Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Proper Use of the Rinnegan

Kaito set sail alone on his small boat.

He navigated toward a part of the sea where fish were more plentiful, cast a large net into the water, then lay back on the boat to rest for a bit. The fishing resources in the world of One Piece were quite rich, and before long, Kaito felt his boat begin to rock.

Gripping the net with one hand and giving a gentle pull, he hauled up a catch full of various fish and shrimp. The net was bulging with sea life, all struggling to escape.

Kaito raised a hand and cast a low-powered Lightning Release technique on the netted catch.

A stream of tightly packed current spread from Kaito's palm, instantly enveloping the entire net.

The fish and shrimp inside were immediately subdued by the "Lightning" and fell docile in an instant.

"Hmm, not a bad haul," Kaito said with satisfaction, getting ready to leave. But just then, the surface of the sea surged, and a massive wave broke forth as a gigantic eel-like head emerged from the water. Its upper body rose next, towering tens of meters above the sea, blood-red eyes fixed squarely on Kaito and his catch.

"A Sea King, huh? Hopefully not the only one around here," Kaito thought, staring expressionlessly at the enormous creature before him.

As the weakest of the four seas, and especially in such remote waters, Sea Kings were actually pretty rare in the East Blue.

Still, Sea Kings only looked intimidating. To Kaito, it was just a big fish. After all, he'd seen the destructive might of tailed beasts in the Naruto world—compared to that, Sea Kings were hardly worth mentioning.

"Well, I guess you'll do for a little test run. Even if it's overkill," Kaito muttered, raising his head to look directly at the Sea King.

The beast gazed down at the tiny human and his pile of prey, fully intending to devour them all. But then it saw Kaito's upturned face—and the moment it met those purple eyes, it froze.

The Rinnegan.

Instinctively, it felt a suffocating sense of fear. Reflexively, it tried to flee.

Too late.

Rinnegan: Genjutsu

An invisible wave pulsed out.

The Sea King shuddered violently. Then, its eyes transformed into the same ripple-patterned Rinnegan as Kaito's. Its life force began to drain rapidly.

Rinnegan: Genjutsu—the same technique Sasuke once used to subdue multiple tailed beasts at a glance in the original Naruto. Using it against a mere Sea King was a complete dimensional mismatch. It couldn't withstand the mental assault and instantly lost consciousness. With a heavy splash, its limp body crashed onto the sea surface and began to sink.

"This is way more convenient than Conqueror's Haki," Kaito remarked. "Still, that's a lot of meat to waste."

He raised his hand again. A swirling black vortex appeared in his palm.

Universal Pull!

A massive gravitational force burst from Kaito's palm. The Sea King's enormous corpse—dozens of meters long—was immediately drawn up from the sea.

Once the body was pulled to the rear of the boat, Kaito turned and looked toward the island he had departed from. After roughly estimating the distance, he slightly narrowed his Rinnegan eyes.

Almighty Push!

Another wave of powerful repulsion exploded outward from Kaito's body like a shockwave. The Sea King's corpse was launched away with tremendous force and vanished from sight.

It's worth noting that Kaito's Rinnegan was entirely his own—not like Nagato's, which came with life-draining drawbacks. Using basic Six Paths techniques like Almighty Push didn't come with any frustrating five-second cooldowns. Its power scaled infinitely with chakra and stamina.

(Author's note: In the world of One Piece, people's physical endurance is extremely strong. After being reconstructed by this world, the protagonist's body will far surpass what it was in his past life, making power scaling easier to handle.)

Watching the Sea King disappear over the horizon, Kaito clapped his hands with satisfaction.

"Mm, this is what they mean by 'Before the troops march, secure the provisions.'"
