Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 — The Mark Within

Aiden wandered through the golden fields, his bare feet pressing softly against the earth. The air shimmered faintly, not with heat, but with magic—he could feel it in his bones, like a low hum beneath his skin. Every breath carried something unfamiliar, something alive.

The mark on his chest, where the glowing symbol had entered, still pulsed faintly.

He wasn't sure what it meant. But he knew it had changed him.

Suddenly, the peaceful silence was shattered by a scream.

Aiden froze.

Another voice followed—a girl, shouting something in a language he didn't know. Then came the heavy crashing of footsteps through the brush, and the snarling of… beasts?

Aiden turned toward the sound, unsure whether to run or hide.

Before he could decide, a figure burst through the trees. A girl, around his age, dressed in travel-worn leather armor, a short sword clutched in her hand. Her golden-brown hair was tied back, and her eyes were fierce—but afraid.

She wasn't running from him.

She was running from what followed.

A beast emerged seconds later—twice the size of a wolf, covered in blackened bone-like armor, with red eyes glowing from within. It moved like shadow and flame, unnatural and hungry.

The girl tripped, hitting the ground hard.

The beast lunged.

Aiden didn't think. He moved.

Instinct.

He raised his hand.

The mark on his chest flared.

Suddenly—everything stopped. The wind, the sound, even the creature in mid-leap. All frozen, like the world had paused.

Aiden stood in silence.

Around him, strange threads of glowing light stretched from the trees, the grass, the girl, even the monster—like invisible lines that stitched the world together. They pulsed, alive.

One thread—his own—glowed brighter than the rest.

Something inside him whispered:

> "Pull."

So he did.

The light surged.

Time snapped back into motion—but the creature twisted in midair, slammed into a tree, and vanished in a burst of ash.

The girl gasped, scrambling back.

She stared at Aiden, wide-eyed. "Wh-what did you just do?"

Aiden didn't know.

But the glowing threads… they were gone now.

And in their place, deep in his mind, something had awakened.

A voice—not the blue figure, but his own.

> "You have the Thread-Soul."

"You see the lines that bind all things."
