura's expression turned from excitement to disappointment, "Ah, so you're the only one here yet." Nazeem heard this and jerked around to meet her gaze, "Lura! H-heyyy, how's it going?" He had a nervous tone and his face was a pit pale. The two of them held eye-contact for a few seconds before Nazeem's body began to shake in fear, "Uhh, Lura? You don't seem very happy to see me… heh…heh." Lura changed her expression to a more happy one and walked over to Nazeem, "It's fine, I was just expecting all of you." She spread her arms out and gave Nazeem a big hug. Nazeem giggled nervously, which triggered Lura to tighten her hold on Nazeem. "Gah! Lura you're crushing meee!" Lura made a mischievous grin and continued tightening her grip, "Aw, it's okay Nazeem. I've just missed you sooo much!" Crack! Nazeem's back made a loud snapping noise which made Lura let go of him. Nazeem fell to the ground in pain. Master Gannon walked over to the two of them and said, "I believe Nyleah has just arrived at the front gates, and should be here any second." Lura made a large smile. Nazeem crawled on the ground, trying to find some leverage to help him up. Master Gannon held out his hand and lifted Nazeem off the ground. "Oh, that reminds me Nazeem…" Lura tapped him on the shoulder, "...What did you spend your time doing? You better not have been goofing around like a jackass!" Nazeem grinned and held out a fist, "I've accomplished something truly great! Behold-" Before Nazeem could finish his sentence a voice came echoing from beside the two of them, "Well, hello you two..." They both turned their heads to find a girl with ginger hair and deep hazel eyes staring back at them with a smile. She had long beautiful hair and an angelic face, "...I've missed y'all." It was Nyleah. She had matured much more than either of them could've ever imagined. Her posture and demeanor made her seem much older than a mere 14 year old. "Nyleah!" Luira said, as she ran over and jumped on her. Nazeem smiled at the two of them on the ground, "It's nice to see you again Nyleah. How've you been?" Nyleah, still on the ground, looked back at Nazeem, "I'm doing pretty well. My training definitely paid off. How about you?" Nazeem made another grin and closed his eyes, "Well… as I was saying before you came in… I've accomplished something truly magnificent…!" He held out his hand and made a fist, "...Behold my masterpiece…!" Nyleah and Lura got off the ground and began staring at him. "...I will now show you, a NEW type of magic! Now, with this offering, allow me to bring forth my true power and manifest it! Lightning magic!" His fist began emanating a blue aura, and small bolts of lightning were manifesting around it. The entire room was covered in a blue light, as his aura began to release small amounts of mana waves. Master Gannon's eyes widened in marvel, "Nazeem! You must be careful with magic such as this, if you're not you could end up destroying the entire castle!" Nazeem glanced over at Gannon and nodded. He relaxed his hand, and all the mana which was enveloping the room disappeared in an instant. "Well, there ya have it! That's the product of my hard work." Everyone in the room was staring at Nazeem in amazement.

Gannon broke the silence, "Nazeem… I'm impressed. To invent new magic is one of the greatest feats a mage can achieve…" He walked over to Nazeem and patted him on the back, "...You've grown strong." He turned over to Nyleah and began analyzing her. His eyes began to glow a faint white color. An aura was starting to emanate around his eyes, "Hmm… Nyleah, you've changed. I can tell by the switch in your aura. It's much more composed." He gave her a warm smile. "Ahemm…!" Lura was visibly agitated, "...Ahemmm!" Gannon turned to face her, "Ahh and you, Lura. You've become quite the capable swordswoman. I may have only recently bestowed you the title of Overlord, but I bet you're probably capable of taking on some Sword Emperors." Lura was now blushing. Nazeem smirked, "Well well well… looks like you aren't totally hopeless haha!" Lura glanced sharply at Nazeem and popped up behind him, smacking him on the back of the head which sent him flying into the wall on the opposite side of the room. Nyleah chuckled and walked over to Gannon, "Master Gannon, if you don't mind me asking… where is uh…" She was blushing slightly, "...Where's Kiliano!" Gannons eyes closed, and he frowned, "That's right. Unfortunately Master Solomon sent me a message yesterday informing me of his status." Everyone looked over at Gannon as he continued talking, "Kiliano's location is so far north I doubt he's even received the letter Master Solomon sent all of us. And he won't be arriving for another few months or so." Everyone's eyes widened. Nyleah began to tear up, Lura clinched her teeth, and Nazeem slouched over in defeat. Gannon sighed and turned around, "Let's just get straight to the point! The four of us are gonna make our way to Sumerst and meet up with Master Solomon! Once there, the three of you are going to officially become officers of the Northern Allegiance." Lura scoffed, "You do know we're still young teenagers right!? Isn't it a bit too soon to be sending kids into war? Honestly, what is he thinking?" Gannon smiled at her, "Well isn't it obvious? The three of you are all prodigies. And because of your unprecedented talent, you've all become incredible warriors. Therefore, you are all important assets to Master Solomon."

The four of them began collecting their things and headed out for Sumerst. Gannon told them that the journey would take at least a month since Sumerst is the farthest Northern nation from Vraldeen. The three tennagers' moods were sour. Since Kiliano wasn't accompanying them, they all felt as if some part of the group was missing. A part which was necessary for all of them to feel complete.
