Chapter 322 - Chapter 322: The Dark Era of the Ōtsutsuki?

Kitagawa Gen silently looked at Kaguya.

What the hell is all this supposed to be?!

Putting up with that idiot Deidara was one thing, but how did she also start doing this?

Although Kitagawa Gen admitted that he had indeed done it…

But how could that be the same?

He was doing this to save the countless living beings of the shinobi world, and with even the "Dark Forest Theory" coming into play, who knew how many planets he had saved!

The entire universe kneeling down to thank him wouldn't even be too much, right?

So why was it being made to look like he was some kind of final villain here?

"Hey, can you calm down a little?"

Kitagawa Gen rubbed his brow, using his consciousness to "hold back" Kaguya's chakra as he spoke.

"And also, stop spouting nonsense there. I'm a good person."

"Let go of me!"

However, Kitagawa Gen's words didn't seem to have any positive effect—Kaguya resisted even more violently.

"I heard everything you said. You don't have to say any more. You just want to make me a part of your Divine Ascension Stairway, don't you?!"

"No, what are you even thinking."

"I saw it all, and I heard it all!"

"…"

"The reason you're so strong must be because you devoured Urashiki. Momoshiki only devoured Kinshiki, but Kinshiki was just a guardian!"

"…"

"So he wasn't your match. But now you've refined him into a pill as well—your power will definitely become even stronger, and your ambition will only grow even bigger!"

Kitagawa Gen fell silent. He felt that this woman was somewhat insane.

What did she mean, his ambition would grow even bigger?

His heart had never changed, alright?!

Even if he wasn't some 'champion of justice,' he definitely wasn't a bad person, right?

"Are you sick or something?"

Kitagawa Gen rubbed his brow and spoke with some helplessness.

"If I really wanted to do anything, I could've made my move the very first time I saw you. Wouldn't that have made dealing with Momoshiki even easier for me?"

"That's because you also have the Ten Tails!"

Kaguya spoke with absolute certainty, as if she had already "seen through" Kitagawa Gen.

"Your clone has already exposed everything. That clone is completely condensed from the God Tree, so don't even think about deceiving me!"

"..."

Kitagawa Gen was once again rendered speechless, while Kaguya continued speaking.

"You're not making a move on me because you want to verify whether a dead Ōtsutsuki can plant a tree."

"..."

"After all, I once used half of Isshiki's body for planting. That part of my experience is useful to you!"

"..."

"No wonder you're unwilling to touch the Kāma of Isshiki and Urashiki. It's entirely because you're still waiting to truly devour them and reach the 'Divine Ascension Stairway'!"

"..."

Kitagawa Gen was left utterly speechless by what Kaguya said. What the hell was all this supposed to be?

He really couldn't understand how this woman had managed to imagine so many messed-up things.

Moreover, he really felt now that this woman was just a naive simpleton.

She even dared to say something like this out loud?

If it were someone else, wouldn't they have really strangled her on the spot?

The Ōtsutsuki clan was not only arrogant; their intelligence was also slightly worrying.

"Brilliant."

Kitagawa Gen let out a sigh, then clapped his hands and laughed.

"I really didn't expect your powers of insight to be this high. Even I'm a little surprised."

"You—"

Kaguya seemed somewhat nervous. Although her voice was still icy, it was truly very hard for her to remain calm in front of the person before her.

"You admit it?"

"Actually, there is one thing I don't understand."

Kitagawa Gen gently shook his head, and his gaze suddenly became a bit cold.

"Now that you already know my secret, why do you still dare to say it out loud?"

"..."

Kaguya clenched her fists, and she suddenly had a bad premonition, while Kitagawa Gen went on speaking in a low voice.

"Isn't this the kind of thing that, once you know it, you should bury deep in your heart and absolutely not let me find out?"

"..."

"Because saying it like this might make me fly into a rage out of humiliation and kill you on the spot, or might make me change my plans and make a move on you ahead of time."

