Chapter 120 - Chapter 118: He Caitou? Xu He!

If a mortal were to wield the Power of Creation alone, it would only bring disaster. That was why they chose someone to inherit both the divine positions of Destruction and Life.

The Chosen One of the Douluo Continent was relatively rational. That was one reason he could properly control the Power of Creation—but if something happened to someone close to him, if he lost that rationality, what then? The likely result was that he would sink too deeply into the destructive will of the Power of Destruction… and fall into the abyss.

Realizing this, the God of Destruction frowned. He now understood the Goddess of Life's concern.

"Xiao Lü, what should we do?"

The Goddess of Life smiled.

"At last, you're relying on me for once, Xiao Zi. Do you still remember that beast-race Chosen One I picked out before?"

The God of Destruction nodded.

"Yes, the Emperor Auspice Beast—the only one in this plane who can foresee fate. We were planning to have it assist our successor anyway."

He suddenly nodded in realization.

"Xiao Lü, I understand your idea now. If the successor can gain the ability to predict fate…"

Exactly. That way, even without direct intervention from the Gods of Destruction and Life, the successor could use his own power to avoid misfortune.

"With the power of life, that little one will eventually meet the successor. It's tired of being treated like a caged ornament. This is a chance—for both cooperation and to change the beast-race's fate."

The Goddess of Life smiled sweetly. As a goddess with compassion for all life, she was fully aware of the beast-race's dire situation in the mortal world.

The God of Destruction affectionately patted her head. He adored his kind-hearted wife.

After finishing her first lesson with Teacher Huo Yuhao, Wang Dong left the lab dazed, heading back to her dorm. To be honest, she'd expected soul tool learning to be a dull process—just memorizing and inscribing core formations with nothing fun about it.

But to her surprise, Huo Yuhao's lecture on electricity-based soul tools—something she'd never even heard of—turned out to be difficult yet fascinating. Even now, questions he left her to ponder still circled her mind.

Meanwhile, inside the lab, Huo Yuhao stretched lazily. That pink-haired girl was a bit slow, but learning basic electrical soul tools—which he believed were simpler than conventional ones—should be within her grasp.

His plan to "PUA" the little pink head was going well. Despite being cold and harsh in class, and even scolding Wang Dong directly, her favorability toward him didn't drop. In fact, it might have gone up.

Thinking of this, Huo Yuhao sneered. The next step would be to plant the idea that she couldn't live without him.

Once the plan succeeded, even if Tang Fozu tried to manipulate her, Wang Dong would resist instinctively. 'You say you're my dad? No way! My dad would never make me hurt Huo Yuhao or anyone around him.'

Huo Yuhao really wanted to see that father-daughter drama. A guy who could split his daughter's soul to create a stitched-together freak—what kind of father was that? Trash, obviously.

In Huo Yuhao's eyes, Wang Dong might be proud, but at heart, she was a decent person. Thankfully, her memories didn't include being raised under Tang Fozu's guidance—unlike Tang Wutong.

After class and finishing his work in Mingde Hall, Huo Yuhao didn't go home to find Meng Hongchen. He wandered the teaching building and sat down on a bench outside Xuan Ziwen's lab, waiting leisurely.

Inside the lab, He Caitou was being tested by Xuan Ziwen: create a satisfactory, creative Grade 5 soul tool within one hour.

Xuan Ziwen had said that if he wasn't satisfied, He Caitou would be sent to study solo in the library. So, He Caitou went all in.

After an hour, He Caitou handed over a completed soul tool nervously.

Xuan Ziwen took it and glanced through his glasses, already feeling disappointed—it was just a multi-attribute piercing cannon. That tech was already widespread in the Sun Moon Empire.

"Not as good as Yuhao."

He muttered. He Caitou blinked in confusion.

"Teacher Xuan, what did you say?"

"Nothing. It's okay—you pass. I'll start formally teaching you now. Listen carefully."

Having seen Huo Yuhao's endless creativity, Xuan Ziwen had raised his standards without even realizing it. Still, for a student from the Douluo Federation, this was already quite innovative.

He Caitou nodded excitedly. At last, he could access the Sun Moon Empire's advanced soul tool knowledge! As a trained Ultimate Soldier from Shrek Academy, his mission was to gather this knowledge and close the gap between the two sides.

That was why he dared come this close to Xu Tiannan's territory. Only with Douluo Federation's strength could he seek revenge.

He quickly got absorbed in Xuan Ziwen's lessons. Outside, Huo Yuhao frowned while using Spiritual Detection to eavesdrop. Xuan Ziwen really hadn't changed—zero alertness, fully focused on tech, leaking who-knows-how-many state secrets.

But Huo Yuhao didn't care. He sneered. Let the guy leak all he wants—He Caitou was no threat anyway.

Soon, he noticed a familiar silhouette approaching: Juzi.

She was surprised to see him outside her lab.

"Hello, Teacher Huo! Is something up?"

Huo Yuhao smiled calmly.

"Hi, Juzi. I'm waiting for someone."

