Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

The day of the awakening. Every student who was ready to awaken was waiting for their turn in their school's designated position in the central square of the city. Every student from all the schools from the Earth Dragon city were gathered here.

Everyone was brought forward batch by batch. Soon it was Alan's turn.

"Dude I literally didn't sleep last night, thinking about the base stats I get after the awakening." Arun was lean and slightly on the shorter side, so he was always worried about the stats he would awaken.

"Worry not. even if it is bad we can always adjust it in the first few levels before we enter tier 1." Alan replied while focusing on the origin pilliar which opened their fates.

Soon the batch they were in was called up. The awakening procedure was simple. Just place your palm on the origin monument and it will scan your body and a virtual screen will pop up before your eyes.

It contained your name, stats, condition, a virtual storage space, and even most the expected life expectancy of the person.

Soon they completed their procedures. As they were returning to their school's designated point, Alan glanced back at the translucent timer that was running on top of the monument. For some reason he felt unease looking at that.

Soon they were brought back and they started checking their personal interface. Alan opened his detailed interface and it was as follows.

"25 stat points in total, above average I guess. Coupled with golden talent it won't be as difficult to stand out from the crowd. Grinding my bow skills also kinda payed off, and it gave me a passive skill"

Most of the people had their total awakening stat points around 20. Having high initial spirit meant potential for a mage. Other stats are somehow balanced. There are different types of talents ranging from lower to high as iron, bronze, silver, and gold.

Lower talent does not mean lower potential. Talent usually affects the stats gained in tier 0, and the free attributes you gain after tier 1 and choosing a class.

Talent can also be enhanced by special resources from a young age so kids with a background like Alan more or less had a golden talent. So what sets them aside is the individual comprehension talent and hard work.

So more than half of the young population had silver talent and above, and this percentage increased over the generations.

The talent affects the attribute points gained after every subsequent leveling up. The effect of talent is not obvious nowadays after the discovery of the attribute stones.

It gave you free attribute points every time you used them. They are rare as gold but still can be found and dropped from special dungeons or from boss monsters.

So lower rank talents can catch up if they grind the dungeons hard and long enough. But having a higher talent makes things easier though.

The stat gained per talent is as follows:

Iron rank: 4 free attribute points per level.

Bronze rank: 6 free attribute points per level.

Silver rank: 8 free attribute points per level.

Gold rank: 10 free attribute points per level.

That being said everyone had their average stats around 20-22 and as for talent many choose to not disclose it and teachers did not ask around as they only valued the outcome.

Even if someone had a really high talent, if his legs go weak the moment they see monsters then all of it will be for nothing.

Highest stats recorded in the city were from a dude called Mark from No:1 high school with a total 30 stat points.

From No:3 high school the highest stats belonged to the school belle Ann Rose with around 28 stat points.

Alan didn't think about it for so long. He then looked over to the panel where it had a variety of skills listed.

A newly awakened player can select any one of the f tier skills for free and it is provided by the Gaia federation.

He decided to choose the skill basic flame ball spell as he wanted to choose the hybrid class. He already got the basic archer skill, now he learned mage skill so as to get used to it and in order to increase his chances of getting the hybrid class.

Everyone had finished selecting their skills when their class incharge and vice principal came over.

"Since everyone has completed their awakening let's head towards the beginner dungeon. The faster you reach tier 1, the greater the advantage over others."

The teacher then led them to the bus and disembarked towards the dungeon. Alan checked in on Arun. He had 22 total attributes with an insanely high agility, around 12. Rest of the stats were average with 5 strength, 3 physique, and 2 spirit.

After they reached the beginner dungeon allocated to their school, their teacher gave out basic equipment to those who gave their names the day before. They weren't highly attributed items but were enough for the beginner dungeon. Most of them have brought their own weapons. Some took it since it is free anyway.

Alan had held on to the bow which his big brother had gifted him. His brother had it specially made for him after he said about his path. This bow could last till the initial stage of tier 1.

'Using this bow before reaching tier 1 might seem overkill but it will give me an advantage'. Alan thought. It was not only him who had a special weapon. Those from big clans and good families were also equipped with such items.

His parents and brother were well off so he could be considered somewhat rich but the resource consumption was high at higher levels so he didn't bother them. As his brother were in a good guild and knowing his Alan's nature he helped him make a good bow with good magic conductivity which is somewhat hard to find.

"By the way, why can't I see your sabre anywhere? Don't tell me you forgot it somewhere" Alan said after seeing Arun sitting carefree.

"What are you talking about? I've already stored it in my inventory. Most of them stored their items as soon as they awakened. Don't tell me you haven't used your inventory yet"

Alan grinned as he heard that. The inventory size is limited to around 1 cubic meter in volume, with 1x1x1meters in dimensions. It can't fit a bow unless it is dismantled. Alan thought it would be a hassle.

He could only wait till reach tier 1 or finding a storage stone before he could expand that.

For now he could just stick to storing potions or the essentials and some arrows