"..."

"So, are you longing to die?"

Kaguya fell somewhat silent at that, because she realized that she really shouldn't have spoken up.

It would have been much better to completely act as if she didn't know anything, and then slowly look for an opportunity to try to "escape from the devil's clutches"!

But now that she thought back on it, it seemed that everything was already too late.

"Are you going to make a move on me?"

After quite a while, Kaguya finally spoke heavily.

"Use my power to complete your so-called 'Divine Ascension Stairway'?"

"It wouldn't necessarily be impossible."

Sensing Kaguya's fear, Kitagawa Gen then shook his head.

"But why do you always feel like I'm some kind of bad person?"

"Aren't you?"

Kaguya asked with a frown, which made Kitagawa Gen feel a bit strained.

"If I really wanted to do something, you would've been done for long ago. In my eyes, you, Isshiki, Urashiki, and Momoshiki are all the same. There isn't much difference between you."

He truly wasn't joking. At least judging from the combat strength Kitagawa Gen had shown, the differences between them really weren't that big.

"As for me, don't you find this very interesting?"

"Interesting?"

Kaguya was a bit confused. She truly didn't understand what could be "interesting" about such frightening words, but Kitagawa Gen instead laughed.

"Power is something every single Ōtsutsuki desires. And 'Chakra Edible Creation' makes many things become possible."

"So…"

"So that's why there is the 'Divine Ascension Stairway.' That's why there is the 'Dark Forest Theory.' That's why everything now exists. If these things were to spread back…"

At this point, Kitagawa Gen also stopped.

If this were to spread back, the entire Ōtsutsuki clan would truly usher in a 'Dark Era'!

The Ōtsutsuki's pursuit of power was endless. Especially for beings whose lifespans were so long, only power was something truly real.

Even in death, they refused to stop!

Before Isshiki died, in his final moments, he still used his soul to rush over to tell Code that he must continue going to other planets to plant God Trees.

Continuously devouring planets and life across the universe to evolve, until the moment they became Gods!

Such obsession could only be described as madness.

If they really learned about this 'Divine Ascension Stairway'…

Kitagawa Gen didn't even dare imagine the consequences!

'And also, if even one of these three manages to survive the shinobi world's 'battle royale' and return alive…'

Kitagawa Gen couldn't help touching his chin as he muttered inwardly.

'Maybe it could trigger the Ōtsutsuki's 'Dark Turmoil'?'

"So that's how it is?"

As she pondered, Kaguya also understood in this moment.

"This is your true objective."

"Yes."

Kitagawa Gen nodded and spoke with a smile.

"This is my territory. How could I allow them to run wild? And your power is very important as well—after all, you've devoured a fruit."

"This is what you meant, back then, when you said you would help?"

Kaguya asked with a frown, and Kitagawa Gen did not hide anything.

"That's right. I said we are natural allies. You want to escape from their pursuit, and I'm more or less the same—just that the method I use is a bit more special."

Special?

Making all the Ōtsutsuki so terrified was indeed very special!

Kaguya silently looked at Kitagawa Gen, and after a long moment, she spoke faintly.

"Now, I believe that you truly are an Ōtsutsuki born in this world."

"?"

Kitagawa Gen froze for a moment, while Kaguya returned to her icy tone.

"You're just like Hagoromo—ruthless, cold, and even to the point of being heartless!"

"..."

"If you hadn't been born in this world, you would hardly be capable of reaching such a level!"

"..."

"Hagoromo… it seems I really underestimated you. Now it appears that you've won."

"..."

Kitagawa Gen took a deep breath. He was already considering whether he should go back to the moon and find this woman's original body…

And then give her a dose of "Chakra Edible Creation," letting her ascend the "Divine Ascension Stairway" with him.

"So, you want to team up?"

...

Kitagawa Gen's situation could still be considered "relatively smooth," but inside the "Ōtsutsuki exclusive passage," things were a bit more complicated.

