Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Nami’s Vengeance, Sunshine Returns to Cocoyasi Village

Seeing Nami take the initiative, Arlong realized his threats no longer had any hold on her.

With a furious bellow, he shouted,

"Use seawater! That's how we can hit her—everyone, attack!!"

Seawater—

The bane of all Devil Fruit users. Logia types were no exception.

"Kill her!!"

"Nami, you traitorous worm!!"

"RAAAAAHHH!!!"

A horde of fish-men let out deafening howls as they began pounding at the sea, sending jets of seawater arcing toward her.

To them, Nami was nothing more than a jester who used to dance for their amusement.

Who gave her the right to show off now?!

"Falling Thunder!!"

Nami's tone was flat and cold as she pressed her hand downward—

The skies above exploded into streaks of silver lightning.

BOOM BOOM BOOM—!!

Massive bolts of thunder struck down without warning, blasting the fish-men charging toward her.

Several of the weaker ones collapsed on the spot—eyes rolled back, bellies up.

"Arlong! I'm repaying you today for all eight years of suffering!!"

"All of you—DIE!!"

BOOM—BOOM—BOOM—BOOM!!

Dense barrages of lightning blanketed the entire Arlong Park, cutting off any route of escape.

What followed was an indiscriminate purge.

"Captain! Save me!!"

"Run! RUN!!"

Silver-white arcs of lightning slithered across the battlefield like venomous serpents, hunting their prey.

One fish-man after another fell, scorched and twitching.

The Park echoed with screams—agonized, bloodcurdling howls that pierced the heavens.

Even the villagers of Cocoyasi, far beyond the Park, noticed the strange, rumbling skies.

And when they arrived at the gates to Arlong Park—

Their eyes widened in utter disbelief.

"Is that... Nami?!"

What had once been Arlong's impenetrable stronghold had turned into a mass grave for fish-men.

In mere moments, over half the crew had perished under the unrelenting storm.

Before this divine onslaught, the fish-men couldn't even fight back.

They were insects beneath a flood.

"Not enough... still not enough!!"

Nami's gaze remained cold and detached.

She didn't care about exhaustion—only vengeance.

She raised her hands again—

BOOOOOOOM—!!

Lightning, thick as tree trunks, rained down from the skies.

The structures within Arlong Park crumbled like sandcastles, sending smoke and dust billowing skyward.

Those fish-men who still lived?

They fled—desperate, broken, terrified.

Some weren't fast enough.

They were crushed beneath falling walls and pillars.

Aboard the Merry, above the battlefield...

Kaya and Makino stood at the edge of the deck, watching in stunned silence.

"Wow... I've never seen Nami like this before."

Makino blinked.

It was as if Nami had become a different person—so ruthless, so terrifying.

"Let her vent."

Reno's voice was calm.

He understood exactly what Nami was going through.

Eight years of hatred.

All released in one day.

Under the barrage of lightning, Arlong Park was reduced to ashes and ruin.

A crowd of villagers had gathered at the gates, wide-eyed and trembling.

In the center of the destruction, Nami stood alone, panting. Her face was flushed, her breathing ragged.

Then, all fell silent.

The lightning stopped.

The ground was scorched black.

"ARLONG!! SHOW YOURSELF!!"

Nami knew.

He wasn't dead yet.

"...Kh—Koff—!!"

A hoarse cough echoed from the rubble.

"NAMI!!!!!!"

That hateful voice.

Like a beast howling from the depths of hell.

Arlong burst from beneath a pile of debris, bloodied and broken.

His eyes were red with rage.

His massive, serrated nose was shattered.

But somehow, he was still alive.

"Tch... tough bastard."

Nami sneered coldly.

"Your whole crew is dead—yet you're the one who crawled out alive."

Arlong's body shook as he looked around.

His fish-men—

All dead.

Some electrocuted to death.

Others crushed beneath collapsing buildings.

Even Hatchan, who had tried to hide in the pool, hadn't survived.

Only Arlong remained.

"NAMI!! YOU'LL PAY!!"

His roar shook the air.

But Nami didn't flinch.

She walked forward, expression mocking.

"You think this pain is anything compared to mine? It's not even a tenth!!"

"Lightning Spear!!"

A weapon of pure thunder formed in her hand—pulsing with lethal energy.

She raised it—

And pointed it directly at Arlong.

"I'LL KILL YOU!!!"

With a final roar, Arlong launched himself at her.

But Nami only smiled.

Cruelly.

She hurled the spear.

WHOOSH—!!

A flash of silver.

And in the blink of an eye—

SPLURT—!!

It pierced through Arlong's chest, the force slamming him to the ground.

Electricity surged through his body, frying him from the inside.

His limbs convulsed violently.

He was done.

As he lay twitching, barely breathing, Nami approached.

She stood over him, looking down like a goddess of judgment.

"Look at you now, Arlong. Pathetic."

He glared up at her, full of hate—

But he couldn't speak anymore.

"When you get to the afterlife—

Apologize to my mother.

And to everyone you murdered."

She raised her palm again.

One final blast of thunder rang out—

BOOM!!

Arlong's head exploded.

Silence fell.

Nami stood still, stunned.

She couldn't believe it.

Arlong was dead.

She had done it.

That monster she had feared for eight years—

Was gone.

CRACK—!!

It was like something inside her shattered.

A heavy chain that had bound her soul.

She raised her head to the sky.

"Mom... I killed him.

You can rest in peace now."

Just then, Reno descended gracefully, flanked by Kaya and Makino.

The Merry hovered above, still carried by a cloud island.

He stepped beside Nami and gently pulled her into his arms.

"It's over."

Nami nodded heavily, tears glistening in her eyes.

"Thank you, Reno... Thank you so much."

Meeting him was the greatest blessing of her life.

He had given her freedom.

"Come on," she said softly, taking his hand. "Let me show you my home.

My sister will be thrilled to know Arlong is dead."

Reno smiled and nodded.

"Sure.

But first..."

"There's still one rat left to deal with."

"Get out here—NOW!!"
