Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Showing Off Love

"Are you going to hit me?"

Xie Huaichu: "..."

Was he really that scary?

Xie Huaichu awkwardly withdrew his hand and shifted his gaze elsewhere. "No."

"Then what were you trying to do just now?" Jiang Li was particularly curious about his actions.

"Chasing away mosquitoes." After a moment of silence, Xie Huaichu gave a rather ridiculous answer.

"..."

Jiang Li looked around as if she was genuinely trying to spot mosquitoes.

Then, she raised her eyes to glare at Xie Huaichu, exposing his lie.

"It's almost winter, yet mosquitoes are still hopping around outside. How bold of them."

Xie Huaichu didn't know how to respond and looked slightly awkward.

"Little brat, weren't you supposed to check on Xiaofang's health?"

"What are you standing there for? Hurry up and come over."

The two elderly people had been watching the interaction between Xie Huaichu and Jiang Li closely.

When they saw Jiang Li successfully kill the conversation, Lin Guifang was drunk with amusement.

Little Li usually seemed pretty clever, but how could her brain not be working at this moment?

Xie Zhenuo was even more disappointed, quickly speaking up to give Xie Huaichu a way out.

After the check-up, Lin Guifang's condition had improved significantly.

The two elders chatted for a bit more, and then Xie Zhenuo was escorted back home by the Xie family bodyguards.

One week later, Lin Guifang was discharged from the hospital.

On the same day, Fang Ruan also came to pick her up.

She had brought many supplements and gifts for Lin Guifang.

That evening, shortly after Jiang Li left, Fang Ruan called to check on the situation.

Jiang Li lied to her at the time, saying that she had to rush back because of a client at her studio.

Later, when Lin Guifang was out of danger, Jiang Li told Fang Ruan the truth.

Fang Ruan immediately came to the hospital to visit Lin Guifang and gave Jiang Li a thorough scolding, calling her disloyal.

She hadn't even thought of her when facing difficulties.

Jiang Li spent quite some time soothing her, finally making her smile.

"Softie, why do you always waste money like this?"

"Grandma doesn't lack anything. Just having you here makes her so happy."

Fang Ruan and Jiang Li supported the elderly woman into the car.

The car was from the Fang family, and the driver was also Fang Ruan's chauffeur.

"Grandma, please don't be so polite with me."

"Remember to take the supplements every day, and take good care of yourself, so that Li Li won't have to worry."

Lin Guifang affectionately held Fang Ruan's hand and patted it gently, her face filled with tenderness.

"Alright, Grandma will listen to Softie."

"Li Li is really lucky to have a sister like you."

Time passed by, and soon another week had gone by.

Today was Sunday.

Jiang Li hadn't forgotten the tutoring session she had promised to give Lu Ziyang.

She changed into an elegant and gentle light beige qipao.

Driving her own mini jeep, she set off for the Xie family's old house.

As soon as she reached the intersection, she saw Lu Ziyang standing at the door.

And standing next to him was Xie Huaichu.

"Sister, you finally came." As Jiang Li got out of the car, Lu Ziyang stepped forward to greet her.

His voice was gentle as he spoke, and he politely took her coat from her hands. "I've been waiting so long, the flowers are almost wilting."

Lu Ziyang was quite tall.

Standing in front of him, Jiang Li appeared rather petite.

She had originally planned to ruffle his hair.

But due to the height difference, she gave up on the idea.

"Lower your head." Xie Huaichu's sudden words left both of them a bit confused.

"Lower what head?" Lu Ziyang looked at Xie Huaichu with a puzzled expression.

"Yours." Xie Huaichu's gaze was cold and chilling, causing Lu Ziyang to shiver slightly.

Reluctantly, he lowered his head, awaiting Xie Huaichu's "judgment."

"Now you can reach it." This time, Xie Huaichu was speaking to Jiang Li.

"?!" Jiang Li's expression mirrored Lu Ziyang's confusion.

"Didn't you want to ruffle his hair?" Xie Huaichu, unusually calm, patiently explained.

Jiang Li froze, her eyes wide with astonishment, with a hint of disbelief.

He was actually helping her out of an awkward situation.

"Brother, can you stop showing off like this?"

Lu Ziyang finally understood what Xie Huaichu meant and couldn't help but roll his eyes.

"I'm almost bursting from all the dog food you guys are feeding me."

Jiang Li: "..."

Who's showing off? Does this kid have a problem with his eyesight?

Xie Huaichu: "Showing off?"

He frowned slightly, not quite understanding what Lu Ziyang was saying.

"Yeah." As they walked toward the living room, Lu Ziyang answered him.

"Your behavior just now was totally showing off love. My teeth are sore from it."

"Yang Zai, do you have a problem with your eyes?" Jiang Li said helplessly, listening to his explanation.

"Does nearsightedness count?" Lu Ziyang replied seriously.

Upon hearing this, Jiang Li instinctively nodded. "No wonder."

Nearsightedness, so he couldn't see clearly.

Xie Huaichu watched as the two walked side by side, and the words Lu Ziyang had just said echoed in his ears.

Showing off love.

Love.

He and the little girl...

It didn't sound so bad.

Jiang Li and Lu Ziyang went to the garden terrace outside the living room for the tutoring session.

The two sat around a round table.

Jiang Li first had Lu Ziyang do a test paper.

By correcting it, she found his weaknesses.

Then, she explained the key points in the form of a story to help him absorb the information.

After hearing it, Lu Ziyang's face lit up with joy. "Sister, you're amazing."

"I didn't understand any of these points when the class teacher taught them."

"But you made me remember them with just a few words."

"If I keep learning at this pace, I'll definitely become a top student."

Hearing this, Jiang Li smiled. "Yang Zai is smart; you just didn't use the right method."

Xie Huaichu sat on the sofa in the living room, holding a book in his hands.

He had the day off today.

Shaomoyan asked him to go with him to the club, but he turned it down.

The reason was that he remembered Jiang Li was coming over today.

As he watched the two of them chatting and laughing face to face, a feeling of irritation rose within Xie Huaichu.

The little girl looked stunning when she smiled, but it was also incredibly tempting.

Just watching from a distance made him uneasy.

That damn kid was so close—how could he possibly remain unaffected?

At that moment, the butler came over with a fruit platter. Xie Huaichu called out to him.

"Uncle Chen, I'll do it."

He stood up calmly, walked over, and extended his hand, speaking to the butler.

"Young Master, I can bring it over for you."

"You've finally got a day off; how can you be doing such rough work?"

Xie Huaichu fixed his gaze on him, keeping his hand outstretched.

A hint of impatience appeared in his eyes, his lips pressing into a thin line. The coldness in his demeanor deepened.

Seeing this, the butler quickly placed the fruit platter into his hands, his tone full of respect. "Young Master, please be careful."

"Go on and get to work." Xie Huaichu's words were cold.

With that, he carried the fruit platter and made his way toward the two people in the living room.

"Wow, mangoes are so cool! I definitely have to see one for myself next time."

Lu Ziyang was chatting excitedly with Jiang Li when suddenly, a shadow fell overhead.

Both of them looked up at the same time, and there stood Xie Huaichu, his face expressionless.

His eyes contained suppressed emotions, and because of the backlight, neither of them could see his expression clearly.

But Lu Ziyang, still, managed to keenly sense that Xie Huaichu was not happy.

"Bro." He stood up obediently, making space for him.

He quickly took the fruit platter from Xie Huaichu's hands and placed it down.

"How's it going?" He sat in the spot next to Jiang Li, his voice low and calm as he asked.