Momoshiki looked warily at Isshiki and Urashiki. He had never imagined that he would run into these two in this damned place!

The worst one of all was Isshiki—because it was this guy who gave Genshiki the idea of the "Divine Ascension Stairway." He was the one who awakened the demon in Genshiki's heart.

Facing this man, even if he had actually done it himself, he still had to be extremely cautious.

"That's right. We're teaming up."

Isshiki looked at Momoshiki's wary expression. Although his face was expressionless, he still couldn't help clenching his fist.

He knew that this guy had definitely accepted the same nonsense from Urashiki and believed Genshiki's entire theory.

But the problem was—this guy had actually done it!

While he himself hadn't done anything yet—so what right did Momoshiki have to make that kind of face at him?

"You've seen Genshiki's level of strength. If we don't join forces, I'm afraid it'll be very hard to hold out against him. This is not an exaggeration."

"Genshiki is far more terrifying than we imagined. I believe you've already experienced it yourself, even after you devoured Kinshiki."

Urashiki let out a cold snort as he spoke from the side. He still looked the same as before.

He simply hadn't noticed that the look in his eyes when he glanced at Momoshiki and Isshiki had already begun to subtly change.

"He didn't just devour my power. He also learned unimaginable things in this world. Before that, I wasn't his match at all."

"Learned things?"

Momoshiki really didn't want to listen to their nonsense. In his view, the intentions of these two were clearly malicious—but in his current situation, he could only pretend to go along.

"A planet overrun by lower lifeforms—what could he possibly learn here?"

"Don't underestimate them. The situation here is extremely unusual."

Isshiki looked at Momoshiki. Although he felt disdain inwardly, he still explained. At the same time, he also had his own additional calculations in mind.

Momoshiki had originally remained dismissive, but his expression gradually became solemn.

"A thousand-year blood war? Continuous combat cycles? A millennium of accumulated experience and fighting technique?"

He couldn't help muttering. What the hell was going on with this damned world?

"Otherwise, what did you think I lost to?"

Urashiki spoke with disdain, his fist tightening slightly.

"This world feels as though someone has forced it into battle for a thousand years straight. The accumulated knowledge is unimaginable. That's what allowed Genshiki to win!"

"This is insane…"

Momoshiki couldn't help muttering, then swore outright: "Which lunatic did this?!"

"Kaguya's son."

Isshiki answered naturally.

"Maybe he thought I wasn't dead. Maybe he feared that our clan would come searching. So—"

But halfway through the explanation, he couldn't continue.

Because he suddenly noticed that both Momoshiki and Urashiki were looking at him with an expression that clearly said, 'Who are you trying to fool?'

He almost lost control right there. And Momoshiki, with a playful tone, asked: "Then where is her son now? Why haven't we sensed him?"

"He's dead."

Isshiki answered truthfully—but when he saw the faint disdain appear in their eyes, his fists instantly clenched even harder.

Right now, no matter what he said, it would be wrong!

And he had a strong feeling that if he kept talking, the next lines would inevitably become things like "How did he die?", "Was it you?", and "So you did do it after all!"

"Let's stop talking about useless things."

Isshiki took a deep breath, then spoke again.

"Right now we need to join forces. What is your decision?"

"Join forces, huh…"

Momoshiki contemplated for a moment, then finally nodded.

"No problem. It seems that to deal with that Genshiki guy, we really will have to work together."

In truth, Momoshiki was still somewhat unwilling. After all, the Ōtsutsuki were a proud race.

Teaming up to deal with a single person—of course Momoshiki didn't like it!

But given the current situation, even if he was unwilling, he no longer had a choice.

Genshiki was truly terrifyingly strong—his level far exceeded expectations!

And Momoshiki felt that teaming up might not be a bad thing after all, because—

'I've already devoured Kinshiki. Out of the three of us, I should be the strongest.'

Momoshiki had his own calculations. Looking at the two "good brothers" before him, he showed a smile.

