Chapter Three
Ansel's POV.
She was standing right at my front. I felt a lump in my throat while my eyes stung badly, tears wanting to come out.
She was alive! She was really alive. My eyes kept on blinking, while I thought of a word to say.
My heart leaped for joy seeing she was alive, and at the same time my brain was in a state of confusion trying to figure out everything.
She just stood there too, staring at me. I was never prepared for this, I never thought I was going to see her in my life again.
I thought she was gone. I thought that was the end, I thought she was dead. My hands were currently in a tight fist, this was a really awkward situation.
"Uhm—" She paused. I betrayed her, I ended everything between the both of us and I have always regretted the choice I made. I was threatened so I had no choice.
Her parents threatened me and now I am in this situation.
"It's nice meeting you again. I came here to sign the contract with you, my father sent me here." She brought out an envelope from her bag, while it was held in her arms.
I studied her face and noticed how she was about to cry, but
The fact that she was acting like she didn't know me was another level of pain. I needed us to talk about what happened one year ago.
I needed to know who she survived. Immediately after I got that call that night, I remembered how I got into my car thinking I would be able to save her, but everything was too late.
I was too late. If only she didn't want to see me that night. I have been living with the guilt of her death for the past one year.
"Oh yeah—" I paused, rubbing my nervous hands against my clothes, hoping that she didn't get to know how nervous I was right now. "You should have your seat." I urged her pointing at an empty couch in the room.
She sat right on it, while I sat on the couch that was opposite hers. She heaved out a deep sigh dropping the files on the tables.
"You should go over the terms and then see it if you are okay with everything."
I couldn't bear it anymore, I couldn't bear the pain.
"Please, let's just stop this. Where the hell have you been?" I questioned her, rubbing my hand against my forehead. I realized that she wouldn't stop staring at the ring in my hands.
Oh shit— more reasons for her to keep on hating on me.
"Mr.Ansel, I would really love it if you could keep personal related issues out of business." She mentioned, with a soft smile on her face.
"How do you expect me to work with you if we haven't even sorted out the issues in the past?" I paused. It was going to be a distraction— Mr Ansel? Was this a joke?
"That's why you should also be able to control yourself, just like the way I am doing right now." She mentioned. "You are also married now, I bet you don't want your wife to have other thoughts." She stated.
"I am not married." I blurted out, I was— it wasn't like the way she imagined it. It was a forced marriage, and I was threatened.
I wished I could tell her about everything.
"What about our child? The one you said that we had together." I suddenly remembered what she told me months ago.
"Will you just shut the fuck up?" She shouted at me as she then rose up to her feet immediately.
She started unbuttoning her shirt all of a sudden.
"What are you doing?" I rose up to my feet alongside her. She removed her shirt completely leaving her in her bra. I could feel my little man getting aroused already.
Oh! How much I missed her soft skin in my palms "this is not the right time for this." I muttered to myself.
"Can you see the scar here? I was fucking stabbed three times before I was pushed off the cliff." Tears which she has been holding for a long time finally flow down her eyes.
I walked closer to her, while I then observed the scar which hasn't fully healed.
"Do you even think the child will be able to survive such stabs if it were alive then? I bet your brother was really good at keeping secrets."
My hands touched her belly, tracing the huge scar. This is all my fault. This happened to her because of me, this happened to our baby because of me.
Pang of guilt ran through me. My hands were shaking, scared at the same time.
"Don't you dare apologize to me ever, no amount of apology will be able to have me back in your arms." She dropped her shirt, while I then removed my hands.
"I was threatened by your father." I revealed the truth to her. "He threatened me and that was why I had no choice."
"Men coming up with the same excuse as usual. You all should come up with something creative. I am tired of y'all repeating the same damn thing over and over again." She took her shirt which she had dropped on the floor.
The creaking sound of the door got my attention, someone had entered. We both looked towards the door, and it turned out to be her half sister.
Oh shit— things were about to get really messy from here.
