Chapter 5 - I accept you

Nathan Grey was that old because he had to spend years away from the pack to train and become powerful for his position as the Lycan king. His parents expected him to find his mate in the academy but ten years after his returned, he came back with the news that he hadn't found his mate.

The gathering of everyone in the whole pack on his coronation was an opportunity for him to find his mate. When his parents asked if he found his mate, his response was positive, and they were expecting his mate to be Lilliana.

When Nathan discovered that his mate was an omega, he wasn't at all disappointed or thought he was unlucky. The night she came into the room where he and his friends were having fun and celebrating his coronation was when he saw her.

Her work that night was to serve drinks while other omega like her were to entertain him and his friends. While she was serving the drinks, going around the table to fill each glass, he already knew that she was his mate.

As she was a low rank, she-wolf, she didn't immediately sense that the wolf who was just crowned the king of the Silverfang pack was her fated mate.

He ordered her to sit beside him as he wanted to feel his mate, he wanted to have her by his side the whole night. However, he didn't know how he would announce to his family and the whole kingdom that he was mated to an omega.

Everyone believed that an omega as the Luna would only bring the kingdom to its ruin. The fear of the kingdom crumbling would make everyone reject his mate; hence he planned to present himself to the wolves and his family with a pledge that him accepting his mate wouldn't bring the pack down.

"Is that why you rejected me?" He asked her, moving his body close to her, ignoring the hair around her bed.

Sofia was looking at him with disgust, wondering why he was trying to break the distance between them.

"Isn't that enough reason to let you go?" She answered, her expression, void.

"Well..." he smiled at her.

"What?" she hated when something speak with hesitation.

"Now that I've explained what really happened, don't you want to change that?"

"Are you asking me to..." she played dumb as if she didn't know that he'd come to this. "Men," she commented and looked above her as she was itching to smile but to Nathan, she was reacting to men being liars and scoundrels.

"Come on, Sofia, I'm not lying about wanting you," he was back to that topic.

"Then explain to me why you'd choose an omega instead of a pretty high ranked she-wolf?" She believed that she could get a hint of what he was planning against her through his answer to her question.

"To be honest," he took her hand and rubbed her skin softly and carefully, thinking of why he chose her. It wasn't a must to accept one's fated mate but when he saw her that night, he just felt driven by something or was he drunk?

Nathan chuckled, "I don't know, myself. I just want my mate even if she is an omega and I'm not letting you go," he answered, his tone calm and decisive.

'Cliché,' she thought. Her face didn't express any emotion even though she was disgusted by his affectionate touches. "I see," she sounded sarcastic about it, but it wasn't noticed by Nathan because his mentality wasn't that exposed to the kind of life she had experienced, which was from the future in 2025.

"But what if I don't want you?" She asked, in an attempt to know how his mind worked and how she was going to handle such mind.

"I never thought of that," he sounded apologetic about his action, perhaps.

"Yeah, because you thought that an omega wouldn't refuse a strong powerful wolf like you," she said, her tone pushing him to feel bad about his thought. She expected him to deny her assumption.

"You might be right," he said, shocking her with his response. "I must've thought an omega wouldn't reject me. I'm not the only one who can reject a mate because I'm high in rank, she can to, if she doesn't want me," he said more to himself like a realization. Then he brought his gaze to her face.

"Have I disappointed you again, my mate?" he sounded so concern. "What can I do to make it up to you?"

"What?" Taken aback by his reaction, she had to take a minute to get things together. The wolf in front of her didn't mind saying the truth even if it meant proving him wrong and making him look like a fool. He was different.

"I shouldn't have considered you helpless because you are an omega. I was wrong and I want to make it up to you," he explained as it felt she didn't understand but she did, she was just confused.

'Alright, he's different, another hard task. I'm not use to people who are true to themselves but that doesn't mean I can't handle him.'

"I accept you as my mate," she brought the topic up abruptly, but it was important to her.

He looked surprised at first but with their eyes on each other, his lips slowly curled into a sweet smile. He looked gentle when he smiled but she was thinking about how she was going to deal with someone who wasn't so greedy like the people she had been surrounded with her whole life, whether as Sara or Sofia.

"I, Lycan king of the Silverfang pack, accept you, Sofia Mann as my fated mate and promise to do everything in my power to protect you, love you and provide for you," after his declaration, he kissed her knuckles. "You are mine now, Sofia. All mine."

While he was celebrating owning his mate, she was glad about the success of the first part of the plan. She was in his life now; it was time to make him like her enough to share confidential information with her.