'For now, stabilizing things is good for me. As long as I recover and then take down Genshiki, then…'

The "Divine Ascension Stairway" would be right in front of him!

"A wise choice."

Isshiki finally showed a faint smile. He suddenly felt that Momoshiki wasn't so bad after all.

At the very least, Momoshiki didn't ask him anything regarding Kaguya.

Although he knew that Momoshiki probably believed that "you did it too"…

But that no longer mattered. After witnessing everything, he really did want to do it now!

The Ōtsutsuki clan had always pursued power—they had always struggled to become that Ōtsutsuki God.

Now that a path had been discovered, a path verified to be the true "Divine Ascension Stairway," why wouldn't he walk it?

'Besides, even if I don't do it, they will. If I want to survive, I have to do it!'

Isshiki smiled brightly, and Urashiki nodded along.

"Welcome to the team. The three of us will definitely be able to take down that madman Genshiki."

And after taking him down, everything would depend on personal ability!

Urashiki had also figured things out—right now, their own kin were worse than dogs. He'd rather trust the natives than trust fellow Ōtsutsuki!

Their current situation was truly a "Dark Forest."

Even though everyone seemed fine for the moment, once the problem was resolved, it would inevitably become another bloody storm.

Since that was the case, why shouldn't he do it?

At this moment, the three of them all began to laugh—and they laughed especially brightly.

Yet within those smiles, their gazes toward one another each held a trace of vigilance and "appreciation."

And deep in their hearts, all of them coincidentally muttered the same thoughts.

"I will win!"

"You will all become my 'Divine Ascension Stairway'!"

"And I will definitely be the one who survives in the end."

...

"Brother, the shinobi world really doesn't seem the same anymore."

In the Pure Land, Ōtsutsuki Hamura looked at his elder brother with a dazed expression.

"It really does seem different."

The Sage of Six Paths also nodded blankly. They, too, felt somewhat unprepared for everything happening over there.

They could naturally see everything taking place outside—but the shock was simply too great!

They had always known that "outsiders" would continue arriving, but the current situation seemed to be progressing far too quickly.

In just this short time, counting the two of them, plus their mother, and Kitagawa Gen—the shinobi world already had seven Ōtsutsuki!

A single Ōtsutsuki could destroy an entire planet with life.

Seven Ōtsutsuki—what kind of horrifying sight was that?

However—

Among the seven, two had almost no power left, only their souls remained; one was sealed.

And the other three… were on the verge of going completely insane.

"That 'Divine Ascension Stairway'… does it really exist?"

Ōtsutsuki Hamura was silent for a moment, then suddenly asked with a strange expression.

"Gen did it last time, and that Momoshiki did it too."

"Don't ask me, I don't know."

The Sage of Six Paths quickly shook his head. He really couldn't be certain, though it truly looked like that might be the case.

"But what I do know is this: if even one of them actually returns home, then the threat the Ōtsutsuki clan poses to us might not be so great anymore."

His mind worked fast. He had already guessed parts of Kitagawa Gen's intention—but it had remained a vague idea.

Now, however, Kitagawa Gen had personally spoken the words "Dark Forest Theory," which completely confirmed his suspicion.

Under such a ruthless law, the Ōtsutsuki clan would inevitably fall into a state of mutual fear.

And what they would ultimately become… was all too easy to imagine.

"The biggest problem now is: what exactly is that child Gen thinking?"

Ōtsutsuki Hamura touched his chin as he spoke.

"And he has already found our mother. If he wanted to…"

"If he wanted to, he would have taken action long ago."

The Sage of Six Paths was comparatively calmer. After thinking for a moment, he spoke again.

"The seal from back then has already weakened after a thousand years. If Gen wanted to open it, it's not impossible. So—"

"So he won't do anything for the time being, right?"

Ōtsutsuki Hamura immediately understood what his elder brother meant, and the Sage of Six Paths nodded seriously.

