Chapter 5 - 5

"Sister, are you possessed by a ghost? If you're not feeling well, you should tell our family.

That way, Dad can bring home a powerful Taoist priest for you. Otherwise, acting all crazy like this isn't a good thing."

Rose felt that something was very wrong with her. Last night at the bar, she suddenly hugged her, and she felt strange back then too.

"My dear little sister, you're actually someone who believes in superstitions? That's rare.

Aren't people who do bad things usually the ones who don't believe in ghosts and gods? Otherwise, how could they not be afraid of karma?"

Avery gave her a weird smile.

"Nonsense! I never do bad things."

But when Rose saw that creepy smile, she really got scared and quickly hid behind her brother.

"Really? You better think carefully before you speak, or else... I'm afraid something might bother you when you're sleeping at night."

Avery smiled again. There was no more food left on the table.

She had already eaten all the breakfast and finished the milk. Her stomach was feeling really full.

After all, the original person usually ate very little. Suddenly eating this much made her stomach feel stuffed.

"Avery, who taught you to say these things today?

You better tell the truth, or I'll lock you in the basement. I don't believe your bones are that strong!"

Mr. Lu suddenly thought of something else. Right now, the company was fighting with the Zhang family over a project.

This rebellious daughter suddenly changed. Could someone be using her?

"Dad, I'm your real daughter. You want to lock me in the basement and torture me to death?"

Avery turned to look at him, her face looking full of hurt.

"I don't have a rebellious daughter like you. If you dare help outsiders harm our Lu family, then you are our enemy."

Mr. Lu thought about the company problems and slowly calmed down. He stared coldly at Avery.

"Dad, you say I harmed the Lu family. Do you have any proof? You can't just blame me for no reason, right?

We are related by blood. Father and daughter. Blood is thicker than water, Dad."

Avery looked at his angry, cruel eyes. Her voice trembled from fear.

"Having someone like you is the biggest shame of my life.

If I could, I'd rather drain all your blood dry so we'd have no connection at all."

Mr. Lu thought about how she would rather help outsiders hurt her own family. He really felt like killing her.

Not to mention one daughter — even ten daughters — weren't as important as his company.

"Dad, do you really hate me that much? Mom, after all, I was in your belly for ten months. Can you please speak to Dad for me?

I really didn't do anything to hurt the Lu family. I never did anything to shame you. It's true."

Avery saw how fierce and heartless her father looked, and quickly turned to her mom for help.

After all, this body was born from her. Even if they wanted to throw her away, her mom should be the one to say it.

"Sister, just now in front of outsiders, you said bad things that made our Lu family look bad. What did you mean by that?

Even though our family is rich and we're not afraid of those lowly people, you still can't step on our parents' faces in front of others.

Dad and Mom are respected people. How can you let low people laugh at us?

You're just too unfilial. How will Mom and Dad ever face people in the future?"

Avery grew angrier as she spoke, even pointing her finger at Rose.

"But I didn't say anything just now. Why don't we bring back that driver and confront him?"

Her words seemed like she was helping her parents scold herself, but in reality, she was adding fuel to the fire, making her parents feel even more humiliated.

However, Avery didn't care at all about Rose acting like a clown. Let her stir things up — worst case, just throw her out.

Whether she stayed here or not didn't matter. As long as she didn't bother her again, that was enough.

"Dad, Mom, how about kicking her out? She's no help staying in the house anyway, and all she does is mess with our mood every day."

July saw how sharp-tongued she was and didn't want to argue anymore. As long as she was thrown out, she couldn't cause any real trouble.

"No. If she dares to help outsiders frame us, then we can't let her walk out of here alive."

Mr. Lu had made up his mind. No matter what she said, this daughter couldn't be allowed to stay.

"What? You mean you want to kill me? I'm your biological daughter! Even a tiger wouldn't eat its own cubs!"

Avery was genuinely shocked by his words. This wasn't the apocalypse — there was no need to kill one's own flesh and blood, right?

She truly didn't understand what was going on in her so-called father's mind.

"Hmph. Butler, throw her in the basement. Without my permission, no one is allowed to give her food."

Mr. Lu gave the order directly.

"No, Mom! I'm your biological daughter. Please save me! You carried me for ten months, went through so much pain giving birth. Can you really bear to let your daughter die so senselessly?"

Seeing the butler leading people over to grab her, Avery quickly threw herself at Madam Luo.

"Get off! If I had known I'd give birth to someone like you, I should've strangled you back then. At least I wouldn't have to deal with your embarrassment now or lose face because of you. After you die, don't even think about being reborn through me again. I'm disgusted by trash like you — I really don't want you."

Madam Luo shoved her aside. She'd already been thinking about kicking her out.

She only kept her because she was her daughter, thinking maybe she'd change later and could marry into a rich family to help the Lu family build connections.

But not only was she ungrateful, she even brought trouble to the Lu family — a completely ungrateful wretch.

"You really want to cut ties with me?"

Avery deliberately let herself fall to the floor but still stubbornly asked.

"We were going to use you for a marriage alliance, but look at the state you're in now. No one would want you. Keeping you is worthless. Forget cutting ties — we want you gone from this world. Only the dead don't shame the Lu family."

Mr. Lu waved impatiently after speaking, signaling the bodyguards to act.

"So that's how it is, huh? But I don't want to die. I'm still young. I want to live and see more of this world."

As Avery finished speaking, she quickly stood up and grabbed a fork from the table, pressing it against Madam Luo's neck.

With her other hand, she pulled Madam Luo closer, holding her hostage.

"Let's see who dies first. I'm just a piece of trash, right? If I kill one of you, I break even. If I kill two, I profit. That's a pretty good deal, isn't it?"

Avery tugged at the corner of her mouth and smiled slightly. She hadn't survived over 20 years in the apocalypse for nothing.
