Chapter 332 - Chapter 333: Trazyn's Speculation

Chapter 333: Trazyn's Speculation

Anrakyr the Traveller was an Overlord whose mind had remained completely unaffected by the long sleep. He had always been dedicated to the revival of the Necrontyr. He would help other, not-yet-awakened Necron dynasties to awaken safely, or help them deal with their enemies. But in return, they had to pay a price: one-tenth of their dynasty's army.

This had made Anrakyr's reputation among the Necrons highly polarized. Some saw him as a noble Overlord; others thought him a common pirate. If you didn't pay his price, he would find a way to take it himself. Whether through political struggle or military force, he would let the other Overlords know that his debts were not to be left unpaid.

Hearing Trazyn's words, Sannet was speechless. And you're one to talk about his character, he thought. Is what you do really 'collecting'? Is it not just theft?

"My Lord," Sannet said nervously, "as I recall, Anrakyr's attitude toward you is not exactly friendly. If he finds out what we have done, what if he comes looking for trouble with us?"

"Not friendly?" Trazyn mused. "I don't seem to have a good relationship with anyone. Besides, how could he possibly know? And if he doesn't know, it means it never happened. And even if he does find out, what can he do to me? Can he find my real body? Or declare war on me? If it really comes down to it, I'll just give him one or two of my duplicates to vent his anger on. It's no loss to me. And as I recall, I've never 'borrowed' anything from him."

The combat strength of Trazyn and his dynasty was far greater than one might imagine. He was not keen on using war to achieve his goals. But if you dared to destroy one of Trazyn's collectibles, he would become more furious than the original owner and would let you know that his collection was not to be touched.

"Don't worry, Sannet. I think we should be more concerned about whether the Overlord of this dynasty, having slept for so long, has suffered any mental degradation. Do you know who he is?"

"It is Zardathusa, my Lord. He has the epithet 'the Fire-Sworn.' During the War in Heaven, he destroyed many stars to stop the C'tan from absorbing their energy and to annihilate the vassal races of the Old Ones. There are records of him in the dynastic archives. My Lord, I think we should leave. We only just returned from Cadia, and you have already collected a great many things. Isn't the Chosen of the Four enough for you to admire for a while? It's only been a short time, why are you out and about again? At this rate, I can't conduct my own research properly. And are you planning to intervene in the war between the humans and these bugs? There is no benefit in it for you."

"Sannet," Trazyn sighed, "you are one of the few individuals in my dynasty with your own consciousness. If I don't bring you, am I supposed to bring those humans I'm raising? You've been with me for so many years. Even as a Cryptek, surely you must have developed some interest in my hobbies?"

"I have no intention of questioning your hobbies, my Lord," Sannet replied dutifully, "but I truly do not understand why you are so interested in the history of these fragile humans. I would have no objection if you were to explore the ruins of the Eldar; after all, they were a race that fought a long and bitter war with us. But humanity, be it their history or their level of technology, has nothing worthy of our attention."

Trazyn immediately began to rebut Sannet's words.

"For a race to have developed to this extent, they must have their own unique qualities. Have you not discovered that their rich emotions are precisely what we are missing? This galaxy needs diversity. If it were truly only the Necrontyr, then we would not be far from our own destruction. Besides, on the way here, I'm sure you saw how those Hive Fleets were being held back by the humans. Do you think we could have done better?

"The Silent King has returned, and he has brought back news of these bugs from outside the galaxy. Can you truly still think a race that can resist such a massive bio-fleet is weak? And did you see the creatures they were fighting the Tyranids with? It seems they are far stronger than they appeared on Cadia. And besides, how could one ever have too many precious collectibles and historical recordings?

"And I have an agreement with that human named Lucan. I haven't even met him yet. He is becoming more and more interesting to me. His existence is absolutely not as simple as we think. I even suspect whether he is from this galaxy, or even from this universe.

"Just like that machine that can repair all kinds of mechanical constructs. I can confirm that it is of a purely physical form, with no psychic manifestation. Sannet, as a Cryptek, do you think something that can repair things out of thin air is reasonable, or that it should even exist? You've studied the machine I captured, have you not? Our Scarabs can consume matter to build, but this machine... it doesn't even need a power supply from the physical world, nor does it convert matter, nor does it use psychic power to create something from nothing. Psychic power is, in the end, just another form of energy. Such a power simply should not exist in this galaxy, or in this universe.

"And that being who charged into Khorne's domain... that was even more incredible. Humanity already possesses the strength to directly confront a Chaos God.

"This human named Lucan... his ambition is greater than we think. I have secretly visited the worlds under his rule. They are absolutely not what a human world in the Imperium should be. His philosophy and ideology are not those of these humans. He is trying to change the human Imperium."

Trazyn's words were incredible to Sannet. Not from this galaxy, or not from this universe?! And everything Lucan had displayed was simply too overpowered.

"At least for now, cooperating with that human is only beneficial to us," Trazyn concluded. "While Zardathusa is not yet fully awake, let's go and see what we can 'borrow.' My duplicate should have already reached Lucan's side. I have a feeling that cooperating with him will bring some unexpected rewards..."

With that, Trazyn unhesitatingly tore open a dimensional rift and stepped through, pulling Sannet in with him. The best time to steal things is, of course, when the owner is not at home or is still asleep.

And what was the most valuable thing Zardathusa possessed? He had no powerful artifacts, no C'tan shards, and Trazyn had no interest in his armies. The most useful thing was the technology of the Maynarkh Dynasty.

Trazyn felt he was beginning to understand Lucan a little. If he wanted to trade for something, or some information, from him, then the technology of this dynasty, which could manipulate stars, was surely the right choice. He didn't believe Lucan could refuse.

And so Trazyn began his work. The Crypteks under Zardathusa were in for a nasty surprise. These Crypteks hadn't even had a chance to awaken yet. Soon, several of them were sapped in their own sarcophagi, and Trazyn took control of their bodies.

And as he began to acquire the technology, Sannet suddenly became much more enthusiastic. He didn't like history, but he loved technology. He did not possess the unique technologies of the Maynarkh Dynasty. It seemed that after so many years at Trazyn's side, Sannet had finally picked up some of his bad habits.