"That's right. And Gen was born in the shinobi world. The education he received would surely make him understand that while fighting alone works, alliances are still needed."

"So from the very beginning, he wanted to find Mother as an ally, rather than treat her as a 'Divine Ascension Stairway'?"

Ōtsutsuki Hamura nodded knowingly. This explanation was, in fact, the most reasonable.

After all, the moment he first saw Kitagawa Gen, he had already realized that this boy's strength was extraordinary.

And now, whether deliberately or unintentionally creating the "Divine Ascension Stairway," and even attempting it himself—

Kitagawa Gen's strength was now absolutely immeasurable. If one or even two Ōtsutsuki encountered him, they might very well be forced to retreat!

"Brother, you really were thinking that way back then, weren't you?"

Thinking this far, Ōtsutsuki Hamura couldn't help feeling emotional, which made the Sage of Six Paths raise a brow.

"You're starting again?"

"A thousand years of accumulated technique, a thousand years of accumulated experience, all falling onto Gen and producing unbelievable results—is that not your achievement?"

"A–achievement?"

"That's right. Even though a thousand years claimed countless lives and left the shinobi world covered in corpses, the emergence of a child like Gen—how is that not an achievement?"

"…"

"Brother, I think I understand you a little more now."

"…"

"For the sake of the entire shinobi world, no matter how many sacrifices were made over a thousand years, as long as there was even the slightest chance, it was worth it. That is your accomplishment!"

Faced with his younger brother's "admiring" gaze, at this moment the Sage of Six Paths was truly bewildered.

Even he couldn't help thinking about one thing—

'Back then… did I really think that?'

...

"It looks like that Akatsuki group really is insane."

In Konoha, inside the Hokage's office, all the upper-level leaders and several key personnel had already gathered.

The Three Kage Summit had ended somewhat anticlimactically, but there was nothing they could do about it.

Akatsuki's surprise attack and the arrival of the Ōtsutsuki had made it impossible for the meeting to continue.

Even the venue itself had been destroyed by all those messy incidents!

Fortunately, the things that needed to be discussed had mostly been discussed.

What remained were just some supplementary details and everyone's final decisions.

"It's just that Uchiha Obito—why does he sound so much like Uchiha Madara?"

Senju Tobirama's face was unpleasant as he looked toward his elder brother.

"But you can't deny that what that guy said was correct—because this is one of the few points I actually agree with!"

"At a time like this, are you still hung up on details like that?"

Senju Hashirama was a little troubled; of course he understood what his younger brother meant.

"And don't forget—while we were holding the meeting, Madara already made a move. He struck Kirigakure. Which means—"

"They've taken the Three-Tails. Looks like they really do have the confidence to declare war."

Kitagawa Gen picked up the thread of the conversation. Now he was even more certain about what kind of chaotic things Obito was plotting in his mind.

This guy most likely intended to use the Ten-Tails to attract the attention of his identity as "Ōtsutsuki Genshiki."

At the same time, using the opportunity of declaring war on the shinobi world, he would mobilize all the forces of every village, and then…

'During the great war, he'd summon the Ten-Tails, lure 'Ōtsutsuki Genshiki' over, and then use the entire shinobi world to deal with 'Ōtsutsuki Genshiki'!'

One had to admit—this guy really did have ideas. And if it were any other Ōtsutsuki, they would definitely fall for it.

'Even without Yakushi Kabuto, with Orochimaru here, the effect won't be much worse.'

Kitagawa Gen touched his chin, feeling that this was quite a good opportunity.

There were still three Ōtsutsuki in the shinobi world who had become "Kāma." They were certainly eager to keep fighting in order to "thaw" themselves.

So one battle after another was absolutely essential!

Kitagawa Gen truly was looking forward to them freeing themselves a bit faster, because that would definitely be a good thing for him.

His development had already reached eighty-two percent. He was extremely curious about what kind of effect he would see once he reached one hundred percent.

