Chapter 8 - 8. Stubborn couple.

Sometimes Chelsea's stubborn nature became more dominant whenever she remembered her initial goal of returning to China. She had enjoyed a comfortable life after being taken care of by Lorraine and William Deep Moon and living in the Netherlands for years. They became her adoptive parents and biggest supporters, and Chelsea was determined to take back everything that was rightfully hers.

"Are we going to Emerald Group again?" Daniel Jiang asked, driving and focusing on the traffic in front of him.

"Yes, I want to have lunch with that boy." She took out a cushion, checking her makeup to perfect her appearance.

"I always pray that your little boy will like you soon."

Chelsea closed the cushion, gazing out the window. "Yes, even though I really hope he's on my side, whether he loves me or not is up to him. Besides, I don't want to love him either, because love is a poison that can weaken and kill someone at any moment."

"You're too realistic."

"I have to be realistic. I've been imagining this stage for a long time, and I've successfully started it. Now, it's not just imagination; it's opening up to the real facts." She felt very confident, showing her strong character and unwillingness to give up easily.

"Don't worry, you can ask me for any help. Everything will be okay."

"Yes, I hope so, until the end." Daniel checked on the woman in the passenger seat through the rearview mirror.

"Are you still in touch with that psychologist?"

Chelsea shook her head. "I feel better, and besides, we're too far apart. If I need medication, I'll find it here."

"Thank goodness. I hope you'll get better soon."

"Thank you, Uncle." She gazed out the window again, lost in thought. Most people only pay attention to others' good fortune without caring about the struggles they've faced before achieving their current success.

They always see Chelsea as a lucky woman. Since she was eight, she lived with a conglomerate family in the Netherlands, becoming the sole heir to Lorraine Wang and William Deep Moon's wealth. Her mother was a Chinese citizen who married a Dutch man and moved to his country, but they had no children due to Lorraine's long battle with uterine cancer.

Chelsea's presence was a blessing to them, and after handling the adoption papers, little Chelsea quickly moved to the Netherlands. Others didn't know how difficult Chelsea's life was before she turned ten, and even now, she still occasionally takes depression medication.

However, she would let it pass easily, making everyone see her as the arrogant heiress of Hexagon Bank International in Europe.

"Uncle, what do you think of my cooking this time?" Chelsea glanced at the lunch bag beside her.

"It's still delicious, even though it's your first time cooking Chinese food, isn't it?"

"Yes, I didn't know what to feed that boy."

"You've tried your best. He should understand."

When they were alone, Daniel Jiang was used to being casual with Chelsea, but in front of others, he became quite formal, adjusting to the situation to keep their close relationship a secret.

Kung Pao chicken, Sichuan, Dim Sum, and Almond Jelly were the lunch menu in the lunch bag Chelsea held as she entered Emerald Group. Since Jonas left the house for the office, Chelsea immediately asked the house chef about Chinese dishes and spent hours in the kitchen cooking lunch for her husband.

Chelsea was always thorough when she wanted something.

"Good afternoon, Miss Moon." Lusi smiled warmly and bowed when Chelsea stopped in front of her cubicle.

"Yes, is Jonas in?"

"Mr. Jonas is in."

She glanced at the lunch bag in Chelsea's hand. "Ah, you're bringing lunch again. Your cooking is delicious, Miss. You must be—"

Lusi's expression suddenly tensed as she stopped speaking, realizing something that made Chelsea's brow furrow.

"Delicious? Did you eat it?"

Lusi swallowed hard, realizing she had been caught. Jonas's secretary immediately bowed, apologizing for eating the lunch that Chelsea had brought.

"You can punish me, Miss. I'll do anything. Mr. Jonas asked me to eat it, and no one else was allowed to touch the food. I apologize sincerely."

Chelsea snorted, but there was no anger on her face. "It's fine. I suspected this would happen. At least he didn't throw the food away."

Lusi stood up straight, shaking her head strongly. "Of course not! Mr. Jonas asked me to eat it, not throw it away. You can trust me."

"Is the woman named June also in?"

"No, she hasn't appeared since your last visit."

"Good." Chelsea pushed open the door to Jonas Li's office, finding her husband focused on his computer.

"I don't care if my actions disturb you. I just wanted to come because I was lonely at home."

The woman walked proudly to the sofa by the window, placing the lunch bag on the table, and watching Jonas, who was oblivious to her presence.

"The last time you ignored my lunch and forced Lusi to eat it, but today I worked hard in the kitchen, so I have to see you eat it in front of me."

"I'm not hungry," Jonas replied without looking up, his brow furrowed as he examined the company's expenses for the past three months on his computer, unwilling to miss a single detail.

"It's fine. I'll wait until you're hungry. I'll be here waiting until you're bored with me." She took out her phone and called Daniel Jiang.

"Uncle, you can go home. I'm with Jonas here, and we'll go home together." She smiled mockingly as Jonas looked at her with annoyance.

"See you."

"Don't cause trouble," he threatened.

"What kind of trouble?" She laughed softly. "I just want to see my husband touch his lunch. Is that a problem for you?" She rolled her eyes.

"Primitive." Jonas snorted, choosing to remain silent rather than argue with Chelsea. It was pointless, so letting Chelsea get bored might be the best option.

As lunchtime passed and Emerald's employees left their workstations, Jonas continued working. When lunchtime ended, Jonas still worked, as if he didn't feel tired.

Meanwhile, Chelsea watched him from the sofa, occasionally buying milk tea from the cafeteria and reading magazines stored under the table. The woman was determined to keep Jonas company, regardless of his efforts to ignore her.

At 2 PM, Chelsea started yawning widely. She caught Lusi's eye, who was delivering coffee at Jonas's request. Chelsea chose to lie down on the sofa when her back started to ache from sitting for a long time. She browsed Weibo, yawning occasionally.

When Jonas finally looked up, Chelsea had fallen asleep with her phone still on her face. Jonas checked his watch, then stood up and approached Chelsea.

"Troublesome woman," he muttered, opening the lunch bag on the table. He removed his black jacket to cover Chelsea's exposed thighs, moved her phone to the table, and took the box containing dim sum and kung pao chicken before returning to his desk.

Jonas ate his lunch with chopsticks, standing up to go to the bathroom in his office just as Jordan Li appeared, carrying a folder.

Jordan was shocked to find Chelsea lying on the sofa, and he couldn't help but smile at the sight of the beautiful woman. He approached her without hesitation, admiring her features—her straight nose, long eyelashes, and small lips with a touch of nude lipstick. Chelsea was perfect in Jordan's eyes.

His right hand reached out, tempted to touch her face, but suddenly Jonas stood beside him, grasping his hand.

"What do you think you're doing? She's sleeping," Jonas said coldly.

Jordan cursed inwardly, wondering why his brother was so concerned about Chelsea. Hadn't Jonas rejected her from the start?

"Nothing," he said, pressing the folder against Jonas's chest. "I just wanted to get your signature." He walked over to the side of his brother's desk.

Jonas glanced at Chelsea, then returned to his chair. "The proposal for the Manor Yizi project?"

"Yes, take a look."

"I've already discussed it with Daddy and the executives here." Jonas quickly filled out the signature column on the paper. Jordan continued to gaze at Chelsea without moving from his spot.

"If you're tired of her, just give her to me." Jonas snorted.

"Then tell Daddy and her parents, not me." He went back to eating the remaining dim sum, successfully finishing two boxes.

"I'll definitely take her from you." Jordan walked towards the door, carrying the folder.

"Just try, and see if you succeed."
