Kai frowned. "Wait, it's after me?"

Kai looked between them.
Lyra growled. "We don't have time for both."
Kai's decision came hard and fast. "We need firepower. Let's wake the priestess."
Selis smiled. "You're bolder than most."
The Whispergrove grew darker.
More twisted.
Vines pulsed underfoot, their tips slick with something that shimmered like oil and smelled faintly of sweat and nectar. The air grew warmer with every step.
Eventually, they reached it.
A sacred shrine—ancient stone carved in the shape of a reclining beastwoman, bound in golden chains. Fox ears rose from the head of the statue. Nine flowing tails curled beneath it like a throne.
Inside the temple, a warm glow pulsed from the center.
There she lay.
Bound in a circle of sigils, naked, asleep.
Her hair was fiery red, cascading around her flawless caramel skin. Her breasts rose and fell with slow, rhythmic breaths. Gold piercings shimmered on her ears, nipples, and navel.
Her name burned in Kai's mind.

The shrine trembled.
With a growl like thunder, the beastkin's eyes snapped open.
Fiery gold. Glowing with restrained rage and hunger.
She looked at Kai.
"You... freed me."
He nodded slowly.
"I am Nayomi. War Priestess of Lustfire. And you... smell delicious."
Kai smirked. "I get that a lot."
Without warning, she lunged.
He was on the ground in an instant, pinned beneath her—her tails wrapping around his limbs, her hips grinding into his lap.

The Veil Maw had come.
And it was hungry.