'And to reach that one hundred percent, their 'effort and sweat,' their 'dedication and contribution,' are absolutely indispensable.'

Kitagawa Gen silently muttered in his heart, and at this moment Jiraiya couldn't help but speak up.

"But seriously, they haven't even set a time to start the war, and they don't even have a final battlefield chosen. How can they be so half-baked?"

"Indeed. They're basically a makeshift troupe."

Tsunade also nodded despite herself, while Sarutobi Hiruzen appeared more cautious.

"We must not underestimate them. After all, Orochimaru is with them. Maybe they intend to launch attacks from every direction."

"Or maybe they want to wear us down first."

Namikaze Minato also couldn't help adding.

"After all, gathering troops consumes an enormous amount of supplies. We don't know what their situation is, but we probably can't sustain it."

"So what should we do?"

Senju Hashirama couldn't help asking out of curiosity. He scratched the back of his head and continued.

"Should we go scout them? If we can find them, everything will become simple."

"If we could find them, we would've wiped them out already!"

Senju Tobirama cast a disdainful glance at his elder brother, while Kitagawa Gen thought for a moment and then spoke.

"Actually, this isn't bad. Even though the consumption is great, we can use this to test the daimyō's level of support for us."

"Daimyō?"

The moment Kitagawa Gen said this, everyone present froze.

Immediately after, aside from Senju Tobirama—whose eyes lit up—the others were practically seeing black!

"At a time like this, you're still thinking about the daimyō, Gen?"

Kakashi couldn't help rubbing his temples, but Kitagawa Gen spoke as if it were perfectly natural.

"This is exactly the time to test the daimyō's loyalty. After all, the entire shinobi world is in crisis. If he doesn't support us now…"

"Then we need to replace him with a more obedient daimyō—one more willing to support us in protecting the fruit of peace!"

Senju Tobirama didn't waste a single word. He immediately picked up Kitagawa Gen's sentence and continued.

"A bunch of parasites who think too highly of themselves just because they have some money. Not killing them already is legitimacy and justification!"

"Exactly, exactly."

Kitagawa Gen felt that the "Senju Tobirama unit of measurement" was terrible at times, but at other times, truly excellent.

"For the vast majority of people, as long as there's a suitable daimyō to act as a mascot and pay the bills, it really doesn't matter who the daimyō actually is."

"All right, all right, let's put this topic aside for now."

Sarutobi Hiruzen looked at the Fifth and Second Hokage getting along so well and found himself unable to keep a straight face.

The others remained silent—after all, they were used to scenes like this. Even Namikaze Minato had "seen" this kind of situation many times.

"Let's talk about the other arrangements. We can't afford to be too passive."

"If those guys don't show themselves, we can't do much for the moment—but that also gives us plenty of time."

Kitagawa Gen touched his chin, then spoke up.

"Sasuke's eyes should be handled properly now. Besides that, the Nine-Tails' power in Naruto's body doesn't seem to be complete."

"That's right. Half of the Nine-Tails' power is still inside me."

Namikaze Minato instantly understood Kitagawa Gen's intent. He nodded and said: "Only a complete Nine-Tails can fully unleash greater power. This is indeed feasible."

"Sasuke's eyes really should be handled as well, since we've delayed it for so long."

Tsunade nodded from the side. This matter had been her responsibility all along.

Although she didn't have a definite answer yet, she felt they were close enough.

"We can run a few trials. If nothing else works, we can use some of those cells. There will always be a solution."

"That's fine."

Kitagawa Gen nodded. Although the growth of these two boys was not as critical as it originally would have been—

Having a few more good "helpers" was definitely not a bad thing. Kitagawa Gen also quite wanted to see what the Sage of Six Paths would do.

And if an opportunity arose, there was no reason they couldn't meet.

The meeting lasted for a long time; there were simply too many details to discuss.

All kinds of mobilization and coordination had to be fully arranged. It wasn't until late at night that Kitagawa Gen was finally able to return home.

