Chapter 23 - 23

"Ah! Are your family members all gone?"

Wyatt was surprised again by what she said. He didn't expect such a pretty girl to have no family!

"Sigh, let's not talk about these sad things. Eat quickly, I still have to go to school later. Too bad I'm going to be late again."

Avery wasn't familiar with him yet, and there was no need to explain too much. She picked up a soup dumpling and started eating.

"Wow, these soup dumplings are so good. The taste is amazing."

Avery took a bite. The soup inside the dumpling was plentiful and very fragrant.

"Yeah, I think they're delicious too."

Since Wyatt didn't want to talk about his family anymore, he didn't ask further.

After that, the two of them chatted casually.

When they finished eating, Avery transferred him 100,000 yuan.

"Why did you send me so much? Didn't the mechanic just say it was a little over 60,000? I'll just take 70,000. I'll send back the extra 30,000."

Wyatt tapped "accept," but immediately refunded the extra 30,000.

He really couldn't afford to act rich. His company was on the verge of bankruptcy. But he didn't want the extra money either. After all, this young girl had her own hardships too.

"I'm heading back to school. Bye!"

Avery didn't say more about the money, but she also didn't take the 30,000 back. She just treated it as compensation.

Watching her walking away, Wyatt felt bitter inside.

If his company hadn't gone bankrupt, maybe he would've had a chance to try and pursue her.

Only with money can you have the right to chase beautiful girls. In his current state, even having a meal with her felt like a great honor.

"Avery, why are you only getting here now? Class already started! Were you too tired last night?"

Miles saw her come in and quickly rushed over to ask.

She couldn't help wondering if Asher had been too rough with her last night, and that's why she couldn't get up this morning.

She was curious about their gossip, especially since Asher was such a popular figure.

She even went home and asked her dad about him. Her dad told her to try not to offend Asher if possible.

"No, I got into a small car accident on the way here and helped someone fix their car."

"Sigh, why do I have a friend like you? I show up late and you don't even care about me, all you want is gossip. I really chose the wrong friend."

Avery saw how excited she looked and knew exactly what she was thinking.

"What! A car accident? Are you hurt? Do you need to go to the hospital?"

Miles immediately grew concerned and looked her up and down.

"Relax, I'm not hurt. I just had to pay someone 100,000 for car repairs. Miles, do you know anywhere I can hire good people?"

Avery figured she needed to find someone to help out with daily life. At the very least, before she got her license, she needed a driver. Otherwise, commuting to school would be a hassle.

"I'm not too familiar with the capital, but I'll ask around when I get home tonight and message you if I hear anything."

"Alright, go back to your seat. Class is starting."

When Avery saw the teacher walk in, she quickly urged her to go back.

After Miles left, Avery finally had the chance to glance at Asher. Just as she looked over, he looked at her too. Their eyes met instantly.

Asher already knew about her car accident. He didn't expect this woman didn't know how to drive.

Actually, that was a clue. It showed that in her past life, she didn't have a car. Maybe she was too poor to afford one.

Avery thought about the car accident she just had and looked really upset.

She didn't even care about the teacher. She grabbed a stool and sat right next to Asher.

"Asher, I was in a car accident just now. Boohoo, I was so scared. I thought I was going to die. Boohoo, please comfort me."

Avery threw herself into his arms and started crying softly.

Asher tried to push her away. This annoying girl was trying to take advantage of him again.

He was really fed up with how shameless she was, always acting flirty at any time.

The new teacher, who was just about to start class, was left confused. The previous two teachers had been injured and sent to the hospital.

So this new teacher wasn't familiar with how things worked in this class.

But he did know that someone like Asher, one of the top rich boys, was not someone to mess with.

"Avery, if you want to act crazy, go outside. Don't disturb our class," Rose said immediately when she saw Avery starting her drama again.

Last night, she had already told her dad that a Taoist priest would come in a few days.

At that time, they would find out if Avery was really possessed by a ghost.

"Yeah. Avery, even if you died out there, it wouldn't have anything to do with us.

But you shouldn't disturb our class just because of your personal issues.

What you're doing is way too selfish. Teacher, I strongly suggest that you kick her out.

People like her, whether they're here or not, it doesn't matter. We can't let one bad apple ruin the whole group," Marga said loudly as she stood up.

Last night, her dad had scolded her for not figuring out Avery's relationship with Asher.

Because of that, her dad made a wasted trip and had to pay five million.

That wasn't the main problem. Her dad was more afraid of getting on Asher's bad side.

Right now, Asher hadn't taken over the Shangguan family yet. If he ever did, then their whole family would be in danger.

"Teacher, go ahead and start class. Don't worry. I'll try not to disturb you," Avery said again, glancing at the two girls.

"I was scared. I have a boyfriend to cry to and complain to. Are you jealous?

But even if you are, so what? You can't be me," she added.

Then she threw herself back into Asher's arms and gave Rose and Marga a provoking look.

"Slut. Vixen," Marga cursed through gritted teeth.

Rose noticed that Asher didn't say anything or push Avery away, so even though she had more to say, she held her tongue.

"Enough. Sit back down and pay attention to class. If you're hurt, I'll call a doctor to check on you," Asher finally said, pushing her away.

But since she was currently pretending to be his girlfriend, he added a word of concern.

The classroom was full of his uncle's spies. They couldn't risk being exposed.

"Okay. I knew it. You're the best man in the world. You still care about me. I like you," Avery said sweetly as she backed out of his arms, but not before planting a kiss on his cheek.

At least seven or eight people in the classroom were watching their every move.

Those powerful people Asher mentioned probably already knew she'd been in a car accident today, so the act had to be convincing.
