Huo Yuhao examined the silver-glowing vertebra in his hand. His spiritual power continuously scanned it, and the result made him lift his eyebrows in surprise.
"There's no identification result?"
He couldn't determine the soul beast species or age of this bone at all. With the help of experienced beings like Snow Empress assisting him, this was an impossibility—unless...
'Unless this bone isn't a soul bone at all.'
Huo Yuhao's eyes widened in shock. His mind flashed to the Third Elder's unique martial soul—spinal marrow.
Could this vertebra actually be the Third Elder's spine? The silver light it radiated certainly matched the characteristics of his silver-grade second awakening martial soul.
The strange part was, how could a soul master's bone be just like a soul beast's soul bone?
Huo Yuhao couldn't find an answer.
As he frowned, lost in thought, the door to his room knocked softly, then slowly opened.
It was Meng Hongchen.
Seeing her walk in, Huo Yuhao's expression softened. He quickly put away the vertebra into his storage ring and smiled.
"You're back."
Meng Hongchen nodded lightly, took off her coat, and rushed over. With a soft thud, she threw herself into Huo Yuhao's arms, hugging him tightly around the waist.
Feeling the warmth of the girl in his arms, Huo Yuhao stroked her white hair. The two of them silently enjoyed this tender moment.
After a while, Meng Hongchen spoke softly from his embrace.
"It's getting late. Tonight... I don't want to sleep. I don't want to cultivate either."
Huo Yuhao froze. 'Not sleeping? Not cultivating? Then what...?'
At that moment, his brain spun rapidly, trying to figure out what she meant. In less than a second, he understood. His pupils shrank violently.
'A man and a woman, alone in a room for the night, not sleeping or cultivating... What else could it be?'
Huo Yuhao's breathing quickened. After spending so many days and nights together, he and Meng Hongchen were already practically a couple. Now that he was fully fourteen years old, there didn't seem to be any problem doing that kind of thing.
But he still felt it was all happening a little too suddenly.
Sensing his hesitation, Meng Hongchen seemed to encourage him to break through the final barrier between them. She hugged him tighter, her hands gently roaming over his body.
At this moment, how could a young man like Huo Yuhao possibly restrain himself?
"Mm."
With a thought, the curtains of the inn room closed, and the door locked silently. In the next instant, Huo Yuhao, whose body burned with heat, flipped over and pinned Meng Hongchen beneath him.
That night, even the Auspicious Beast in the neighboring room didn't fall asleep.
'If I'm not mistaken...'
Her little face blushed bright red. She pressed her ear against the wall, listening intently.
Even though Huo Yuhao had set up soundproofing, how could he hide from the Auspicious Beast's keen senses? She still noticed the faint sounds of heavy breathing coming from next door.
The Auspicious Beast had some basic understanding of the matters between men and women. Naturally, she knew exactly what kind of sounds these were, and who was making them.
At first, she wanted to ignore it and go to sleep.
But for reasons even she couldn't explain, she found herself lying against the wall, listening, her heart pounding with a mix of embarrassment and excitement.
In the beginning, she was curious and thrilled.
Later, her heart simply went numb.
'How long... has it been...?'
She glanced out the window at the faint light of dawn.
'This is... way too long.'
Eventually, she tried her best to ignore the persistent moans coming from the next room.
Silently, she climbed into bed and lay down, wondering why she had wasted an entire night listening to such sounds... so engrossed that she hadn't done anything else at all.
Outside the little inn, the two humans and one beast gathered, ready to set off.
The Auspicious Beast squinted her eyes, staring at the extremely rosy-cheeked Meng Hongchen and the pale-faced Huo Yuhao.
Feeling her scrutinizing gaze, Meng Hongchen smiled as if nothing had happened, waving cheerfully.
"Good morning, Little Rui."
The Auspicious Beast nodded, then shifted her gaze to Huo Yuhao, who looked so weak he had to support himself by leaning against Meng Hongchen.
Feeling her stare, Huo Yuhao broke out in a cold sweat. He remembered setting up a sound barrier… But that didn't matter now.
What mattered was—he had been completely drained dry.
Huo Yuhao hadn't expected that even with his soul master physique, he could last so long.
Nor had he imagined that Meng Hongchen's body could endure it too. Although the process was exhilarating, afterward, he was genuinely exhausted.
On the other hand, Meng Hongchen, having been thoroughly filled, looked full of energy.
When Huo Yuhao walked out of the inn, he needed her support just to move forward.
"Good morning, Little Rui," Huo Yuhao greeted weakly.
Hearing his frail voice, the Auspicious Beast almost couldn't hold back her laughter. 'Serves you right for going at it for so long.'
Meng Hongchen let out a mischievous giggle.
"Since we're all rested, let's head straight south toward Dragon City. Being in a foreign land still feels a little uncomfortable."
Huo Yuhao wanted to protest. 'Rested? Rested your head!'
Meng Hongchen caught his disgruntled look and burst into laughter.
"Alright, alright. I'll carry you as we fly. Just lean on your lady here."
Thanks to their soul master physiques, after flying for a whole morning, Huo Yuhao's missing yang energy was quickly replenished.
After all, he was the possessor of the Life Origin.
What he had lost could naturally be considered part of his life force.
They found a forest to rest in and recover their soul power.
They were still in the northern part of the Dou Ling Empire. The climate here remained quite cold, so the forest was full of coniferous trees, covering a large area. It was clearly a habitat for many soul beasts, though compared to the Sunset Forest or the Star Dou Forest, it was much less dense.
While resting, Huo Yuhao also planned to continue studying the thing Meng Hongchen had interrupted him from examining last night—the Third Elder's spine-like soul bone.