She assumed he meant Teacher Xuan and waved goodbye before heading inside.

Huo Yuhao chuckled to himself. Just like the original timeline. Too bad He Caitou wasn't the same Yuhao. No pulling Xuan Ziwen into Tang Sect, no stealing Juzi's heart, no stealing diagrams.

Still, what if He Caitou actually managed to steal Juzi from Xu Tiannan? Huo Yuhao nearly burst out laughing. That would be some next-level revenge.

A little later, class ended. He Caitou packed up, while Juzi had already collapsed asleep at her workstation.

Huo Yuhao got excited. He was about to do something fun.

Xuan Ziwen walked out first, nodding at Huo Yuhao in greeting and leaving without a word—he'd sensed Yuhao's Spiritual Detection easily.

Huo Yuhao watched his back coldly, then turned his attention to He Caitou, who was just about to walk out.

He stood up, strolled casually to intercept.

As they passed—

"Xu He."

He whispered the name like a curse.

He Caitou froze instantly. The soft footsteps behind him felt like the toll of death itself.

His face was taut. He had a thousand questions but only one thought: silence him. How did this guy—just a supposed trainee—know his real identity?!

But he couldn't act. Either he watched Huo Yuhao walk away… or he chased him to get answers. Fighting wasn't an option—Yuhao's power in that tournament had been terrifying.

He chose to follow.

By the time he turned, Huo Yuhao was gone. Rushing to the window, he spotted Yuhao below in the building's shadow, smiling up at him.

That smile looked demonic. Drenched in cold sweat, He Caitou ran downstairs.

'Calm down. Calm down.'

His training as an Ultimate Soldier kicked in. He thought hard—why reveal this secret to his face instead of telling Xu Tiannan?

His mind settled. At least now, they could talk calmly.

Downstairs, Huo Yuhao was still there.

"Hehe. You came, Xu He."

Huo Yuhao turned and smiled.

Hearing that name again made He Caitou flinch. He asked cautiously,

"What do you want, Huo Yuhao?"

"I'm glad you're smart, Xu He. So I'll reassure you—no one else in the empire knows your true identity. Just me."

He Caitou didn't relax. What if he was lying?

"Relax. I know your past. The old emperor and Xu Tiannan slaughtered your royal line. You barely survived. I understand your desire for revenge."

Huo Yuhao spoke calmly, and He Caitou listened in silence, shocked by how much he knew.

"Let's not waste time. If you accept my conditions, you'll live out your exchange years safely as He Caitou. If not—or if you break the deal—the crown prince will send Title Douluo assassins after you."

"…What conditions?"

"First, pledge allegiance to Mingde Hall. Not the empire. Not the royal family. Just Mingde Hall. Understand?"

He Caitou paused. Then his eyes sharpened. So Huo Yuhao wasn't some ordinary prodigy either.

And pledging to Mingde Hall… honestly, He Caitou was still loyal to Shrek Academy, which saved and raised him.

But since it wasn't the empire…

"I accept."

Huo Yuhao smirked. 'You think it's that easy?'

"If you ever dare steal our confidential designs…"

He left the rest hanging. He Caitou hesitated but clenched his jaw.

"I accept."

"Good. Second, if you want revenge against Xu Tiannan's line, we might help—when the time is right. You'll be our chess piece."

"I accept."

That one aligned with his goals. He didn't mind.

"Lastly, when war breaks out, you'll help us."

"That's impossible!"

He Caitou growled. He was a Shrek man, a man of the Federation! How could he betray them?

"Oh? Then I'll go talk to Xu Tiannan."

Huo Yuhao turned to leave.

He Caitou clenched his teeth so hard they bled.

"Wait!"

Yuhao didn't stop walking.

"Say those four words. I don't want anything else. You have five seconds. Five, four—"

Blood dripped from He Caitou's lips.

"Three, two—"

"I accept!"

He shouted. As soon as the words left his mouth, he collapsed.

Huo Yuhao turned around, satisfied, and walked up to the kneeling He Caitou.

Then, with one massive hand, he gripped his throat and lifted him like a doll.

Watching him struggle and gasp, Huo Yuhao's power made resistance impossible. He Caitou passed out.

He was thrown to the ground—his mind and body broken.

"It doesn't matter if you agree. I was never going to trust your word anyway."

Huo Yuhao's eyes turned into a deep, sacred gray.

He Caitou's face twisted in pain. He began screaming.

Thankfully, the area was soundproofed.

Eventually, the screams stopped. He opened his eyes, calm now.

"Greetings, master."

"Mm. Stick to your original personality unless I call you."

"Yes, master."

He blinked again. When his eyes opened, he looked dazed.

"I've agreed. That should be enough, right?"

Huo Yuhao smiled warmly.

"Xu—no, He Caitou. Of course. We're friends now. Go on."

As he watched He Caitou flee, Huo Yuhao sighed.

"Elder Yi's technique isn't bad… splitting off a loyal sub-personality from someone's soul. If only Ma Xiaotao's spirit wasn't too strong, I'd have done it to her already."