"At last everything's done. What a hassle."

After returning home, Kitagawa Gen directly released a Divine Tree clone, while he himself had already entered "Ame-no-Minaka."

After all, since he had obtained such great benefits, he needed to properly handle them.

"I truly didn't expect you to have stored such a massive Divine Tree inside Ame-no-Minaka."

Just as Kitagawa Gen entered, Kaguya within him couldn't help voicing her astonishment.

That towering giant tree reached into the heavens, blocking out the sky and sun, and enormous energy pulsed throughout its body.

Even an Ōtsutsuki would feel surprised upon seeing such a tree.

"And your Divine Tree seems somewhat unusual."

Kaguya's cold voice continued, her tone seemingly carrying a trace of doubt.

"Why does it seem to contain my power—and beyond that, Isshiki's power as well?"

"I must say, your perception isn't bad."

Kitagawa Gen looked at the giant tree he had cultivated and the corner of his mouth lifted into a faint smile.

"That black thing has your chakra. And since I had encountered him before, I extracted some chakra from him."

"Black…"

Kaguya instantly understood what he meant, which made her expression a bit unpleasant, though she didn't dare say too much.

"And Isshiki? You didn't absorb his energy?"

"At the time, he was only at the third stage of Kāma. What I extracted was the chakra of the Kāma."

Kitagawa Gen shook his head and spoke seriously.

"The main thing was that I wanted to see what memories he had, and I've already more or less understood those, so…"

Even though Kitagawa Gen didn't finish speaking, Kaguya understood. The rest had naturally been fed to the tree.

"No wonder your Divine Tree is so enormous. Even without unfolding, it's enough to leave one in awe."

Kaguya nodded, then spoke with a touch of emotion.

"But such a massive Divine Tree—and you're giving it so much energy—yet you haven't let it condense a fruit. That's far too extravagant."

"What do you mean?"

Kitagawa Gen tilted his head with curiosity, and Kaguya did not hide anything.

"This means that to fully nurture it, the amount of energy required will be enormous. Haven't you noticed that it still hasn't completely awakened?"

"True, but mainly because I haven't gone all out on the jinchūriki, so the tailed beast chakra I've supplied hasn't been much."

Kitagawa Gen rubbed his chin and casually replied, but Kaguya shook her head.

"As far as it is concerned, producing energy isn't complicated, and it has nowhere to spend its own energy. It's only because you've cultivated it too well that it turned out this way."

"Not necessarily."

Kitagawa Gen raised an eyebrow, though he had no interest in telling Kaguya that this thing was not the same as the Ten-Tails in the hands of other Ōtsutsuki.

This one would absolutely never betray him, would continuously supply him with energy, and would ceaselessly help him undergo transformation—an excellent thing indeed!

His eye techniques—aside from the ones that came with the Tenseigan—were all brought about by this "Source of the Divine Tree."

"Think whatever you want. I really do want to see what kind of fruit it will eventually produce."

Kaguya didn't dwell on it. She simply looked curiously at the Divine Tree.

"For it to condense a fruit, the amount of power required truly won't be small. And once it does condense a fruit, the result will likely be unimaginable."

"Is that so?"

Kitagawa Gen flashed upward to the dome and casually picked up the "pill" condensed by Momoshiki, smiling as he spoke.

"It seems the road ahead of me is still very long. I'll have to keep working harder."

But as he spoke, Kitagawa Gen suddenly froze, because a thought struck him.

That guy Isshiki—and the remains of "Ōtsutsuki Shibai"!

If he were to use the remains of the being closest to an "Ōtsutsuki God" as an offering, then the energy contained within…

Kitagawa Gen abruptly stopped halfway through his sentence. His focused silence made Kaguya frown.

Suddenly, a rather troubling thought surfaced in her mind.

'Oh no—could he be worrying that the number of Ōtsutsuki isn't enough…'

'That would be terrible…'
